Hey guys Finally got into the magic 70s with a nice 78. Made a 12 footer on 18 to get it. It was awesome. I played really well and was hitting my irons the best I have in a long time. the best/worst part of the round is I had close to 34-36 putts so it could have been better but I was pretty excited non the less. Went out the day after knowing that another day in the 70s might not be in reach, but the wheels felt like they flew off. Granted I shot an 85 but I was thinning every shot and I mean every shot. Could barely get off the tee and found about 10 bunkers on the day. The only reason it was an 85 was bc my chipping was real good. But anyone ever feel like they found the missing piece and then all of a sudden lose it? I hate and love this game so good one day not so much the very next day.

well if your hitting a slice first advice would be to aim left. But in all seriousness, just go have fun and play your game. If your playing with someone who is bombing driver and going for every par 5 dont be tempted to do the same. Just go out play your style of golf. As a 20+ handicapper the goal should probably bogey every hole and if pars come your way great if not dont feel the need to make birdies and try crazy shots

O one more thing the way I have been trying to hit the draw is line up right of the target with club face at the target. I take the club straight back and on the down swing try to swing it along the line of my feet. Is this even close to being right or am I way off? thanks again

Thanks for the responses guys. With my irons they are mostly straight and the miss is a fade But with 3 wood and drive its is a fade and then a slice. The main course I play it has a lot of doglegs that set up for draws (for righties). So if you hit a good draw you have about 150 and in but if I leave it open and hit somewhere between the fade and slice I now have 175+ So in reality I just want to be able to hit the draw off the deck but it just isnt working for me right now

Hey guys I have pretty much played a fade my hole golf career about 2 years now and it has been fine for the most part. But to really take my game and keep moving in the direction of a lower handicap I feel like I should be able to shape the ball. Getting off the tee is my biggest weakness and my irons are a love hate relationship. My short game and putter are the reason my handicap are where they are. But enough of the background I have read and seen the diagrams of the ball flight laws but for the life of me cant put them in practice. For whatever reason I cant hit a draw and its pretty annoying. I was just wondering if someone could maybe explain what I am suppose to do or if some one had some tips for some one who swings and hits a natural fade. Thanks for any and all help

Thanks for the help guys, was just weird to start hitting it so high but not really lose any distance. I will have to go get a lesson and see if it is a swing problem. In all reallity i think i just want a reason to go out and buy some mp 53s or 58s

hey guys Lately I have been absolutely hitting the ball to the moon. The wierd thing is I am not losing distance. Im guessing it is a swing flaw but that is a seperate issue. I have been looking into new irons so I was wondering if there are certain shafts that will reduce the height on some of these shots. It usually isnt a problem but im in CT right now playing at this course right on the water so there is daily 20+ winds going on. Just wondering if anyone else hits it really high and if there was anything to do about it and if different shafts would help. thanks for any help

Hey guys thanks for all the advice. I know I have to go hit all the irons, thanks iguy I will look into the jpx 800s. My handicap is close to single digits bc of my putting. For whatever reason I can putt like a champ, my short game is sub par but is kind of masked by my putting. My ball striking is prob about 50/50 at best. Some days its great others its awful and that is usually why my rounds can influx so much. But thanks for all the help and I think I am going today or tomorrow to test out these irons but had a couple of months off because of winter so I want to get a couple of swings in before

Hey guys Looking to get some new irons for my upcoming season. I pretty much narrowed it down to the 53s vs the 58s, was playing to a 9 handicap this past season so I feel like I can hit either or and I know the answers are going to be go out and hit them both and go from there. I plan on doing that within a week or so. Just wanted to hear some other opinions if you guys have hit them which ones did you go for. thanks
-
currently sporting the superfast in my bag right now. I hit both and decided to by the superfast. I hit both pretty well but for me I had more confidence with the superfast at address. The numbers for me were pretty much the same so in all reality it just came down to which when I liked better. The superfast was that club and cant say I am going to switch drivers any time soon, great club

hey guys at one of the ranges near me, they have a set of used MP 60s going for 350. The set is probably an 8 out of 10, seems like a real good price but just wanted a couple of opinions on it. Also i like the feel of them but not 100 percent sure i can hit them pure all the time. Any opinions out there on how good you should be before getting these clubs. Have been averaging low 80s this season with the blow up being like 88 and the good round being 80(cant seem to crack the 70s yet) thanks for all the help

Hey guys Newest problem to my game(theres always something) is i started hitting behind the ball. Not like an inch or some but a decent amount. I have even been doing it off the tee which is pretty weird to take a divot with a driver or 3 wood off the deck. I normally play 9 holes after work so I thought maybe it was just me being tired but it has been happening for a week or so and is pretty frustrating. Just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks to help me out. thanks in advance

Hey guys Have been playing a lot lately, have been putting together like 2 good weeks and then have a week or rough play usually can battle out of it but the last time i played i felt like i didnt have control over my swing and i couldnt make an adjustment to help it at all. I battle my hips all the time trying to clear them properly and when i dont i pretty much just block everything out to the right. Just wondering if anyone had some drills to do to help clear the hips and help stop the blocks. Also was wondering if anyone else with this problem has some quick fixes so when im on the course and this is happening i will be able to fake my way through the round and now just have a terrible round. thanks

hey guys Lately I have been battling 2 different misses and it makes it hard to prepare for a misses. The misses only occur with the driver, 3 wood and the hybrid. I have been hitting my irons the best I have ever hit them so I feel like if I could get off the tee consistently I could put up some low numbers. First miss is this crazy pull hook. I can feel at impact my club head is so far closed and often times i hit it off the toe. The second miss is when trying to over compensate for the first miss I have a bit of a slice. I have been trying to over compensate and just hit a fade/slice but if I lose concentration for a second the pull hook comes around and im OB. I dont have a video of my young yet but i will work on getting one. Just looking to see if anyone has battled something like this and has some drills to get me back on track. thanks for all the help

It all depends on the school. I went to my school to play baseball, hurt my arm and wasnt able to play. Decided to go out for golf the next year and I was prob around an 18 or so, i wasnt on the starting 5 but i was still there. This year i was down to a 15 or so and played a lot. Granted my school is small but there is always a place to play. We have some kids who are a 5 handicap and there are a couple of schools we play who they have one guy who can shoot under 100. So if u want to play there will always be a school for you

hitting 9 degree driver pretty high
skates replied to skates's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
ok thanks for the tips guys Actually chip kind of hit the nail on the head here. I actually try to snap my right hand which usually closes the club face for me, b/c i tend to slice -
Hey guys I have always hit my drivers pretty high, but recently bought the ftiq 9 degree driver. But sometimes i still hit it like i use to hit my 10.5 driver. Am i doing something wrong and do you think this height is causing me to lose distance? thanks

Hey guys need some help I have been hitting my irons fat recently I usually imagine i am trying to hit the front of the ball which works out pretty well but recently its not working and im hitting the ground about 2-3 inches before the ball. Any drills to help deal with this. Also i notice that if i just turn my shoulders and not lower body i make very good contact but of course i pull the crap out of the ball. I believe when i turn my hips my legs get lower which causes me to hit before the ball. Any tips on how to maintain posture as i turn? thanks for any and all help

This is some of the best advice i have ever gotten. Played 18 today, shot pretty well, worked very well on the irons and pretty good for the driver. Had a couple of sliced shots but overall it really worked thanks for sharing
-
thanks guys I have to say when i get in my backswing i have this feeling of trying to murder the ball, which is most likely causing my slicing or making it worse. Even when i swing lightly i slice. Played 9 today and shot a 44, I think i hit 1 fairway.

Hey guys, been workin on my game My strong points are my wedges to my 7, hit them very well, my longer irons i have a tendency to pull, but i am working on that. If i miss my short irons i usually push them right. But i can work on all that and understand it. But I can not hit a driver, well i cant hit anything off the tee. I try driver different ones, 3 wood and hybrids. The problem is i slice a hybrid off the tee and then i hit it from the fairway or rough and i hit it fine. I think i am nuts here but any advice on how to keep the tee shot in the fairway besides aiming way left.

thanks again guys It is a push, it starts to the right of my target line but is a straight shot

ok thanks guys

Hey guys, I have been hooking the ball lately and then i read my arms and upper body were probably going faster than my lower half. So today at the range concentrated on moving my hips first then my upper body which work out good, no more pulls. But i would seem to push the ball to the right more. Is this a matter of my hips coming through to fast? any advice here would help Also i hit wedge to 7 iron really well probably the best par of my game. But 6 iron to 4 iron is just awful, mis hits, pulls, slices you name it, it happens. But i hit my driver good, at worst with a slight slice but nothing major. Any tips to make my long iron game better? thanks for all advice
