  1. I have hit the PX Flighted 6.0 and really liked them, albeit they were in a set of X-22 Tours. That aside, the shafts felt really nice. The only thing is I wont be able to try them in Hogans as they only come with the Apex shafts. Anyways, I got PX 6.0 (non-flighted) for a great price. The only loss in value will be the cost to swap them out back to the origianls if I dont like them in the irons. I will be able to sell them again for sure.
  2. Yes they are an option. I have hit the DGS300 shafts and they are not bad but I think that I may have to go to a DGX100. I got a really good deal on the Project X shafts as they were were pull outs and that is why I am trying those.
  3. I realize that swing plane, technique, etc play into the equation. I have been playing for many years and am coming off one of my best seasons, and one thing I have learned is not to screw to much with MY swing and what works for getting the ball from tee to green. I also realize that equipment alone isn't the answer and don't expect to get the end result from changing shafts only.
  4. I am currently playing a set of Hogan Apex Edge irons with the Apex 4 (stiff) shaft installed in them. The clubs feel great and I love the forged feel in the head, but I am now trying to get my ball flight with a bit more of a lower trajectory. My ball tendancy is towards a high flight and I am thinking of changing to a Project x 6.0 shaft. My understanding is the Apex 4 shaft is a bit softer in the tip resulting in a higher launch. The Project X 6.0 is theoretically about 1/2 a flex stiffer than the Apex 4 and firmer in the tip and should keep the ball down. Has anyone tried the Project X shafts in their Hogans, or any other clubs in order to help with ball flight? How did it work out? john
  5. Thanks. Ended up getting the 52* and having it bent to 51*. Took it out to the range and it should work out fine. John
  6. I am trying to determine the wedge required to fill the gap between my PW and my SW. I have decided on the Nike SV Tour, so I dont need to get into a brand debate, but rather the gap in loft between the clubs. I currently have my Hogan Apex Edge PW that is 46* loft and a Nike 56* and 60*. I like the way the Nike's feel and want to get the matching gap wedge but am having a hard time deciing on 50* or 52*. Either way I end up a little off on equalling the caps. Suggestions? John
  7. Just curious who doesn't carry/hit a driver? I never used to hit a driver and always hit a 3 wood in its place until about 3 years ago. I then decided to give it a go and have struggled with inconsistency since starting to use one. Good some days, bad on others. I have recently thought about going back to my 3 wood and have even bought a 13* degree 3 wood to compliment my 15* and to use off the tee. To me it seems straight forward, hit what works, sacrifice a bit of distance for consistency. Anyone else out there do this? John
  8. Was looking at my Vokey's and was wondering when I needed to get new wedges. What visual gauge do you use to say it is time for new wedges? Do you look at the grooves and see the depth? Are the grooves flattening out? Is the finish gone? Any thoughts John
  9. I just bought tthe Nike Sasquatch and love it. Not the lightest carry bag but not heavy either. Also just bought a PING freestyle for my daughter and she loves that too. Cant go wrong with the PING
  10. Usually forward is good for me :)
  11. Maybe not on me and you, but on a rather petite girl that only weighs about 100 lbs soaking wet it might.
  12. Looking for a new carry bag for my 15 year old daughter. I picked her up a OGIO Diva, but feel at 5.5 lbs it is a tad to heavy for her to carry for 18 holes. I am now deciding between the Mizuno Aerolite lll and the Ping Freestyle. The bag must be light and carry well. Must also have enough capacity to hold typical items that may be needed on a round of golf...jacket, etc. Clubs must be easy in and easy out with little cluttering. I have heard alot of positive comments about the ping but have not seen alot of reviews ont he mizuno. Any thoughts?
  13. I was playing regular shaft irons up until last year. They played well and I didnt really have any complaints. My SS for driver is 95-105 and I hit a stiff shaft for it as well as my 3 wood. I bought new irons, Hogan Apex Edge and had them fitted. A check of all my specs said that I needed a frequency of 299 for my 5 iron and matched from there. The #4(stiff) shaft Hogans were the perfect shaft according to the numbers. I was worried about the stiff shaft but so far they feel good hitting them indoors, but the truth will come once the snow clears and the grass is there. Like any change in golf, it may take a bit to get used to them I guess the bottom line is if it feels good in your hands, then you will probably like it on the course. Fitting from a club fitter will lead you dowwn the right path as well.
  14. Have a 46* PW and went with a 51* GW (delofted to 50*) and a 56* and 60* Vokeys. Also delofter the 56 to 55* to keep and even spacing in the lofts. Seems to work
  15. I didn't get any clubs but got $200 gift card for Golf Town. That way I can get what I need My daughter got spoiled though. I bought her the following: Ogio DIVA bag Taylor Made Burner HT Driver Cleveland W Series 3 and 5 woods 21* and 24* Hybrids Mizuno MX-23 irons 3-PW (only carries 5-pw in bag) Taylor Made Rossi Corzina Putter Foot Jot Lo-Pro shoes copy of Golf Annika's Way I thik she got spoiled a bit...LOL
