  1. Let's put the issue about whether Snake Eyes or, as our esteemed member enduro claims, all component manufacturers are glorified "Clones" to bed. http://majors.golfweb.com/story/4127406 One cool thing I found when I googled Snake Eyes is that Smith & Wesson did (or does) produce heads for Snake Eyes.
  2. I don't think anyone is getting defensive. You just made a series of inaccurate statements and were corrected. We have all been wrong from time to time. Component companies take their own ideas, own materials and design their own equipment to their specs. Clones take other peoples designs and copy them. EDIT-Above you claim "I never said it was bad equipment." and then your last sentence in the post does just that.
  3. Run your nails over the grooves and if they catch the grooves should be OK. Either way buy one of these and it won't be an issue. I just sharpened my wedges and they are better than new. http://groovesharpener.com/
  4. Sorry about that Balto. I referenced the wrong handle when I made the comment. Apologies.
  5. Not only did the link you posted not prove anything, you are 100% incorrect in your assertion that Snake Eyes uses other designs and copies them. Every Snake Eyes iron head is an original design. I am not sure how old you are but back in the 90's before they were owned by Golfsmith dozens of tour players had Snake Eyes wedges in their bag. These same wedges are still being sold. "Component manufacturers, like Snake Eyes, make clones.". Are you asserting that all component manufacturers make clones? There is a difference between a component and a clone. I use almost exclusively Maltby products and I can assure you that not one of my clubs is a "clone". Do a little research before posting stuff like this. Here is a list of Snake Eyes Irons. Why don't you tell me which ones they cloned: http://www.golfsmith.com/cm/browse/c...275624&Ntk;=All
  6. Not to challenge you Balto but what clubs do Snake Eyes copy?
  7. I would put any of the Maltby forged irons against any other forged iron out there. Most of his stuff is really good.
  8. I guess he picked up a nice skill when he went 20 years with no job. Seriously though it is quite impressive.
  9. Hi Paddy, The only thing between LA and LV is Barstow and if you spend anytime there on your honeymoon you are going to have one pissed off bride! What I would do if I were you is fly into San Francisco and drive down the California coast. Take a few nights and stop in Half Moon Bay, Santa Barbara, Monterrey and then end up in LA. After a day or two in LA drive to Vegas. Vegas is only a 5 hour drive from LA so it can be done in a morning or afternoon. For this trip I would rent a Mustang Convertible!!
  10. KS8829 started a nice thread about fitness that I have been reading so I figured I would start a new one to share my thoughts on a couple of products I use. I was forced to stop playing golf in June of '06 after I blew out my left shoulder in an accident. The doctor told me that it was my choice whether to have surgery or go the rehab route. Since I had already had my right shoulder scoped in 1999 for a skiing accident, I chose not to have surgery on my left. Long story short is that the pain has never left either shoulder and both were very unstable. I could not play golf for just about three years! My weight had ballooned 60 pound since it hurt to do just about any aerobic exercise. One night I was watching a late night infomercial on the "Perfect Pushup" and it seemed like a decent way to strengthen my tri's, shoulder and chest in an attempt to stabilize my shoulder. Holy $hit does it work. They are not easy pushups to do and if you can do 40 regular pushups you would be hard pressed to get through 15 with the perfect pushup. They really are a tremendous product and after each use it feels like someone is sticking a screw driver into my chest. They provide a very stable platform and work many more muscles than a regular push up. I give it a 100% endorsement as I would not be able to have returned to golf without it. So after my shoulder was stable enough to play golf again I ended up watching the hot Christie Brinkley do an infomercial with Chuck Norris on the "Total Gym" She was doing a very specific shoulder stretching exercise on the machine that I had never seen. My shoulder, while stable, had zero flexibility and needed to be stretched. Another long story short is since the TG costs over $1k I bought a knock off for $200. What a great machine. While I bought it for one specific shoulder exercise, I have been using it for full body workouts now. It allows you to circuit train very easily as you can quickly transition from one exercise to another. Since I got this thing 6 weeks ago I have taken two inches from my waist and my shoulders feels strong yet flexible. My wife has used it since day one and she loves it. Takes up no room in the house and I use it after the kids go to bed. There are plenty of knock offs on the market so do not let the $1k price tag of the TG spook you.
  11. ks8829- Good work keep it up! You have some of the best food in the country is SF so it must be a challenge. I am starting another thread on fitness that you might want to check out.
  12. Would someone who carries a 64 degree wedge please share with me your bag configuration? I am trying to figure out what to remove should I go with one of these. Thanks!
  13. I am adding a Gap wedge so I need to dump a club. I was going to get rid of my 5w and 3h and replace them both with one Hybrid. I was thinking about an 18d or 19d Hybrid. Has anyone on the forum done this wish to comment on how it worked? Thanks!
  14. Anyone have any recomendations on a premium shaft for my driver? I would like it to be very high launching, weighing no more than 65g and a medium to stiff tip. Any help is appreciated!
  15. I keep waiting for a fellow 1/2 Anglo and 1/2 Saxon to win a major. That would be a triumph of ethnic diversity!
  16. No one ever said that Yang was the first Asian winner of a major. Yang is the first "Asian Born" winner of a major.
  17. This is not where I first came across the theory that Haney's swing puts more stress on Tiger, but therer are some good points made on both sides of this arguement in this article. http://capelleongolf.com/2009/04/24/...re-hank-haney/
  18. Best analysis yet!
  19. When I posed the question I acutally was undecided and was looking for alternative views. The more I think about it the more I am convinced he should. 2000 Tiger does not barf up a 4 shot lead. One article I read actually points out that his flatter Haney swing increased the stress on his left leg.
  20. Look at these two sets of stats and try to convince me that he wasnt an all around better player in 2000 than in 2007 ( I use 2007 because I view '08 as a throw away due to injury. You can use any Haney year you wish). Not only has his stats gone to crap, but his tour rank in most catagories fell off of the face of the earth. What really jumps out at me is his driving accuracy went to hell. http://web.tigerwoods.com/onTour/sea...tics?year=2000 http://web.tigerwoods.com/onTour/sea...tics?year=2007
  21. A few days have passed since Tiger blew it at the PGA. He seemed a whole different golfer compared to the 2000 season. It could be reasonably argued that Tiger Woods played his sport better in the year 2000 than any other athlete has ever played theirs. Take a look at this link http://web.tigerwoods.com/onTour/sea...tats?year=2000 It has Tigers actual scoring average from 1997 to 2009. In the year 2000 he had an average of 68.17 which was by far his best year. Since he is not improving (in fact has gone the other way) why not go back to Butch?
  22. Modern sniper doctrine has changed from exclusively head shots to center mass. Since most of our enemies these days do not have a medical support structure you could hit them pretty much anywhere with a .308 or .223 andthey are out of the fight.
  23. Alf- Sweet! 50,000 rounds is a testament to how well made that gun is. I guess a 10lb single barrel should be pretty durable :)
  24. Geezer, Lets agree to disagree. No harm in that!
  25. Ahhh... Iacas has a CZ. I vote that one of the prettiest pistols ever made.
