Made a large purchase, sight unseen, thoughts?
infoe replied to infoe's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I was recommended them by a fitter (without me hitting them, thats on another thread). kfitting seems to be the common response that I am getting. Since they are great clubs I figured I could benefit from their positive opinion and then have them fitted to fit me. I purchased then at an online reputable dealer with all stock shafts in stiff -

So I'm a lefty (tough to find clubs to demo) small business owner and proud new dad to a five month old boy. Haven't been playing as much as I'd like to but practice and recent rounds my play has improved. Scoring in mid to (rarely) low 90s Being someone that likes the "good stuff" but spends very little on himself I was able to treat myself to some new equipment. I haven't been able to follow demo days and usually very small selection of lefty stuff in local store so i made a purchase sight unseen after research and well want to see what you fine golfers think. Ap1 714 4-w1 irons Ping g25 driver,3wood,17 hybrid and 20 hybrid. -
My clubs are the callaway razr x they came in third in dispersion but at the same time im still very inconsistent..distance the rocketbladez, burner 2.0 rbz tour and my clubs were all about the same. I didnt get to try the AP1 because he did not have them. I'm not sure if I'm still a 36 handicapper I have not updated that in a while. I do not take any offense and understand the logic behind your post. I'm still inconsistent but I have made much strides in my striking consistency. I went with the intention of getting fitted for "my clubs" it veered to a recommendation of the ap1 I think this is an excellent recommendation I really do. I may switch out the shafts..I'm not such a beginner anymore but I am still inconsistent...I do/have taken lessons. I was under the assumption based on golf pro and what i read on forums that even for a beginner it's important to get fitted. based on my fitting yesterday it seems that it was geared more to mid to low handicap players. I will look into changing out the shaft..I was considering the ap1 because if it was "better" than my current club and would help or be more game improving then I would want to go that route.

my golf pro recommended me this club fitter that used to be part of the Jim Mclean network. paid $175 for fitting I have the trackman info there the actual fitting report does not seem to have much. Ultimately he recommended me to switch to AP1 clubs from my callaway razr x...now I'm lefty so It's not as easy for me to walk into a store and see a set of all the irons in lefty and try them..most of them have a set or two if any and that's it. I bought my razr x sight unseen because they had them on a super sale. I'm not opposed to switching to the ap1's if their unequivocally better. I'm not opposed to switching to them also because fitter said their easier to bend/work with than my razr x just not sure what to do..any thoughts on if it the ap1 is an upgrade? if anybody is interested in seeing my trackman report and or club fitting report (which is just one page, and basically states I should be using stiff) I'll send over.

Im an insurance agent and can tell you that yes the vehicle owner could file a claim against your homeowners liability if you gave them that information. They could also just file the glass claim through their auto carrier and be done with it.

So I will preface this by saying, I have a lesson scheduled on Tuesday. This Pro is part of the Jim Mclean school here in S. Florida and while I had tried a couple of pro's here in Miami, these group of coaches have significantly improved my game. I shot my FIRST birdie ever yesterday! I digress. Since I've built my own golf net I've had the capacity to use it indoor comfortably to a 3hybrid realistically my 4hybrid. Can't tee it up with driver and swing inside the house and the 3 wood I'd have to swing softly (I don't want to decelerate) so those clubs get no practice. (may not be a bad thing because I have very little confidence in them and not sure if I am using a correct swing for these clubs) I've become proficient with my irons and been recently working on impact position and having arms and weight forward...which has translated to solid contact on the ball and divots after the balls position not before. *EDIT* I may be putting or leaning too much weight forward for driver and 3 wood* I treat my 3hybrid and 4 hybrid essentially like long irons and I connect with them and my other irons very well. (or much improved) I went out today to the range to practice 3 wood and driver.my 3 wood I am attempting to use the same technique and hit down on it or have arms forward but I am very inconsistent sometimes duffing hard into the ground just before contact, sometimes when I do make contact it shoots out extremely low and just rolls out and sometimes I will make a solid clean contact that feels like a correct shot. I think, like with my driver, my tempo may be off and my position of the ball may be too forward. All in all extremely inconsistent. My driver oddly enough went worse today at the practice session (being tee'd up) than my 3 wood from the turf.... :( If it wasn't for shots that would shoot out to the left (i'm a lefty) on a straight line (no slice) or i'd close my club face too much and I'd hook, to feeling the rubber tee when I'd hit it decently and only have it go 175 yards...my weight too far forward on the downswing (coming over my front knee)..to my tempo being too fast, to trying to hit up on it or hit down on it, I was just a mess. I know, nothing I've stated will help you fix "my" shot (I should have recorded)...but if you could generalize on what I should know to be the difference from hitting a 3wood from the fairway to hitting the driver off the tee box I'd greatly appreciate it. Lastly sorry for my long post, I had to somewhat rant and get out all the things I thought about after I came back from this practice session of just the 3 wood and driver.

the golf mat has been sliding around like crazy already...one slid so close that I did not realize and i swung into the net. I put the blanket down to catch the ball off the net and it's been working majority of the time but not always...I think an area rug is the way to go.

Hey all so I built my own golf net, I'm a lefty and currently live inside an apartment (for now) I can take it apart and put it back up relatively easy. My only issue is the mat that i purchased from all turf mat's I bought their best one but I just bought the strip....it's two inches off the ground where I strike the ball and I'm usually practicing bare foot...not sure if i'm doing myself a dis service by training by hitting a ball that's about two inches higher than the floor level. I want to purcahse the bigger mat but I don't think I can pull that one off with the wife until we have a home with a back yard. What are your thoughts? Sorry if this is not posted in correct section

I checked the specs on the irons to see what I had, now that I'm more into the game. www.callawaygolf.com/global/en-us/golf-equipment/classic-golf-equipment/razr-x-irons.html the pw shows 44...would have been nice to have had the AW as an option to purchase because it seems to match the loft I'm missing between my sand and PW
-
I have the razr x callaway 5-pw set that I purchased at an awesome price...think their like a year or two old type of clubs that I was in the market for irons and could not pass up on. I too find myself going up a club often of what I think I should be using because I'm ending up passed the hole, usually not short of it. I will search for a nice priced 50 gap. Thanks all,
-
seems like gap is the way to go from asking around at a couple of different places...I was able to purchase my 60 and my 54 second hand at great prices (i'm lefty) so I will do a search for a good 50 degree. I think it would be ideal to have had a 56 degree sand so that my gap and sand would have a better loft gap. I'm not a big tinkerer or change clubs often (at least not yet) Thanks for the help.

So I've got the golf bug bad at again...back into the game but still not scoring well (taking lessons) short version question I have a 60 degree vokey wedge, a 54 degree rx7? (taylormade) and from my new irons a 44 degree pitching wedge. the 60 degree is tough but I'm good at it for shots that I want to just go up and down and not release on the green...and some chipping near the greens. sand wedge I'm good up to about 100 yards and I use it out of the sand...It's probably my most versatile and confidence inspiring wedge. my pitching wedge well I use it 100 yards plus I don't use it or look at it as a wedge I really look at it as a 10 iron if you will...I use it as an iron where the 9 iron is too much club. any thoughts or input would greatly be appreciated.

possibly looking for a part time job, related to golf
infoe replied to infoe's topic in The Grill Room
all good points that make sense to me now, I would'nt have assumed there needed to be some sort of skill level or certain status quo in golf to acquire one of those positions but it does make sense. I guess anyone could be sold to train electronics but when it comes to golf they want someone with the experience to teach especially make their product look good. I'm going to consider it however...at a golf course or at a golf pro shop. -
not sure if this is the appropriate area but I currently work in the family business and it's more of a part time than anything else. Have'nt found a job since CompUSA closed down. I'm thinking of picking up a job related to Golf since it interests me so much in this part of my life. In CompUSA there would be independant representatives that would come to the store and speak about their products..ie : Sony, panasonic,Samsung,Linksys. Do the big name Companies like Nike,Calloway,Ping have any positions like that, where they go to the Sports Authority's,Dicks,Bass pro shops? anyone know anybody in that particular type of work? (not looking for an open position, just want to know if that exists)

Hello there everyone, lefty here from Miami fl, 28 years old and just wish I would have started earlier. I've had interest in the game for about 5 years now off and on but was always held back by not knowing another lefty WITH clubs that played. Girlfriend bought me a complete set of starter clubs for christmas and I've played two 18 rounds already with one lesson before my second session that Greatly Improved my contact and slicing issue. I'm very much hooked and look forward to learning and playing much more. I'm an analytical person so I love to study and research the things I find interesting and strive to get better. Look forward to learning many things here, Jose
