  1. Count me in as well. This sounds right up my (limited budget) alley. When you pick the first Sunday, please include me in the invite: brianATwhalendesignDOTCOM
  2. I would look for ViewTi (Golf, N) versions for good GPS based accuracy with yardages and a great database of courses. It was $25 for ViewTi N (green view only), with score cards for up to four players, and stat tracking. $50 for the full app (ViewTi Golf) included fairway view and zoom in/out over the course to see the full view of each hole. You can also try Golftraxx for basic yardages from each tee, distance to front/center/back of hole, and score cards. I think it was $5. I love my 3G iphone, and now it's my golf GPS device too. My buddy spent $350 on a Sonocaddy, where I only spent $50 for the ViewTi Golf app on a phone I already owned. :) Best, Brian
  3. I just cut my putter down to 33" from 35", and noticed a real difference in the way it felt (too light). I pulled the grip back off and added about 2.1oz of steel (a large bolt and several nuts, covered in a little electrical tape) to the butt and seated it firmly. Then re-gripped it and now it feels perfect. To me it feels like the center of mass is somewhere about 2/3 of the way down the shaft just where I like it.
  4. I agree with Razor, I think of swinging "through" the ball, rather than aiming at it. I tend to have an abbreviated followthrough if i try to focus on hitting the ball, rather than making a complete swing. One of the lessons I learned in Tae Kwon Do many moons ago was to visualize driving with your hips and striking through your target with a punch, rather than aiming at the person's chest. This created a driving punch into your opponent with much more power than a simple punch to the surface.
  5. I caddied for my father when I was about 8. He used to hide a few of my Junior clubs in his bag when he played at the course, and when he wasn't paired up with anyone and playing alone, he would let me chip & putt on most of the greens. I finally got old enough to carry my own set and we used to play occasioanlly. I sort of left golf for other hobbies (motorcycles, shooting) through the past 10 years, but have returned to golf now that my best friend picked it up and plays at least once a week.
  6. If you're a bargain hunter (like I am), I've hit the Goodwill a few times in the last couple of months a picked up used sand wedge for $5, and even a second pair of FootJoys with minimal wear for $8. Goodwills will vary by location for selection (if you live in a elite part of town with $500,000 homes, the pickings are much better, and nicer!)...YMMV.
