  1. Yea, I just read that thread for the third time. It's really good stuff but The reason for my original question was that since I've been practicing this move I am hitting more push/weak slice shots. I thought that maybe I was pushing too far forward.
  2. Thanks for clearing that up. Unfortunately, I used this as my first instruction and ended up spinning out way too early. Lateral hip movement to start the downswing has done wonders for my swing. Iacas, does your lateral hip movement take you over your left foot, as opposed to what the article advocates (staying inside the left foot)?
  3. I'm a bit confused. The image shown in that article is in my book, p.91 (paperback).
  4. Lately I've been thinking about the movement of the hips in the downswing. Specifically, after the lateral push towards the target. As you turn through the ball what feeling do you want with the hips? Is it more of a pull through by the front side or a push through by the back side. This video discusses this topic a bit. What do you guys think?
  5. Just a few questions regarding S&T.; 1. Is it really easier on the back as I have heard mentioned? If I remember correctly from the discussion between Dave and TM, this was one of their "agree to disagree" subjects. 2. Why does performance with the driver seem to be the most common complaint from those who try to switch to S&T;?
  6. I thought the release of the club was just supposed to happen naturally? How do you consciously release it early?
  7. It's definitely a push, as it goes straight left. When I try to alter my swing path, I hit a slice.
  8. I tee the ball up in line with my front big toe/heel. I'll work on releasing the club better next time at the range. Any suggested drills?
  9. Tried the allignment. I even aim more right of the target (I'm a lefty) anticipating the push and it still goes far left of the fairway.
  10. Just started playing this year and am really enjoying learning and playing. My one big problem is that I consistently have a HUGE push shot with my driver. I can hit my irons straight most of the time but I hit a big push with like 8 out of 10 drives. I've searched the forums, watched some instructional video, and tried to address some possible causes (mainly too much inside to out swing path) but to no avail. When I try to adjust my swing path I end up with a slice. Are there any obvious flaws that would cause this? I intend to post a swing check video as well as get lessons. This is just a last ditch effort before I do that.
  11. At which point should I start to speed my arms up? Should they still get a "free ride" until halfway down, and then speed them up? Maybe I've been too worried about my lower body controlling the shot that I am taking my arms completely out of it.
  12. Thanks for the response. I will work on that. I think I might be too fast on my downswing.
  13. I decided to start playing golf this spring and I am having a bit of difficulty with my swing. I read Ben Hogan's book and watched some instructional videos (Jim McLean and David Leadbetter) so I feel like I have a pretty good idea of the basic fundamentals and I have tried my best to apply them. Two things have been happening consistently with my shot. It either shoots way left (I am left-handed) or it goes straight but doesn't get off the ground. I am assuming the first is happening because I am not squaring the club face at impact. Not too sure about the second fault. Any suggestions? If I wasn't getting married and buying a house this summer, I'd spend the $ for lessons.
  14. Thanks for the input guys! I just bought them. Now I need it to warm up so I can take to the course.
  15. Thanks for the response! Another question, because they are called "long and strong" does that mean they are meant for someone who is taller? I guess I should ask the seller that question.
  16. I was looking for a set of clubs on EBay and came across these clubs: Item number: 140294204660 I was also looking at different sets of Wilson's (Ultra, ProStaff). Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
  17. I never really got to see that much of Jack, but I think the attention and excitement which Tiger has brought to the game will never be matched.
  18. I work for the State Parole Board. I'm your typical state employee, overpaid and underworked.
