  1. Wasn't today but shot a 112/28 points on Saturday and a 98/38 points on Sunday. I'm a 28 handicap and was playing in my clubs informal Sunday morning competition, I've now been cut to 27. This was the third time I've broken a 100 and currently trying to break 95, want to be consistently playing bogey golf by end of next summer.
  2. Competition on Saturday at my club, shotgun start and we're out on the 17th which is a tricky par 3. Birdies on there are near impossible even if you hit a pin seeker. I'm a 28 handicap so hitting greens on par 3 is very good for me. I watched the 13 and 20 handicap players I was playing with both missed the green, I stepped up and middled my first tee shot on to the green. I've been going through the early round shanks were my first few iron shots in a round can be a bit nervous and not very good. This was my best shot as I completely blocked it out and hit the green. Very rewarding!
  3. The 13th hole on my course is a short par 4 with a water guarded green, close to an island but not quite, run off at the back. I'd played a 6 iron from the tee to about 80 yards, stepped up with a 56 wedge and hit it to 5 feet. I'm a 28 handicapper so as expected I three putted, won the hole in a friendly match we were playing though due to having 2 shots on it
  4. So I posted on Thursday about getting close to breaking it after posting a couple of 103s, today was the day. Bang on 99. Funny thing was I was playing a friendly match play and worked out I'd played 93 after my tee shot on 18 as my partner had played a bad tee shot and I had to be able to know what leeway I had if I played a risky shot over water and went in to help win the match. Thought I could do it with an 8, I actually needed a 7 which I got! Feels pretty good, now for the medal off the whites tomorrow! Good luck to everyone else, it will come! Now where's the breaking 90 thread... ;-)
  5. Thanks for the reply boogielicious, I know from previous video analysis my weight shift needed work with most being on the back foot after impact. Going to get my friend to record some more videos on Friday evening with a few side on ones. Really appreciate your thoughts!
  6. Been lurking this thread for quite a while. Bit of background, I started playing golf just over 12 months ago, I'm currently a member at a club in Essex, England which is considered a tough course by high, medium and low handicappers. I'm a 28.0 handicap and currently trying to get off it. First time I played this course I shot 152, since then I've not been above 130 and recently (past 2 months) a bad round for me is more than 115. This weekend just gone I had a 103 off the competition tees and a 103 off the practice/yellow tees. My swing is quite consistent according to playing partners but my bad shot is a high slice with drivers/woods or a low pull hook with irons. My aim is to break 100 before the end of August whether this be a practice or competition round I just want to do it. My front 9 record is 49 (done on Sunday) and back 9 record is 45 (done twice). I have shot par on every hole and even birdied I think 5 holes so theoretically put that all together and I could shoot 5 under (just kidding). Best of luck to everyone else trying to break 100 and congratulations to those who have. My mid term goal is to be able to play very close to bogey golf by the end of next Summer and hopefully within 3-5 years get down to single digits. Very ambitious but I play twice a week, and hit the range 2-3 times a week hitting 60 balls a time. This is a 3 wood swing from the range last night.
  7. I've been Playing Golf for: 1 year 1 month My current handicap index or average score is: 28 handicap, scoring between 103-115 My typical ball flight is: sporadic The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: low pull hook Apologies for the dark shot, was on my own at the range. Going to try and get some better videos tomorrow evening when I go with a mate. Videos:
  8. On Sunday I had ~130 yards FOG on a par 5 where I was playing my fifth shot as I'd gone 3 off the tee. I have two shots on this hole being a 28 handicapper and was on a role with point scoring having gone three 3 pointers in a row. I wanted at least a point on the hole to keep going. The shot was blind and the flag looked as though it was in the middle of the green. Lie wasn't great, in the rough little bit of mud. I committed to trying to hit the centre of the green and hit my 8 iron full. It looked good in the air but still wouldn't know until I got to the green. Rounding the corner there it was lying 9-10 feet from the hole, potential 3 points still on offer after going 3 off the tee. P.s. I two putted for 2 points!
  9. Wasn't today but at the weekend I shot a pair of 103s off the Competition tees on Saturday in a Stableford comp (35 points) and off the Practice tees on Sunday (33 points). I'm currently a 28 handicapper trying to break 100. The round on Sunday I shot 49 on the front nine (best ever) then it started chucking it down. The group I was playing with went in after 12 but I soldiered on as it was a good chance to break 100. Needless to say, the day is still eluding me!
