  1. It is probably more common for amateurs to lose consistency and even distance if the lengthen their swing too much. However, distance and power will come with a longer, controlled swing. In my opinion you have more rotation available to you before it begins to go south on you. So, I think you can experiment with it a bit. You have a really solid foundation, so I think you can work on it. Would be interested to see a head on video with some attempts at a longer swing.
  2. Great swing foundation. I think it's just time for you to go beyond the abbreviated swing. Let the hips rotate further on the backswing and just think about allowing your backswing a little more time to set. This will lead to a longer backswing.
  3. I've been playing for 30+ years and am a 6 index. Played div 3 college golf and now with a family barely play but still break 80 on 1/3 rounds. My misses are blocked right (woods). I usually hit a draw with irons and sometimes my trajectory is a bit lower than I'd like, particularly if I don't finish the follow through well.
  4. Back at my alma mater (18 years since graduation) playing a fun afternoon nine with my old golf team buddies. We see each other once a year at this event. I block my 3-wood into the right trees, and rather than try to hit the impossible shot at the green, I punch it into the fairway (that would never have happened when I was 20). I proceeded to hit a towering sand wedge from about 105 right at it. One bounce short of the hole, second bounce after the hole, spins back in for a birdie. Reliving youth!
  5. Can I receive input on my swing please? My own observations: > Head moving back. Overall too much lateral motion. > Arm breaking because I'm overswinging and am just not that flexible. Any observations and/or suggestions to improve welcome. Thanks, Pete
  6. I agree that using a mirror is the best solution for this. Got this guidance from a pro a couple years ago and it really transformed my swing. Specifically, he said to put a piece of tape on the mirror aligned to your nose (so vertical). Take your golf club and lay it across your upper arms, and then fold your arms so that your hands are resting on the opposite shoulders. This holds the club in place. Now assume your stance facing the mirror. Practice rotating back and through concentrating on keeping your nose aligned to that tape (both back and through, though eventually on the through you will come up and out). You'll see right away when your head moves back. Note your head can and should turn a little, but your head should not move back. It also should be noted that unless you're a very low handicapper that you should attempt to keep your head vertically level as well throughout. Only the best athletes can do the dip move with consistency, so he suggested I go for maintaining consistent head heigh as well. It will feel very strange at first, but repeat that 20 times for a few days in a row and then take it to the range. Good luck.
