  1. I agree. A bit tentative at the end but closing is never easy. I felt bad for him ast year's Players even though he hit too much club at 17. I like the guy. You don't hear him mentioned as much as Kim, Villegas, (I like these guys too) and others...but I expect a lot more wins from him.
  2. Nice thread gentlemen. Thanks Shorty for pointing this out...that annoys the hell out of me when people say the COULD CARE less when it is COULDN'T! Also great points Mr. Bareski...indeed it is the usually strongest field of any event. The Players is not a major and most likely never will be considered a major...but I do think it is a GREAT tournament and it is the 5th "best" tourney--here's why. On Sunday if it's a tight race the potential drama at 17 and 18 can be outstanding. Think about O'Hair down the stretch and Goydos in the playoff and what happened to them at 17 last year...and 16 can also add a lot of drama...think about Craig Perks incredible three hole finish several years ago. The finishing holes alone make it fun to watch. I was lucky enough to be there when Pate jumped in the lake the first year the event was played on the Stadium course...I haven't been back unfortunately as I live in Texas now. On more quick question: Eric what do you mean by "unless we lose the PGA or The Masters"? Just wondering--thanks.
  3. Brakkus-- I think it's a great sign that you are realistic about what you're shooting. I'm assuming you're playing by the rules of golf. My advice is keep the ball in play...avoid penalty strokes by not knocking a tee shot OB, count all your putts, know the rules and play by 'em ...even if others in your group don't. You don't have to be a stickler about it with your buddies however. Just keep your own score and turn in those scores at a course if you can...or at least use an online handicapiing service. As you improve you'll have a real sense of satisfaction because you know the rules and play by them. So many guys are delusion about their golf games and the length they hit their clubs. Their egos tell them they "average" 280 yard drives and shoot in 90s/80s/70s (or whatever) consistently...but many are only kidding themselves. Over time as you improve the caliber of playing partners may increase and your knowledge of the rules will really pay off--plus you'll gain immense respect. Many golfers are delusional regardless of handicap too. A quick story...Monday a week ago (after the Masters) a buddy and I are playing--we're not even betting because we're both a bit foggy after a Masters watching party...we're both 9-10 indexes...anyway he's even through 8 and standing on the 9th tee he says "man if I could eagle this par 5 like I did last time I played here, two under heading to the back nine would be great"...he then promptly shank/skulls/slices his drfiver dead right out of bounds and stands there stunned...he then walks back to the cart and says "I'm taking a "Monday mulligan"--huh???!!! He then "pars" the hole and shoots "even" on the front...but it's BS. He then goes on and on talking about his goal has been to break 80 before June on this course and "I have a real good chance today"...needles to say he gives himself an 8 footer for bogey on the back side and takes another bogey when he really made double and shoots a nice "80"...which was really at least an 83 maybe an 84...(I kind of lost interest in his BS because there was no bet)...I had a few doubles, several three putts and a lost ball and shot 86...my point is he is delusional...and he often breaks "80" but very rarely when he plays with me...wonder why?!!! Ahhh, that felt good. Play by the rules, keep it in play, keep a handicap, and most of all enjoy it...thanks.
  4. I think you should certainly consider the Mizuno MP-T series...I bought a MP-T 47 degree to replace a lost sand wedge and the feel is incredible...I'm considering an entire set of Mizuno irons. Here's a link-- http://www.mizunousa.com/equipment.n...olf&cat;=wedges
  5. Hello-- I'm new here. Greetings from Texas. It seems there are a lot of knowledgeable posters on the Sand Trap so I thought I'd solict some free feedback. I am considering new irons. I have been playing a set of Callaway X-12s since 1998. They are still good clubs and I like them a lot...but I have the buying itch I suppose. I have had several custom fitting sessions over the years and just never bought new irons. I have satisfied my equipment desires and equip tweaks with Drivers, putters, wedges, and hybrids. I am tempted to test the new iron technology and see what it can do for me. I am a 9.2 index. I'm 46 and in decent (ha!) shape. Maybe I'm just thinking better and using better course management and a positive attitude...and for whatever the reasons I'm am scoring the best I ever have. I bought a Mizuno 47 degree wedge to replace a lost PW and the Mizuno feels so damned solid. It's a forged club and the feel is especially nice around the greens. I hit the Mizuno MX 200s and while I like these clubs for the most part they just don't knock me out. I also "demo-ed" the Adams IDEA TECH a4 HYBRID irons and loved how the six iron felt and looked...in fact really LOVE the look of these irons...one of my reservations is the 4 & 3 hybrid replacements...I wish they had at least a 4 iron. I can hit my Callaway 3 iron pretty well...I have a lot of confidence in the 3 iron...it is after all considered a "game improvement" iron I suppose and it seems a tad bit oversized compared even to the MX 200's. Ok, so here's my question: if you have the Adams IDEA Tech a4s what do you think of them? Did you get any custom fit specs? Do you miss the 4 or 3iron...I haven't hit the hybrids from this set...have you? Anything else you can add is appreciated. Thanks for reading my rambling and thanks for any input.
  6. Thanks for posting the link. I'm going to pass this on to several buddies. This article is true. And even though rckwd you don't like either golfer thanks for contributing...I find no matter what opinion you may have there is a decent amount of fairly intelligent comments on these two golfers on this site and the Masters was great golf with lots of story lines. I will enjoy watching it again and again on the Hi Def DVR. As as I stated in a "Tharsh Talk" article comment here on TST...Tiger is a cock. I have two close friends that are on the PGA Tour--one is a player and one is a caddie...they will testify that Phil is more liked than Tiger. And he indeed absolutely hates to lose at ping pong. Oh, and the Phil/Nick exchange was funny.
  7. Tiger will not win the Masters. Yes it was an amazing putt on 18 but O'Hair left the chance open by his play in the final round. And yes he may be the "beast" i.e. the devil...he's good--but Satan must be in on this--lol.
  8. I hear you...but that's just the style of Miller/NBC etc. Johnny can over state things. I don't think it's hype. Ogilvy is real. I think he will win more majors...many more. And he is indeed "smooth"...his swing, his personality, and he's cool without trying too hard at anything. His match play stats are astounding.
