  1. TGW is selling the Nike 5900 driver for $200 w/ a free Sumo2 Fairway wood. Sounds like a great deal!
  2. I'm beginning to get me some new equipment (G5 irons) and now I'm looking for a new 3 wood that will mainly be used for off the tee. I've never been able to hit a driver consistantly, so I've alway used a 3 wood. I'm not needing something for workability. Just something forgiving that hits straight and far. The new TM R9 looks nice, but I'm not sure if a high handicapper like me can get the full benefit out of it. Any suggestions?
  3. While I agree 100% that simulators aren't the most accurate thing but I do think they are accurate enuff to tell u the correct trajectory and your angles. Just don't put too much stock in the distant readings. What I don't believe is people saying that they are only in use to get people to buy a certain club. The simulators can't discriminate towards one club over the next. The simulator has no idea whether you hitting a $100 set from walmart or a set of Pings or Callaways.
  4. My next search will be for a 4H. I've hit the BB hybrid and G10 hybrid. Neither one i could hit for poop on the mats. Definately a club I'll need to practcie with.
  5. I'm quite sure I'll be placing an order for some custom G5's with AWT shafts. Quick question, if I choose to de-loft the clubs, does that still remain in the black dot category? Also, would I want to de-loft every club by a degree or just my long irons? I'm prolly only gonna order 5-PW with a couple wedges and a 4H. I really loved the Pings. Felt so great!
  6. I have an old Odyssey that I like very much, but tonite I tried out a few new ones at Golf Galaxy. The new white hot's I absolutely loved! The face felt so great contracting the ball. The nicest putter I tried all night tho, by far was a Scotty Cameron Fastback Studio. Wow, that thing was so well balanced! I don't think I could ever get myself to spend $300 on a putter tho.
  7. Tonight I spent a few hours on the Golf Galaxy simulator trying out quite a few different clubs. Mostly just paying attention to the feel of the club and my trajectories and angles, I was able to narrow my choices down to the Ping G5/G10 and the Titleist AP1. It seemed I hit the AP1's a lil straighter and the trajectory angle was better than the Pings. However I kept goin back to the Pings because it felt better swinging the club. Upon narrowing it down to those 2, I talked to them about fitting. He noticed that I was making contact slightly on the toe on each shot, so he recommended a 1/2" extended shaft. He had one on hand, and wow, that 1/2" made a huge difference. With the impact tape on, I now was showing I was hitting the ball consistently in the sweet spot. Sure glad I took the time to get fitted :) One thing I may have to do, is get the club de-lofted about a degree. My launch angle on a 6-iron was averaging about 19 degrees and they are thinking I should try to get that a little lower. Clubs I tried: TM Burner TM Burner Plus (didnt like the long shafts) Ping G5 Ping G10 Callaway X22 Callaway Big Bertha (both Callaways felt like i was hitting rocks) Titleist AP1 Nike Slingshot (surprisingly like them alot) Mizuno MX-200 (wanted to like them, but just didn't)
  8. Haha. I KNOW I have to work on my game too, but I'm like u, I'm not gonna do so until I have clubs that feel good, that i hit well, and that I have confidence in. I'm hoping to head down to Golf Galaxy for a couple hours tomorrow to hit as many clubs as I can and hopefully make my decision on which ones to buy.
  9. I'm just not sure what to contribute the 'sting' on the BB's to. Could very well have been the mat, weather, or range balls. Definately need to do some more testing.
  10. I've been looking online a ton tonite reading about the G5's and on paper, they look like those may be the ticket. I'm gonna do some calling this week and hopefully find a place where I can try them out and get fitted. I hope I can get the trajectory and distance I was able to get with the BB's, but with a 'softer' feel.
  11. Thanks. I definately am looking forward to hitting the Mizuno's and the new TM Burners. I need to go somewhere to try out some Ping G10's also. Heard good things about em. Noticed some great online prices on the G5, but aren't Pings usually custom fitted? So would it be wise to buy online?
  12. Also, there is a Golf Galaxy a couple hours from my place that I'm thinking about goin to. How much trust should I put in their simulators to find me next irons?
  13. Hello everyone. I've finally ready to start up golf again. I took a 5 year vacation from the game and now I got the itch again. I'm due for some new irons. I currently have Armour Ti100's (go ahead, laugh) and I've never been a fan of them. Way too big! Yesterday, I went to the proshop to hit some new irons and too, to see if i could still hit the ball at all. To my surprise, I was :) The only clubs I was able to try were the 2008 Big Bertha's. I was quite impressed on how I hit those. I was hitting my 7 iron a solid 160+ but for the life of me, i couldn't get used to he #4 i-brid. The ball had a very nice trajectory and they all went straight. However, the 'feel' of them wasn't that awe-inspiring. Maybe it was the 45 degree weather, the range balls, or the mat i was hitting off of, but they seemed to have alot of 'sting' to them. Other that that, I like them much more than my old clunkers. Now my question, what other clubs to u think I need to be looking at? SGI irons only or GI? I for sure want to try the new TM Burners and Burners Plus and also the new Mizuno MX200's. Any suggestions? Thanks! Also, I shoot usually in the mid 90's. Putting needs the most work :)
  14. Gotta be Tiger. Most intimidating and focused golfer of all time. Just hoping his knee probs doesn't put him down during the prime of his career.
