Take two of your most consistent clubs and have them re-gripped with both candidates. This is what I did, and I'm 100% positive I made the right decision. It cost about $10 extra, but it's well worth it.
I picked up a set of barely used G2's for $200 earlier this year. After putting some midsize grips on them, it's incredibly easy to hit the ball pure and straight. I hit some G5's one weekend at the local golf shop and hit them just as well as my own G2's. Mine are the blue dot's with the Ping true temper shaft.
Enjoy your G5's!
I'll most likely get it done soon, but I'm nervous. I used to have major issues slicing my driver, but I'm just starting to consistently hit it straight so I'm worries about changing grips. Hell, one of the problems I tend to slice my driver is probably because of the skinny ass stock grip
I'll add my thoughts to new grips affecting play.
I recently regripped my irons and wedges with the Lamkin Crossline Midsize. I've always had great confidence in my irons and short game around the green, but would have issues once in a while mishitting my irons/wedges. These larger grips have pegged my confidence meter no matter what my lie looks like.
Next step is to figure out if I want to regrip my driver and fairway woods...
I see so many guaranteed swing trainers but this one struck me as interesting. Any other comments? I'd be interested in learning if the pros use trainers like this outside of their swing coach.
I just had my clubs regripped with the Lamkin Crossline Midsize. The large majority of people think they look like an optical illusion (and I agree), but the size is perfect and they have just enough "tack". I'm a fan, I never realized how the correct size grip could breath new life into my Ping G2's.
