  1. Thank you for the replies this far. Anyone else? I need to decide within a few days.
  2. I am a high handicap player that has trouble staying consistent. One shot will be great the next I'll have trouble getting the ball in the air. I know it's got to do with my swing, but clubs do help. I am taking lessons in July and want to have a set of GI irons the learn with. I have the chance to pick up a 3-PW set of Nike NDS irons for $100. Anyone have experience with them? Any help would be great... thank you in advance! *btw I currently play with a set of acuity GS-1 from Dicks. Thank you!
  3. My budget is around $225 or so. I figure that I will need to get my clubs fitted to me (at least according to the online caculators) once I get my swing worked out at my lessons, so I need to keep that cost in mind.
  4. I am on a budget so keep that in mind. I am going to take lessons in a few weeks and want to get a new set of irons to replace my 7 year old acuity set. Through online and local shops here are my options within my budget. Please let me know what you think would be best. The list is high to low. 1. Nike Slingshot OSS (3-PW) 2. Nike CCi (3-PW) 3. Nike Ignite Irons (with the hybrid 3, 4-PW) 4. Adams Idea A2 OS (4-6 Hybrids, 7-PW) I have hit the first two and hit the slingshots better then the CCi. However, since I will be taking a total of 5 leasons (and 1 round on the course) I know everything about my swing will change (deservedly so). Any opinions on the above clubs would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I'm pretty new to golf but I found this rule and I follow each time I play. I fix what I think is my ball and at least 1 other.
  6. I'm very new to golf and looking for clubs. My plan is this. Go to a store and get fitted for clubs. If a store has a set of used clubs that is close to the price I can get online, I'll buy them and expect a discount on the club fitting. If they don't have a used set that is close on price, I'll pay full price for the club fitting (so I know what I need) and then go buy them online. Seems like a win-win for both parties.
  7. I am pretty new to golf. I played a round on Friday and noticed that I barely take a divot. From reading on this board.... this is a bad thing. Is there a specific drill or trick that will help me practice on the range? I mean it's obvious if I hit it fat, but other then that no so much. I just found a product called "the divot mat" that you place on the ground, take swings, and it shows your contact. However, it is very expensive. Is there anything else I can take to the range to improve this aspect of my swing? Thank you very much in advance!
  8. If you're wearing some adidas running type shoes.... Check out the Adidas Power Band Sport. I just picked up a pair off e-bay for $40 total (last year's model) and they are great!
  9. Since I'm trying to get more serious about golf I am looking to replace my 6 year old set of acuity irons. I have a high handicap so am looking for GI irons. I haven't been fitted for clubs yet. Really it's a budget issue (I know that being poor and playing golf doesn't really fit, but I digress), but every online customon fitting calculator has me needing: Between +.5" - +1" Regular to firm flex. I recently found online a set of the Cleveland Launcher LP Irons with stiff flex and +1". The price is amazing $115 with free shipping. What is your opinion on the LP Launchers? Some reviews say that the are not great for the high handicap golf because they are lower profile. Other reviews say they are great. What does everyone think? Thank You
  10. ****EDIT**** In the past five minutes I found something called "shaft extender". It seems this would fix the problem described below. However, when doing a search there is no mention of them Hello, first post after reading for some time. ***Cliff notes of following Post*** I want to buy a used set of irons for around $250. I think I need +1" length. However, I need help finding a website that carries used clubs that are not standard length Thank you ******************** I've been playing a couple rounds a year for the past 6-7 years. I'm going to be graduating law school in a year and a lot of my lawyer friends play golf at least once a week. So I really want to get into it more seriously. For the past several years I've had an acuity set from Dicks Sporting goods. I want to invest in a newer set, but really don't have a lot of money to spend right now. So I am looking for a new set of irons. When looking online, most everything I find that is affordable (i.e. ~ $250) is in standard length. However, every online calculator says I need +1". Before I buy I am going to have my measurements taken professionally, and then take these numbers online to find a used set that I can afford. Before my fitting (and lessons starting in about a month) I just want to see what is available in my price range. So assuming that I am +1", is there any website (other then e-bay and craigslist) that typically carries longer clubs? ( I have looked at 3balls, globogolf, rockbottom, etc. but all these clubs are the standard length). Thanks
  11. Have you checked some of the used websites? 3balls.com always seems to update their used sets. Looks like there are some good deals too.

I'm turning 26 on Friday. I've played a couple rounds a year since I was 18... but now I'm trying to get serious and not just use golf as an excuse to drink beer while hacking the ball around
  13. I currently work as a law clerk for a large insurance company. Once I finish law school.... who knows?
