  1. Exactly. I had TM R7 Draw irons before I switched to the Mizuno MP-57. I lost 10 yrd per iron. It wasn't until I realized that the loft was different and that was the reason for the difference in distance.
  2. Check out the Taylormade R7. It's $399 for the 4-AW if you can get your hands on a set.
  3. I agree on the Rife. Awesome putters. Check out the TM Rossa Fontana. It isn't a blade or a mallet, it's pretty much a hybrid between the two. I think it retails for $119. Last night I putted with the new TM Spider w/ agsi and it feels awesome. I think it is $150.
  4. I do the same when there is more green to work with. The less the ball is in the air, the better. Like Blades4Me, I will pull out the hybrid from time to time and use it almost like a putter just off the first cut.
  5. Absolutely. I work in retail sales at a local golf shop and we see a lot of Burner 09 irons flying out the door. The feedback we get is really good and they tend to come off the clubhead a bit hotter than most. Keep in mind, that is partly due to the fact that they are delofted i.e. the six iron has the same loft of most 5 irons. That is mainly the reason players are seeing more distance. I was fitting a guy the other day with some Burner 09s and some Nike Victory Splits. We tested both six irons, and the Burner 09 was getting about 15 yrds more distance with the six iron than was the Nike. We then checked the lofts and the Burner 09 was 27 degrees with the Nike being 30. The Burner 09 is a great iron, and with the inverted cone technology, ball speeds are higher than any iron on the market.
  6. I see a lot of different swings everyday at work. I see this a lot. Try opening your leading foot a little toward the target. That will help you in getting around and helping your chest open toward the target. This also occurs with players that have a negative attack angle, so ball positioning may be something you may want to look into.
  7. I agree 100%
  8. I think a hybrid iron would fill in that gap very nicely. I would also help you to hold the green on the approach.
  9. Have you tried the Callaway Tour i? That is the softest ball I have ever played. Almost too soft.
  10. The Mizuno MP series are great wedges, especially if you play forged irons. They come in a 14, and if you still find yourself digging and hitting fat shots, just round off the leading edge a bit with a grinder. Your local club repair shop can help you with that.
  11. Personally, I find 9 holes to be a waste of my time. I always find after going 9, I want to continue playing. If I lived next to a course that would be a whole different story, but the time it takes to get all my gear together, warmup, etc, I would rather do 18.
  12. I agree with you Leftygolfer. If you notice on tour, those guys take huge divots due to the steep swing they take at hitting down on the ball. Even with those long irons. Irons are "digger" clubs. Woods are "sweeper" clubs.
  13. Yes, flopdarock is correct. Most retailers are selling the TP Red for $42/dozen or $55 for two dozen. I work in golf retail sales, and we have them priced the same. In answer to your question, yes, you should see more distance with the TP Red. It is a ball that is designed for a lower trajectory and players looking for lower spin. The E5+ is more of a higher trajectory/higher spin ball which will turn into less yardage due to the softer core.
