  1. Blue Ridge Pro: No worries. Like you, I see your point about the excess capacity etc. but changing a private club to think differently when for 80+ years they were full, had a waiting list, could raise dues or assess made life kind of easy and some even became complacent. Compound this with multiple boards for the decision making process and it can be really long and arduous to get a club to adopt something new! A club didn't need to change when you had these luxuries. Trust me we are trying to encourage them to post a few times so it's easier for our members. Certainly, I would like to talk to you about your club and how they can join Boxgroove. After all, the strength of the network is getting more private clubs to participate. Can I get you to send me an email to customer.service@boxgroove.com so we can discuss what Boxgroove can do for your club! We will have Zip Code search functionality in our next release this coming fall 2013 so searching for clubs by zip code will be easy. Again, we certainly hope many of The Sand Trap golfing community will join us and help us expand the network. -McRedmond
  2. Hi Blue Ridge Pro First, thanks for joining Boxgroove. We certainly like having you as part of the Boxgroove community. I will try and address all of your concerns or points you mentioned. We have nearly 750 private clubs in 3 countries now. Certainly, we do not have the Oakmont’s or Merion’s of the worlds as Boxgroove Affiliated clubs. We never started out working with those caliber clubs. However, since golf is a great social game and we are a social site there are quite a few clubs that have members using our service that are of the caliber of the Oakmont’s or Merion’s of the world. Take a peek at the member affiliated clubs – there are over 1200 of them. You’ll see some pretty special names on this list! Our premium members can ask to be hosted by these club members. So we started with clubs that were NOT in the 5 star category or maybe as you called them the Low-enders. However, we think Donald Ross when he designed his courses did some really nice work regardless if it was to host a major or not. Some of these may be classified as Low Enders unfortunately but are wonderful golf courses and clubs. Each club controls the price they charge on Boxgroove. Boxgroove does NOT touch the price. We are not a discount site or about discount golf. What we are providing our members is the opportunity to play a private golf course that they may have never played before, play in mostly under 4 hours and in better condition than most public courses and you can warm up for 30 – 60 minutes on the range and not hit your 40 golf balls from a green mesh shag bag for an additional $5.00. Besides, many of these balls look like they have been hit down I-5 for 3 years. We hope this may be worth $15 - $50 more for golf on occasion from what you may normally pay? Of course these times are not going to be the peak times as the dues paying members are there. If you are retired (have a lot of free time) or traveling or even at home you can adjust your schedule to try something new? As for the search path - recognize it could be better and have this addressed in our version 3 of our software this coming fall. Right now you can use the clubs tab and search by State and City or by course name in our search bar. Plus if you log into your account, right from the home page (at the bottom) you can see the local courses participating inside Boxgroove within 50 miles of your home address. Plus you can see your favorites you have marked as well in this list. Private clubs work differently than public golf courses. Private clubs don’t post tee times as their members call or use self-service scheduling software to reserve a time. So that is why our clubs want our members to make a request. These dates/times you can see when making a request and you can see the exact price before you make the request as pricing can change by day of the week or season. Most clubs only take requests 2 – 14 days out from today’s date as most private club members cannot make a tee time more than 14 days out at their own private club. Version 3 will allow one to search by zip code if you would like. I can tell you when I travel from Seattle for business to Oklahoma City I don’t know the zip (s) of where I’ll be staying in the city. I just know the rental car name for the car pick up and the name of the hotel I’ll be staying. But certainly we understand the desire some may want to search on zip. Lastly, not every golf course participating with Boxgroove will be accessible by all golfers. The private clubs have a very elaborate set of parameters they can set and control everything on Boxgroove. One month something may not be available to you the next month it may. Some golfers may be able to make a request to one club but not another. With the legend on the clubs tab we are trying to make it very clear how the private clubs are participating with us. There are three ways a private club is on Boxgroove. First is: they are Boxgroove Affiliated – almost 750 of these clubs. We list these first in the search and they are designated with typically the club’s logo and the Boxgroove orange golf club’s logo. The second way a club is on Boxgroove is: Member Affiliated. This club has the blue silhouette of a golfer (anybody know who this iconic golfer is?). This club is NOT using our service but one too many of their members have joined our social network. Our premium members can use our system to submit a request to be hosted by these members. These members may or may not decide to host you. However, golf is a great social game and we see many of our members hosting other Boxgroove members. No this round is not free…you will pay your host. The third way is No Affiliation. This club is marked by the universal red circle with a line thru it. The reason we list all private clubs inside Boxgroove is to help somebody with their research on a private club. If you relocate to North Carolina you can select the State North Carolina and the city Raleigh and now you can see a quick reference of all the clubs in this city. Almost 5 years into to it and it’s very hard what we are doing but we think we are helping the golf industry. Certainly, we would love to have you as an ambassador of Boxgoove and become optimistic. Have a few of your golf friends join our site as members. It’s free to join. Book a round at one of our courses when you travel. We have clearly noticed a pattern that as more golfers have joined Boxgroove more private clubs are taking an interest to be in front of these avid golfers. And this is what our community would like - more golf courses participating. We still have no advertising and no spam. We want the golf community to enjoy the site and hopefully enjoy a new experience at a private club. Who knows you may even join that club after you try it? Feel free to reach out to me directly at customer.service@boxgroove.com and I’ll see if we can make our service better for you. -McRedmond CEO/Founder www.Boxgroove.com
  3. BCP - thanks for the nice note and we look forward to you trying the service when you travel.
  4. BCP – we saw your post and wanted to address this as we think the service is very clear with nearly 31K golfers who have joined and almost 750 private clubs in 3 countries now. Boxgroove was created initially to make traditional reciprocity easier so members of clubs would NOT have to make a bunch of phone calls back and forth to their club pro and then the club pros to club pros trading calls. Harness the technology everyone uses today whether it be a laptop, i-Pad or smart phone. Along the way we realized that other avid golfers who did not belong to a club found Boxgroove a great way to test drive a club and ultimately join. So we made our service available for all golfers and let the clubs control all aspects of how they participate. If you take a moment to look at our legend on the clubs tab you can see how clubs are affiliated with us. Private clubs have one of three designations on Boxgroove. The legend says clubs are either: 1) Boxgroove Affiliated – these clubs are enrolled in our service. These clubs have the Orange Boxgroove Logo and typically the club’s logo. 2) Member Affiliated – these clubs have a blue silhouette golfer next to their name. These clubs have one to many of their members who have joined Boxgroove. These members can host our members who request to be hosted by them. IMO golf is a great social game and to be enjoyed playing with others. 3) No Affiliation – these clubs are not using our service and have no members who have joined. They are delineated with the universal no entry or no access symbol - a red circle with a line thru it. Also, you can see in red for these clubs – This club is not affiliated with Boxgroove. The reason these clubs are listed is Boxgroove is a resource for golfers to help find a club they may want to join. For example, if you lived in Detroit and moved to Raleigh NC you could go to Boxgroove select the state of North Carolina and the metropolitan area Raleigh and you could see all the private clubs in this area to begin your research. We hope this legend and text is clear now? We never want to mislead our community of golfers. 4+ years later we have nearly 750 private clubs –we hope we are doing right by the golfers and the private clubs. Do we have every golf course participating? Of course not! Would we like more to join us? Certainly! You said you belong to a private club – we would enjoy getting your club to participate. It makes the network stronger so your options are 100x’s times better here than having to bug your golf pro with phone calls. Feel free to drop us a note at customer.service@boxgroove.com and we can follow up with you.
  5. Hi Colin: that is correct. It takes 90 seconds to register. It's free to register. I would say 80% of our clubs charge their accompanied rate. I hope this helps.
  6. Rick Martin - which one is your home course? Is it public or private? If it's private we would love them to join Boxgroove. We'll never compete with Golfnow on price on Boxgroove. It's not about discount golf on our site. It's about a 4 hour round of golf, a new golf course to experience, warm up on the range for 45 minutes with all the golf balls you need to get your game ready. We like to think we have a lot of quality golf courses. We hope the golfers from The Sand Trap will enjoy the service. It's grown quite a bit since The Sand Trap covered us. Here's a great quote from a recent Boxgroove member who played a top 100 Modern private course on the Golfweek 2012 rankings. Rating: "Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined playing a round at Pumpkin Ridge private. If it wasn't for the great work Boxgroove is doing it never would have happened. I was heading on a business trip to Portland for the first time and found Boxgroove about a week before I was to arrive on a Sunday. The experience working with the Boxgroove team was PERFECT !!!!! When I got to Pumpkin Ridge they have everything ready and waiting for me. The rental clubs and cart were right outside the pro shop doors. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Said to head up the range and hit until I was ready. There were not very many people and I was able to sit at each tee box and take in how wonderful the experience was. The course was in excellent condition even with a lot of rain. The greens were perfect. I would highly recommend playing not only because of the history, but the immaculate conditions. Boxgroove - Thank you again and look forward to using your service whenever possible." Written by Don LaMure • March 21st 2013
  7. Icognito - OH....sorry you haven't had a chance to play any courses in the ATL. We have keep adding courses every week. Within about 2 or 3 hours if you every find yourself travelin and taking your sticks there are some great courses. Rome wasn't built in a day and changing the golf industry doesn't happen over night. We've added 3 more great courses in Ohio this week alone. When you head back to C-bus to congratulate the Bucks winning the NCAA's make sure to bring your clubs!
  8. Clambake: our service is free...that why we created it that way so you don't buy something that is not going to be of value to you. It takes 90 seconds to join. And we have Zero advertising or spam on our site. So you can watch us grow and join the revolution of you can just be a fan and watch from outside the ropes. We hope you join us.
  9. Hi Nuclear Mike. What neck of the woods do you live in? We are working many areas of the country. Drop us a line and let us know where you live and we can update you. Certainly, we appreciate your support and patience while we build the network. If you find yourself traveling where we have courses participating make sure to pack your clubs!
  10. Hi Clambake: Trust us...we are working very hard to get more private clubs in So Cal to participate with us. As you can imagine this can be a very long and arduous process when dealing with multiple committees and clubs that don't like change. Part of the network effect is getting a few more golfers will show the private clubs that they want to be in front of this audience. There just may be a few dues paying members in and amongst us!
  11. Hi Righty. Thanks for the comment about Boxgroove. You are right about the growth and still being around! We enter our 4th golf season this year if spring would ever get here! We have nearly 700 private clubs now engaged with us and 25K golfers. Every golfer is welcome to join whether you belong to a private club or not. The best part is it's free to join. Take the 90 seconds and join our fast growing community. It's just golf. No ads, no spam. We have been fortunate to have a great community of golfers and of course the support of the private club industry . We certainly don't have every private course involved and there maybe a course or two you can't play inside Boxgroove but we know there are quite a few of our clubs who would enjoy having you at their fine facilities to see what their club is all about. Drop us a line at 888-918-1872 or feel free to email us at customer.service@boxgroove.com. We hope you join us in 2013.
