  1. I plan to do the fitting, but wasnt sure if I wanted to buy yet last night. I plan to buy soon, but wanted to kinda look around and see what was out there, and see if there was anything I should look for, other than getting fitted.
  2. I lose mine all the time, even when I hit a good shot!
  3. I really not sure on accurate/longer. I really have a strange problem with my irons, as a lot of them just go the same distance. Trying to set up another lesson to get it figured out. However, Id like to get my own set of irons, as Im playing with some hand me downs from my dad, and when I got my driver and woods, I started hitting a bit better, as I think it was a slight confidence booster having my own and such. Budget I would like to stay at/under $600. I hit these two as they were on sale at Golf Galaxy.
  4. My dad told me to look for graphite as well, but the guys at the shop said to stick with steel as its for older and slower swinging players mostly. So Im not sure if graphite would benefit me or not? I believe when I was fitted for my driver I was roughly around 105mph, +/-2.
  5. So, I really dont know what to look for in a set of irons, other than being forgiving. I stopped and swung some Nike Slingshots and TM Burners. Liked them both. Just not sure if one would have benefits over the other? Is there anything else I should be considering when looking for a new set? Any big difference between these 2 sets why I should perhaps side with one or the other?
  6. So I hit the driving range frequently in between outings to help improve my game. Im getting much better off the tee with my driver, fairway woods are improving drastically, and my irons are starting to come around. Now Im trying to get distances down, on which club I need for each. So how much different is the distances on the range, vs on the course with a ball thats not "dead"? My dad tells me could probably tack on an additional 25-50 yards of distance. Would this be about accurate?
  7. Is this Shawn from CSS?
  8. Went down to Perry Park in Ky on Good Friday. 2nd outing, and even though my score doesnt reflect it, I was very happy with the way I was hitting the ball. Shot an overall 107. 56 on Whitetail, and 51 on Buckskin. Couple 8's on Buckskin killed me. Putting was pretty decent, mostly 2-putts, had two 4-putts that killed me. I hit my driver mostly straight most of the day, which made me very happy. Just have to adjust it back one turn now, as I have it set at -2 (have the SQ Dymo2 Str8 fit), and some of my shots went straight and left cause of it, so Im hopin to just turn it back to -1 and hopefully get back to neutral before long.
  9. Shot a 104 yesterday in the first 18 of the new year. Getting better off the tee, terrible slice issue last year. Irons are looking better as well, as Ive never hit them consistent.
  10. I believe this really is the only way out. With school starting back up, I dont have the money to throw at a instructor just yet. I realize I need lessons, and plan on doing it hopefully soon. Would like to get one lesson in before my trip to Perry Park next month.
  11. I guess its hard for me to really give that right now, as my game has been unconsistent. When Im out actually playing, I usually tend to use a 6-7 iron for a 150 shot. My driver, Wilson Staff Dd5 I think it is (10 degree loft), I tend to usually drive it around 200-250 at most I think when I actually hit it straight, Im terrible judging distance. Now Ive used my dads new Nike Dynamo, and I hit that prob 250 yards no prob not even trying, but thats with the face on a closed angle. My 3,4,5,6 I try to have the ball towards my front foot, obviously 3 up further than the 6. 7,8,9 I tend to usually position it with it in the middle of my stance, along with my Pitching wedge, and thats all the clubs I have, aside from my 5w, which is just a tad further back than my driver. My Pitching Wedge I say I hit around 100 yards, again, when I make solid contact. My irons are Wilson Staff, not sure what model, they used to be my dad's till he bought a new set. Steel shaft, stiff flex I believe (not 100% sure). Dad has told me they are a hard set to learn to play with, but there are days when I hit them great. I took a video on my cell phone at the range yesterday of my driver, not sure of the qaulity, having phone issues so it will be a few days till I get it on my computer to find out. I never considered the range ball factor. I guess it confused me, because my dad went with me last week, and he was hitting his 5 iron between 150-200 yard marker. Our range only goes to 200, but Ive drove it over once or twice when I did get ahold of it and was a straight drive.
  12. 49 views and nothing?
  13. Ok, so Im def gonna get lessons this fall or next spring, but am just looking here for some tips and advice to keep workin on my game. Problem is, most of my iron shots at the driving range are basically all roughly the same distance 3-5 irons usually range 150-180 yards if I hit it good. Everything after that is less than or equal to 150 yards. Now I have problems with slicing with driving and hittin irons, but am getting better. When I concentrate, and actually stay down on the ball, and try not to kill it, I usually tend to make good contact, but not the distance I think I should be getting. Whats the deal? Im mainly looking for advice/reasons on my poor distance with my iron shots right now. Every now and then Ill get about the right distance out of an iron, but more times they tend not to be what they should it seems like.
  14. Not to hijack, but I also struggle with a fade. What would be a good way to see if Im leading with my lower body and not just arms?
  15. I am from the Milford area of Ohio, and I know quite a few members are from the Cincinnati area. Im looking for a decent place to get some lessons at, for a reasonable price and reliable lessons. Id take it at the course minutes from my house, but dont trust the pro's there. Anyone know some good spots to get lessons at?
