  1. my goals were to break 100, and I practice 95 percent of my days during the '09 season, I didn't achieve that goal, so I'm a little bummed. When I started golfing last summer, I thought that since I have way more free time than the average person, I'd be able to get really good really fast as long as I practice constantly and take a few lessons. I was able to see very very slow improvement, and then I somehow sprained my elbow and ever since, I've not been the same. I've been working my ass off with the hope that if I practice as much as humanly possible for a full season, I'd be really good by the end of this season, and then I could start expecting to be a pro some day after another 2 or 3 years of practice. But this is proving to be way too hard.
  2. Ha, this reminds me of one of the american pie movies.
  3. Yeah, in the hotter summer months, it's way worse. But I honestly can still smell it, even if I just hit the driving range that day. I take a divot with every iron shot, and about 50% of the time, it's just the right amount of divot. But if you're taking divots at all, then I guess the dirt that flies in the air covers your clothes over the course of the round.
  4. Oh, yeah I do notice that... What if I get my own ball though? I figured bowling balls stink like that cuz of everyone eating pizza or whatever and bowling and not washing their hands and stuff.
  5. Yeah I think it's good to have a hobby, I like golf, but that smell makes me sick. I'm taking up bowling once it gets too cold to golf here.
  6. yeah I do tend to hit some fat shots, I think that's how I screwed up my left elbow, my game hasn't been the same since...... but.. yeah, sometimes it just seems that if you went golfing, then you're gonna smell that way.. I wouldn't be surprised if you smelled that way if you just walked from start to finish from tee to green for 18 holes, and didn't even play.. it's like the atmosphere of a golf course does that to you. It seems to be your shirt that you smell. If I change my shirt, then I can sometimes go without showering after a round.
  7. The way you smell afterward. Anyone know where I'm coming from?... I notice it every time I get in my car to leave the course after a round.. and I can just smell the dirt covering my whole body.
  8. I was golfing at bunker hills in minnesota. I was alone and I ended up joining up with these two 55 year old guys. They seemed drunk. They seemed like nice people, and seemed pretty normal. But on almost every hole they had to stop and pee, and they didn't even go into the woods.. they'd just walk to the side of the fairway, turn around and start peeing in the rough, and when we got to like the 8th hole on the back nine, of course, one of them had to piss again.. and this time, the guy just stood on the cart path, whipped it out, and started pissing on some trees right there. Then as that was happening, the drink cart girl drove right past me and saw him pissing there. She stopped and turned her head at me and whispered: "Oh my god, why didn't you tell me not to drive over there". I'm pretty sure the guy saw her driving over towards them, and he just kept on going without a care in the world. I felt pretty bad for her... she kept looking at me, she asked me to tell her when he was done so she could keep moving. And after it was safe for her to go, she drove right past them, and they actually asked her for a beer. I was hoping they'd get kicked out or something, but, nothing happened. Man that was uncomfortable.
  9. My best 18 hole round is 103 at Chomonix http://chomonix.com/ I'm 21 and I started golfing in July '08. My goal this summer was to break 100... and I have gotten really close, but I don't think it's gonna happen. I golf constantly, almost so much that my body can't take the stress, and it costs a fortune. I've always been a perfectionist. I always like to be the best I can at anything I try to do, whether it's my job, or anything. So when I started golfing, I became addicted instantly and I decided that I would like to be a pro golfer. Anyone I talked to said, "well, practice makes perfect, just practice practice practice", and that's exactly what I've been doing almost every day since the snow melted in April. Any round this year that I've had a chance to break 100, I always seemed to ruin it during the last few holes. And for the last month or so, something has been wrong with my left elbow, like I'm getting tendonitis or something, and all season long I've been trying to get a curve in my spine fixed. So a lot of physical problems are getting in the way of my practice and are making the game less fun all together. I'm thinking I just need to take a break from the game for a while.
