  1. Big Stone Golf Course in Three Lakes, WI. Tee off on (I think it was the 8th) hole, keeping right since the score card shows a dog leg right. Land in perfect position. Get to the ball, and look for the hole, whoops, it's a dog leg LEFT. Tell the lady at the proshop/bar; "Oh...yeah...Forgot to tell you. Whoops."
  2. We go to Destin every year and stay at SanDestin. Their courses are nice, but very $$$. I've golfed at Emerald Bay, http://emeraldbaygolfclub.com/ the last couple years, and enjoyed it. Nice course, and ~1/2 as much as the SanDestin courses.
  3. Even cheaper than the other two, nice. I'll definitely check that one out, thanks.
  4. I'm looking to replace my old Cobra 460SZ. It's got the stiff shaft on it, and when I buy a new driver, I'm going to get fitted to see if I still need one. I got the stiff shaft initially because I'm a big guy (6', maybe 260lbs) who swings hard, and I liked that it didn't flex. I'm not sure it's helping me much though; sometimes I fight a slice. I usually shoot in the 100-range, give or take, and I've been playing since 2004. I play maybe two dozen rounds a year (I'm in Chicago, we play 6 months/yr.) Anyways, I'd like to keep it under $300 or so, and I'm plenty open to new (or newish) models from last year or whatever off eBay. I was looking at the TM Tour Burner, since I have a TM Rescue that I love, and the Tour Burner is about $150 at my local Dick's. Also, I saw that the Callaway FT-9 was very highly rated, and while it's out of my price range, the FT-5 is supposed to be similar and much less expensive. Anything else I should look at? I've got a Dick's right down the road, and a Golf Galaxy and a Golfsmith (though they tend to be about $50 more than Dick's) and obviously the aforementioned eBay.
  5. Whoa whoa whoa...it's not? Blast. I must've picked up the wrong sport. PS...you forgot to mention beer-guzzling. Seriously though, who cares? It's a whole heck of a lot of fun. I wish it was called "work" instead of "sport" or "game" so I could play mid-week more often.
  6. I guess I gotta say it's situational. In the OP's situation, and in a tournament, league/high school play, and when betting, I'm honest to a fault. But, I gotta say, when I'm out just shooting around with buddies, I have no problem using the old footwedge, dropping a ball when I can't find mine quickly, hitting a provisional or second drive if I know I'm not going to find the first one, etc. And we have the rule that no one shoots higher than an 8. But we all know we're doing it, we all agree to the same rules, and we don't use our scores for anything other than BSing at the bar afterwards (and if Guy A manages to beat Guy B for the first time, and we all know Guy A was using "the rules" and then makes a big deal of it we'll give him a ration of shit for it.) Like I said, when the score means something, absolutely, honesty is vitally important. But when it's a bunch of guys screwing around, petty arguments over "you didn't take a stroke when you moved the ball from behind that tree" can ruin a friendly meaningless round.
  7. As it stands now: Thinking about replacing the driver (it's about 4 seasons old now) and maybe some of the wedges. But pretty happy with it otherwise. And the sticks in the trunk of my sports car, when I had an older bag:
  8. I use my 60* from pretty much anywhere inside 100 yds, aside from a bunker. As far as what I leave out, I'm very inconsistant with woods off the fairway, and very consistant with my 22* RescueMid. So I carry Driver, hybrid, 3-PW, LW, SW, putter. Really, I almost never use the 3 or 4 iron, so I could take those out, and I already have an extra spot in my bag which I'm trying to decide how to fill. I am considering getting a 16* 2i RescueMid to go with my current 4i, but I don't know if I want to mess with what works for me already. I'm also thinking of getting a new set of wedges, and going 46, 52, 56, 60. Haven't really decided yet. But as others have said, I rarely need more options off the tee than my driver and hybrid, and if I've misshit my driver poorly enough to need a long club from the fairway (or need to go another couple hundred yards on a par 5/dog leg) I just reach for the hybrid. I was hitting maybe 1-2 good shots out of 5 with my 3W and 5W, and 4.5 good shots out of 5 with my hybrid, so I finally took the woods out of my bag.
