  1. This watch looks great - it is expensive though - the thing is I know that other companies are going to come out with a bunch of these watches over the next year probably. So if I am patient better versions will probably be on the way. For example, I've read reviews that say the battery life on this is only enough to get through one round of 18 holes - so battery life may be an issue. I know I waited on buying a gps device when they were the rage and instead got golfshot for my smartphone which i love and was way cheaper.
  2. thats horrible - good thing your kid is fine though. you gotta hold them high and tight to the rib cage - thats how you prevent fumbles.
  3. There is this perception though, advanced by certain media people and news outlets - that Obama is out to give handouts to poor people. I think that was the point of the original poster who linked that clip of regular folk on the radio in Detroit thinking they are getting govt money. The fact though is that if you look at Obama's policies and what he has done so far - he hasn't given a hand out to poor people or those who dont work - he gave billions to bankers, the auto companies and is about to give more money to the insurance companies. Yet when I see people making these posts about people who dont work getting handouts from the govt - they are either misinformed or have some other issues that are preventing them from seeing what Obama has been doing lately clearly. The bottom line is that both republicans and democrats are in the pocket of whatever big business lobby opens their wallets - if you look at the people who basically put Bush in power - religious social conservatives, evangelicals etc. - did Bush give them what they want? Is there a gay marriage ban amendment in the constitution? is prayer allowed in schools? is abortion illegal? the answer to each is no - Bush didn't spend time worrying about those things his "base" wanted - he spent his time shifting government money to corporations his friends controlled. I think Obama is pretty much going to do the same thing - he said a lot of things progressives and liberals want to hear - but he hasn't come through on any of the important things hes promised thus far. I think its funny when people get worked up about Obama when hes so middle of the road.
  4. You keep talking about these handouts that Obama is giving out - what exactly are you talking about? - can you be specific and name a few or are you more comfortable reciting retread right wing talking points?
  5. I bit on the first one but I'm not biting again - I use this site for golf not having this back and forth discussions where we each push our point and there is no chance of anyone changing anyone elses mind. I stopped having these type of meaningless convos back in college when I saw it gets both sides nowhere I will say that it seems that a lot of conservatives yearn with nostalgia for the good old days back in 50's, when it was all so simple then, and this country couldn't be better. Without going into it I will say that the 50s were great for some people and not so great for others. America has changed since then, its not going to be back to the way it was - and I think the righty crowd has to get used to that fact and get over it. Or you can cry about it every night like Glenn Beck.
  6. I personally think politics and golf shouldn't mix - as a liberal one thing I knew picking up this game last year was that most golfers are conservative republicans. The good thing I've found though out on the course is that people usually do not want to talk politics and are just looking to play a relaxing round, which is a good thing. As to your point though - the previous administration deficit giving away handouts throughout his 8 years - it just so happens that his hand outs were in the form of tax cuts to millionaires, govt contracts to companies like blackwater and haliburton, the prescription drug benefit which was a bonanza to drug companies, etc. My last point, is that Obama is a corporatist - his bailouts went to wall street and large companies, the insurance reform coming up is looking like its going to net a bundle for insurance companies - if you actually look at his policies - this dude is not a liberal or a progressive - hes a moderate at best.
  7. I second the clicgear 2.0 recommendation - its not cheap (200 bucks) but its worth every penny. I have the three wheel one - dont know how much better the four wheel is but as far as stability it never comes close to falling over so i dont think a fourth wheel is really necessary. I had a cheap pull cart that drove me crazy since the bag would slip out and the cart would fall over on inclines - didn't have to worry about any of that once i got the clicgear. It also folds up very small considering how big it is while open.
  8. The thing with knockoffs though is that a lot of time they are made in the same factory as the authentic stuff - I mean there is no way to confirm that obviously but when a US company goes out there they dont hire a construction company and build a factory themselves. All these factories are already there and a they contract with american companies to build their stuff - so ill bet wherever nike gets its stuff made probably also makes stuff for mizuno, callaway and other golf companies. Apparel and other goods work the same way. A lot of bootlegging is the owner of those factories making more product than they were contracted to make and then selling that on the black market - whatever they sell if for is all profit. I'm still to paranoid to buy them though on the chance that they are hittable pieces of garbage.
  9. I highly recommend freecaddie - you can download free off the net. The free version gives you distances to the front middle and back of the green. For like 30 bucks a year you get distances to sand traps, hazards, doglegs etc. The best part of it though is that if you play at a course is not mapped you can go onto google earth and map it yourself.
  10. PS3 hands down - you got the blu ray HD drive which is a plus and gaming hardware wise the playstation is stronger than the xbox or the wii. If you only want the motion controllers for golf and bowling and games like that then the wii is your system. If you want a versatile system the ps3 is the one to go for.
