  1. I have hit them both and liked the clevelands far better. Feel, distance, just overall Clevelands feel seemed better, mishits went farther, and on a solid hit got good distance and felt like butta. I actually tested the pings against the CG7s and still liked the CG7s better. I like the CG16s better than the CG7s. Club feel and selection is somewhat personnel....alot of people will go pings for reputation...but the cleveland irons just felt all around better to me. With that said, i went the Ping G15 driver and i hit that against everything i could demo...great feeling driver and hits well...to me, by far one of the best drivers out there.
  2. The G15 hit well. Start of my game yesterday and the club hit very well...even on miss hits. I pulled my back a little latter in the game and the club still seemed to hit the greens despite me pulling out of my swing a little. The first 9 holes the club hit straight and long and my score reflected that. So far i have to say I really like the driver. I got the TPS 149 shaft and through the first 10 holes when I stayed in my swing it hit very straight. Again, i only hit the other clubs against the machine, but i have no regrets on getting that G15 so far...club has a good feel throughout the swing which I noticed on the course as well.
  3. The area i live in has two true gold shops and couple Sports Authorities and none of them have a demo program were you take them outside the store. The Sports Authority has a hitting net set-up and the true golf stores have a machine. I went out and hit 18 yesterday and the club hit great. I pulled my back a little in some rough around hole 11 and after that I was pulling out of my swing a little; however, when i stayed down the ball flew with a better projectory then when i hit my TM Burner. I am pretty satisfied with the club and the guys I usually golf with said I seem to hit the club better despite my little swing hiccup. I appreciate your input and thought pertaining to that machine. I thought they were putting a lot of emphasis into a machine which was judging my swing by hitting 8 feet into the net. So far I have to agree with you Chris...I really like the G15 so far as well.
  4. On the machine i tried it against a G10, Cleveland, new TM, Cally, Mizuno and Cobra. The Cally and G10 come in a close second...actually the G10 did more so. Machine was telling me that I had about 3-400 less spin on the G15 then the G10 and getting about 10-15 yards more distance...which he related to the less spin. My spin rate was the lowest with the two Pings the machine reported. I launch the 07 TM high and so was hitting a 9 degree loft at first with the G15. The G10 was a 10.5 and out hitting the 9 degree lofted G15 on average of about 10 yards. I was hitting a little straighter with the G15 but not by any significant amount. Salesman went and pulled a 10.5 degree G15 and it was over...i hit that club farther than any of them. I loved the feel and how the club went through my swing on both the G10 and G15. Though i hit the 07 TM well, I did not like the feel of the club with my particular swing. What was funny was when i picked up the G15 i thought it was the best fit and feel for my swing by far...club swings great...then I hit the G10 and thought the same thing and went back and forth 4-5 times...salesman had to be getting frustrated. My slush fund is pretty high so the extra $120 wasn't an issue for me. I went with the G15 over the G10 mostly due to the machines reported results and possibly a little better feel. I do not know how accurate these machines are...would like to here someones comments on them. But according to the machine my spin rate with the G15 was in the low 3000 (actually averaged about 3000) and the G10 was in the mid to low 3000s. The other clubs were a bit higher with the Mizuno and Cleveland being the closest in spin rate...actually they were right around the G10. I seemed to consistently hit both the Pings straighter along with the Cobra. I was not using the Serrano lower spin shafts either as the salesman said by the looks of what was registering on the machine i did not need them...both were in stock and i took his advice and went with the 149. Both drivers felt great to me and I cant see anyone going wrong with either...actually some of the other drivers were pretty good as well...I just liked the Pings and according to the machine the Pings liked me flying straighter, spinning less and going farther. Anyway, like i mentioned above going to hit 18 today and will provide more feedback. Let us know what you get.
  5. I just purchased the G15. According to the machine it was the best performing driver i tried. Testing on course tomorrow. It feels better, or fits my swing better, then the 07 Burner i was using. I liked swinging it in the shop. Will provide more feedback tomorrow once we get of the course.
  6. Hey All I really learned my swing on my 07 Burner; however, I never felt comfortable with the club. Just the feel of it and I had trouble determining specifically where the club was in my swing. Went to the golf store today to try out a few drivers and the two I really liked were the G10 and G15. If you go by the machines they use, not sure how accurate they are, I had less spin and more distance with these two clubs as well. Tried the new TM and R9 along with Calloway, Cleveland, and Cobra. I liked the feel of both Ping Drivers and the machine kept showing that my spin was lower, projectory was good, flight was typically straight with a slight draw when not, and distance was anywhere from 10-20 yards farther with the pings then the next club...not major I know. The machine also showed that I was hitting The G15 straighter and with less spin than with the G10 so I went with the G15. Now can someone tell me if the following if the numbers truly as meaningful as the salesman was telling me. My hits with the G15 showed the following spin rate was on average between 3000-3200 Launch Angle was around 15 Hits were straight with slight draw when not and machine showed an average of 280 yards. Hits with G10 showed on the machine the following. Spin rate average between 3400-3600 Launch angle was around 14-15 Hits were straight with some slight draws and fades...he said these were within 5 yards...doesnt seem like much of a draw or fade. Machine showed average yardage of 270 Other clubs all had spin rates of 4000 or more with launch angles ranging from 14-18 degrees with distances from 240-265. Now i was told this was pretty good spin rates and the lower spin rates were probably the reason for my increased distances here. These numbers look right to you or are these machines pretty much a sales gimmick. Regardless I like the Drivers...both hit very well and I really like the new G15. This is just for personally knowledge and curious as to what is a good spin rate and launch angle for low to mid handicapper...i am mid working on low . Any feedback would be appreciated here...hope you hit well on the greens this week.
  7. The promotion was you buy a set of Cleveland golf clubs during a set period last year...believe it was Oct-Dec (cant actually remember the dates)... and you can trade them in for a new set of the latest Clevelands clubs within the next two years...this includes there latest models. I thought this was a pretty sweet deal. No, I am not thinking about getting a different set other than my Clevelands; however, you like putting certain speculations to rest. For instance in this case, did i sell myself short by not trying the Pings like I had the TM, Calloways, Mizunos, Cobras, etc.. The hitting of the Ping hybrids and driver really brought this to question for me as those clubs, I thought, really hit well. Then again, if I had preferred the Pings, who is to say I would have used the promotion, turned in my Clevelands for the new set, then sell them and buy the Pings. This is mute now as mentioned in my first post, as i actually like the feel of the Clevelands better. I was just surprised by my findings yesterday and wanted to share the experience. Guess it comes down to individual preference and the fact most sets are actually pretty good and you getting used to a particular club likely has a lot to do with which club you view as the better. Both clubs did hit pretty darn good though...then again my swing has seen some significant improvement and right now I just love hitting the golf ball
  8. When i bought my clubs last year towards the end of the season I basically took my time and hit every club before settling on the Clevelands. It was close between them and the Mizuno's, both felt good, if anything Clevelands had a tad more distance, nothing really noticeable, but it was the promotions Cleveland had going and the deal the store gave me that had me settle on the Clevelands. Shortly after that I hit the Ping G10 Hybrids and loved them...driver hit very sweet as well. The pings were one club I did not try and I started regretting not hitting them after hitting the hybrids and driver...could not find anything but old beatup G10 hybrids or I would have owned them. Yesterday was at a golf course getting ready to hit a bucket of balls checking out a set of Ping G15s when the club manager asked me if i wanted to hit them. I said sure and off i went with my bucket of balls and the G15 ping irons. They are nice hitting clubs with decent feel and good distance. I hit them as far as the Clevelands; however, what surprised me was that the Clevelands, to me, had a far better feel to them. When i make good contact on the Clevelands it just felt so buttery smooth and did not get quite the same feel from the Pings. I remember getting something similar to the Clevelands from the Mizuno 200. I do not know if now I am just used to the feel of the Clevelands and therefore more comfortable, or if my expections of the Pings were just to high, but I actually like how the Clevelands hit more so than the Pings. I cant wait now to see the next set of clubs from Cleveland as those will probably be the ones I get my free trade in for. You have to have loved that promotion from Cleveland.
  9. It was also explained to me that when you get older your swing slows and you do not hit your long irons as far as when you were more limber, flexible, and younger. The aging and slower swing process does not affect your shorter irons as much. In these cases the hybrids play out pretty much the same as how you used to hit your longer irons. Therefore, in this scenario it is almost a straight replacement for your 3 and 4 iron.
  10. Hey all Decided to commit to a hybrid to replace the 4 iron. Hit a few and kinda torn between the Cobra baffler TWS and Calloway Big Bertha Diablo (both last years models). Anyone provide any information or comment on their experiences with these clubs. Was looking for a Ping G10 but could not find. I wasnt as comfortable with the Taylormade, adam, mizuno, and the new pings. Any input would be appreciated.
  11. I have a set of CG7s, launcher 3 and 5 fairway woods, and a 50, 54,and 58 cg14 wedge. When i made my purchase i hit the woods and irons with several others and Clevelands felt just as good and performed just as well. There current promotion kinda sealed the deal. Very glad i did. More comfortable with the irons and hitting them well...feel great. I can hit my fairway woods farther than previous clubs...5 for about 240-250 and 5 about 220-235...just got their hybrid to fill my 205-220 gap. Wedges are fantastic as well, have gotten used to them and constantly hitting the greens now from 110 in. I made my purchasing decision because they seemed like the best value for the range of club sets i was looking at...good reviews and great prices at the local golf shop...plus a bought the woods first and loved them right off and figured I would get the same quality and performance out of irons and wedges. I am glad i went with the Clevelands and would purchase them now even if price strategy changed and they were a little more than the other sets i was looking at...oh yea...i get a new set next year or the year after too. I hit the Mizuno's 23, TM burners, callaways 22, cobras, and adams. Only one i didnt hit and wanted to were the pings...really wanted there G10 hybrid. Clevelands felt as good as the Mizunos and was right there in distance with all except the Burners that seem to hit consistently farther do to the loft degrees. Problem is, for some reason i could not get a consistent hit out of the TM 09 burners. To sum it up...Cleveland are great clubs (woods, hybrids, irons, and wedges) at typically great prices. I have not used there driver as my first new club was a TM burner driver...but friend has there new driver, not the launcher, and loves it as well. Fact is, he went out and got the launcher fairway woods once he hit mine and is looking at getting a set of the CG7 tours. Hope this helps and if you are looking at new clubs definitely consider the Clevelands.
  12. Hi All First year I have really gotten into golf and got hit pretty hard by the bug. Have a implemented almost a complete new swing midway through the year and it is finally coming together. I went out this last time by myself and was hitting the ball straight and sweet, so sweet i could hardly tell i made contact with the ball (cleveland CG7 irons). Now i have never golfed this late into the year before and this last time out was the first time i golfed with the temperature in the mid-50s. My problem, the ball distance on each of my clubs was 10-15 yards shorter respectively. My approach wedge (50 degree) i usually hit 100 was going about 85...my 6 iron about 160 (170-175 usually). Would the weather have this much impact. Another possibility I am thinking, is that as I was golfing alone, without my friends, I may not have been swinging as hard, hence could be why such a drastic improvement in how straight the shots were going. However, I do not believe i was swinging any less harder and really did not think about this until after i was done...so did not test it. Now, when the temperature was in the 80-90s I was driving 280-290 yards on the same course. I did notice a drop to about 265-275 when the temperature dropped in the 60s. This has occurred with one of my friends as well who was driving right along with me. So based on this info I wrote it off as tempature. Wednesday, when i was by myself, i was hitting probably 240-250 on my drives. Bad thing is i hit the fairway 6 out the 7 holes i drove on...the one i missed i was trying to cut a dog leg and it went were I aimed...just to short to cut it...i have made that cut in the past. I live on the bench next to the mountains (4500-4700 ft) and would say the golf courses are close to that elevation. Use Bridgestone E6+ which i changed to about a month ago from a Pinnicle gold. So give me your best guesstimate. You think the cold air could impact distance to this extent, or you think i might have lightened up on the swing, or combination. Also, what do most of you hit your 6 irons and pitching wedges. Appreciate any info i can get. Did a search, and like the search expecting varying opinions, but still would like to hear them...thanks.
  13. my sandwedge is 54...i hit it about 80 pretty consistently with nice loft and it stopping pretty much where it lands...one two small bounces max...shorter say 60 yards i use my 58 wedge and around 100 i used my approach wedge...pitch wedge around 110-120. Now that i am getting the distances they are becoming pretty automatic...inside 60 i take a less swing with my 58 pending how far out i am and up to lob/close chip shots....my wedges are cleveland CG14s...really starting to like them
  14. I demo'd a couple different brands, and though the feel of the mizuno's was great, i did not notice that they hit the ball farther than any other club. Taylormades had the best distances, more than likely loft, but titleist, cleveland and callaways seemed to fly as far if not farther than Mizunos.
  15. Thanks for input on hybrid. On the Mizuno's, to be honest, they felt good, but distance was no further than any other club i tested, mishits felt alright, in line with Clevelands, and didn't seem to fly as far on the mishits as some of the other clubs. They were $100-200 more than the other clubs I tested, and without any promotions. The looks were good...some of the best looking clubs i looked at, but looks was very low on my priorities. I understand they are forged and everyone liked the feel of the forged irons. However, the Clevelands felt just as good, maintained relatively good distance on mishits, ball went as far or further, were 200 dollars less (wedge money), and i get a new pair in the next two years for free. Really wasn't a hard decision once I hit them and did the math. So far I am pretty happy with my purchase, however, just changed a couple things in my iron swing that is killing me...cant wait until i get comfortable with the changes. Again, thanks for feedback and hope u enjoy your 300s...nice clubs as well.
