  1. Thanks! the cranberry township is one of the places the company suggested we should live...but I would love to hear about some courses in the area. Im also wondering if anyone has experience playing at a club where a seasonal or non equity membership is available. I hope to play a lot of golf.
  2. Hello, I might be moving to the northern Pittsburgh area from western Canada so I have no clue what the golf in PA is like. When I move there I might be looking for a season pass or non equity membership somewhere. I play to about a 2 hdcp and have a pet peeve playing courses that are not well manicured. I'd rather play a well maintained 6000yd track over a "championship" layout in poor condition. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. Including listing places that I shouldnt waste my time with. Thanks!
  3. I am also 6'5" and I just got a new set of mizuno irons +3/4" longer and 2 degrees upright but its different for everyone and the only good way to figure it out is hitting clubs off a lie board. Did the fitter have you do this? And if so did you do it with a club that was 1" longer than standard? What was the process they put you through? Some people have long arms, short legs, flatter swings, etc so just because you are tall doesnt mean your need the lie changed. The extra length might just be all you need. Adding an extra inch will make an iron "play" 2 degrees upright (roughly 1 degree per half inch longer) Mizuno tends to make their irons a bit flat compared to other manufacturers. The last set of titliest irons I had I was only 1 degree upright but titleist tends to make their standard lies 1 degree more upright than mizuno. Its not hard for a club fitter to adjust your lies once you have your new clubs if you are really worried about it. If you can go back to the fitter and hit your new clubs off a lie board you can determine if they need an extra tweaking.
  4. Before you buy one off ebay, make sure you take a look at one somewhere. I was also thinking about the 18 degree but the offset was crazy. Didnt set up well to me and kept hitting hooks in the similator. A new MP FLI HI just came out this september with reduced offset due to the complaints but I havent yet seen it in the golf shops or on ebay.
  5. In your second video (face-on) your ball position for an 8 iron looks too far back to me. In my opinion it should be slightly forward of the middle of your stance. Yours looks a few inches back of center....could also just be the camera angle but maybe could explain why you get thin shots that start right.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions. Ive been scouting the driver specs of many tour players online in the past couple days and it seems as though 90% use an X flex in their shaft of choice. I'm pretty sure I swing as hard as they do and I'm kicking myself for not considering this years ago. ddalet, I am 6'5", 230lbs. Based on my frame alone its not that hard for me to generate that kind of clubhead speed...it just comes natural to me...however accuracy then becomes the issue.
  7. The trajectory is great, but the shot dispersion isnt. Tendancy for it to hook a couple times each round. When I hit the XX flex it felt like I could go at the ball without the possibility of it going left. James_Black, yes I hit it 300+.
  8. Thanks. Does anyone have experience with the UST V2 tour shafts in X-flex? Its something Ive been looking at.
  9. I am looking to put a new shaft in my driver and I'm looking for recommendations. I have a Titleist 983E 8.5* with stock stiff speeder shaft. On the launch monitor my ball speed is 185-195mph which roughly equates into 125mph clubhead speed. Launch angle and spin rate are good, I get a nice low boring trajectory which is the reason why I bought the driver in the first place. I played with a guy the other day that couldnt believe Im playing an s-flex in my driver. He suggested an XX flex and let me hit his - it felt impossible to hook left which was kinda nice. I play x100s in all of my irons and it really got me thinking. Its really very difficult for me to find a place nearby where I can actually demo a driver with an extra stiff shaft which is probably why I just went for the best fit with s-flex at the time. If you have any shaft suggestions I could look into I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
  10. I like to work the ball both ways on pretty much every approach shot. The blades allow me to do this more consistantly and with more feel and control. I also love the lower trajectory that blades produce for me..and the difference in turf interaction between a blade and a chunky thick soled cavity back...just ordered a new set of mp-68 irons..cant wait.
  11. Last round of the year today...shot 77 and probably wont pick up a club again until April. Sometimes I hate living so far north.
  12. I am a software development consultant.
