I played on Sunday and was hitting the ball great !! 15 out of 18 fairways were hit and right down the middle nearly i might add but when it came to 100yards of the flag i was useless!! i just dont understand it. Usually my short game is my strength especially from say 100 yards out but on Sunday it looked like i was a complete newby to the game. Why is this? I wouldnt say i was suffereing from a lack of confidence as i was only 1 over for the first 3 holes but after that it all went down hill because of my short game.!!! Can anyone shed any light on why my strength is suddenly my weakness? is there anything i can do? or do i just need to get back out there and correct this?

Are not all sports like this in one way or another, when you have a stand out player of course its going to pull in more ratings as people who don't know the game can only associate with that person and plus people also like to watch the best!!, people dont want to watch someone who will hit a perfect drive and split the fairway then duff the 2nd shot into the trees. Look at soccer for instance, if one of the worlds top players is playing in a match there would be no doubt that there would be more viewers than there would if only the normal players are on. I assume that this would count for baseball, basketball, american football the list is endless. I also think that although the technology is getting better for players to be better, the courses surely could be easily altered to accomodate this and cause more trouble for the players. I think a good idea would be for the projected cut to be lower or even have another cut after the 3rd day, this way it would cause more competition and drives players to play better instead of just thinking "oh well if i hit par at least i'll take $75,000 home".. what do you guys think?

In the us do you guys have names for people from different places? ie: in england if someone is from London they are called cockneys liverpool - scousers birmingham - brummies etc etc , do usa have this as well.

ok you obviously don't need a crime to be a bad role model, but what has he actually done in your humble opinion to be a bad role model ?? he will always shake the hands of his opposition, you dont see him trying to put people off hitting there shots etc etc. now a bad role model on the course is someone like rory sabbatini and the example i will use is when he played his putt on the green before ben crane had taken 2nd shot from the fairway!! now thats no gentleman golfer and someone i would consider to be a bad role model.

I dont see what the problem with sergio is ?? Sure he likes to shout at the ball and he can sure talk the ass of a donkey, but what do you ever see him do wrong? you never see pictures of him drunk or on drugs or with all sorts of undesirables? i can't see the problem with him?

I was recently playing golf with my brother who had sliced his 1st tee shot behind a tree. He still had at least 200 odd yards to go to the green and me thinking he would take the sensible approach and just pop it back on the fairway and hit a untroubled shot in, he decided to go for the green! He hit a great 5 wood from a bad lie with a touch of draw that sailed and landed no more than 3 feet from the pin, as i gave him a round of applause for the great shot I looked back and had seen he had wrapped his 5 wood around the tree and snapped it in 2!!!! what a pity, a great shot with a bad outcome!!

You need to click where it says course (on the left) and it will then say live cam. (although it isnt a streaming cam and is onoly updated every 15 mins!)

I recently played a course in my home town of Liverpool, England. Its only a public course and doesnt pretend to be anything else, you get alot of kids, gangs of partime golfers all with no ettique or who are just oblivious to golf pretence and manners and its just generally a crap course. But I am starting this thread as it seems such a shame because the greens that are on this course are the best greens i have seen anywhere, they are just immacluate and could easily be seen on any championship courses anywhere in the world, it just a terrible waste on such a bad course!!! Anyone else had an experience like this.

I always had a spot for Phil Mickelson until i read the 10 most hated Sports Professionals and no one had a good heard to say about him and it really put me off!! But, Seve Ballersteros is a great character as well as Sergio Garcia, they both play with passion and excitement and often wear there heart on their sleeves!! Also as Jarno said Retief just quietly, professionaly and brilliantly just gets on with what he does and does it well.

yeah i take your point there, it will be a case of what you grew up with you will be accustomed to. You also say it doesnt make that much sense ? whats to not understand about it ? all they have to do is kick the ball in the opposing teams net!! it must be the simplest game in the world !!! lol Are all large organisations not corrupt in some form or another??

oh my god !! how bad are those scores for that guy!!! i hope that someone paid for him to enter cos that is just a huge waste of money!!! How could he possibly think he would get on the tour with play like that! i mean everyone is entitled to have a go but you must know if you have half a chance at least of ranking anywhere!! oh dear!

American football is far to stop start, there doesnt appear to be any flow to the game at all as sson as it gets going they start all over again..

can i ask when you say you got teamed up with 2 bad players in a row, in the usa do you get teamed up with people on the course even if you dont know them? or was this a comp etc etc? or is this what happens in the us to keep the games flowing?

I think you have done great just to play your own game and not saying anything at all. Its always horrible to paly with someone shouting and screaming at everything and then telling you what to do.. as for the person who dropped a ball as if no one seen it, well all i can say is the old cliche "he is only cheating himself" play your own game mate, keep the etiquette up and dont lower your self to thier standards. well done!

bold statmenet my friend, but us europeans feel exactly the same way regarding american football and baseball !! i cant think of another sport worse to watch than baseball !! even snooker is more exciting and at least american football is entertaining for about 5 mins but baseball, jees who on earth thought of that!! what an absolutly crap sport !!! pathetic!

Whats the soccer scene in the U.S. like these days is it growing? Will it get any bigger? Considering its the world's most popular sport why has it never really taken off in the usa? any thoughts guys?
