I may be late to this conversation on rules and reasonings, but I would/do understand why such rules should be implemented. It's not to make golf any easier or harder, but to keep manufacturers reasonable. I'm sure there are a lot of guys(and gals) out there who can play an 80 degree wedge, but they are probably delofting the club a lot to make it hittable. Back to the rules, if you don;t put a stop in somewhere it will just keep going to an extreme no matter what it is. Consider where drivers were going; imaginge 600, 700+ cc drivers. Thats what such rules are trying to curb.
