  1. Do the ECG and Southboro ranges open after snowfalls or do they wait until its mostly melted,(ie. call a few days after snow to see if they are open etc)
  2. I'll be going a week later to the bc/bu game at fenway. I'm quite skeptical that its going to be good but who knows.
  3. My only question with the foam balls is this, do they provide any sort of feel for distance or are they mainly for focusing on ball striking? The putting tutor looks good, how does that compare to the rail? I was looking to get something of that sort for my putting but the tutor seems like it would achieve the same goal with some good feedback(the more annoying when i do something wrong the better!).
  4. if your coming from downtown hotels i would not take anything but highway. Going west of I-95 can be a bad area near downtown. Take the dolphin (836) there and back, you might have to pay a toll but nothing to steep.
  5. For the winter I've decided to actually practice my game. I don't have much space so i set up a little area with an ottoman backstop, a putter about a foot in front and a old cell phone box in the middle. i try to chip the ball into the box rougly 8' away with a 60-56-42-pw-9-8, always attempting to land the ball within the putter and the ottoman, preferably in the box (1'x6" most likely). Is this going to help my game. I try to put in at least 30-45 mins when i get home from work then when i wake up ill hit a few balls to see if i can do it cold to track my progress/feel. Is this going to help my short game or will it only end up hurting? I cant see the roll i'm getting with the backstop but the grounds frozen, its 11 degrees outside, what else can i do. I really want to work my short game so i can score better next year. Is there anything i can add in such a limited space or do differently to help me game? Will consistently landing the ball 8' ish with different clubs help me once i can get to the course and figure out how each shot rolls on any given day/conditions. Thanks for your help/input!
  6. When i was 14 my parents covered mostly all my expenses for golf, which wasnt much. An old set of titleist pro100's and some balls my dad found in the woods weren't that expensive I reckon. But now being 24 its getting quite costly; 3000$ for a country club membership and 50-100$ a lesson, ouch. Growing up sucks :P If you can save $ on balls and have a good set of clubs your happy with then your just looking at greens fee's. If you play at a country club like you said there should be plenty of prov1's etc in the woods that you can easily snag if your a walker.
  7. beware the traffic like fatphil sugussted if your heading out to doral for after 1pm depending on loc, the traffic normally starts to build up around 2-3 and lasts seemingly forever.
  8. if your not worried about spending $$ try doral, its a short drive from downtown miami / miami beach via highway. Miami beach golf club is another one that's easy to find bit pricey like doral.

  10. The dennis highlands should be open, if its not the pines will be. not sure about right at this very moment with the cold but they always have at least one course open in dennis through the winter. You could try butternut farm or stow acres, I don't know if they are still open since the snow but I had seen folks playing butternut before this cold snap ran through about a week or so ago.
  11. 1. Take lessons twice a month 2. Have a handicap below 10 3. Shoot par 4. Join my local cc 5. and of course a hole in one
  12. I've played a set of no name xpc3 mid sized irons for a good 8 years now. They served me well and I will be upgrading next season, but if I didn't intend to spend copious amounts of time at the course next year I would still have them in my bag. If your just starting out I'd focus on taking some lessons and just having fun.
