  1. If this post is about is about fireing from top hard then I know exactly what he means. I have an "explosive", for lack of a better term, move from the top. Probably becuase I have fairly quick hands and playing ball for many years in my youth when I used to wait on pitches to see what they were doing before swinging the bat and then fireing. More than once I've been told to slow my swing down but when I try it ends up feeling like a push-pull swing if that makes any sense. It's like I have to purposely hold my body back which for for me is not a natural feeling.
  2. I do know that when I used the FT's I wasn't comfortable at all, whether it was the look or the feel I don't know. The X-20s "felt" much better. What I didn't like was being pin high and twenty yards right from 160. After a lot of reading on this sight and others I've learned the value of the right shafts. I don't have the advantage of a golf store to try different clubs and when I took my first lesson my pro said I needed stiff shafts. The X-20 tours are quite forgiving in their own right, almost as forgiving the regular X-20s, but no offset and stiff shafts. I'm pretty stong and quick, due to years of swinging a hammer no doubt, and I "feel" that the DG S300s are a much better fit than the uniflex shafts. I know one round of golf isn't going to prove that they are a btter fit, but I founfd it quite nice to see the ball go go in the direction I thought it should not wide left. That being said, after a few trades my X-20 tours cost me $69.99 delivered to my door, much cheaper than having my X-20s reshafted. Now if I can just find the right shaft for my I-mix driver.
  3. Thanks, almost time to play
  4. After lurking in many golf Forums for quite a while I decided to join this one. I live on Martha's Vineyard and started golf about three years ago. I'm 56 yo shoot anywhere form 100 to 112. I have shot 94 but like I told my son it was the first time I didn't lose a ball. When my golfer friends took up golf at a young age I was fishing or playing some other sport. I was a good athlete back then but now when we play golf I'm the rookie . Unfortunately I'm now addicted to golf and love it. I don't take myself too serious and I get a better laugh at myself at some of my shots than anyone else, love it. I hit the ball pretty long and have just started to try different clubs and shafts, which I've found do make a difference. Well off to the forums.
  5. Interesting question. I would say that I have a 100 mph driver speed on average. We don't have any places to be tested on the island so I bought a swing speed radar. What I would like to know is how one time last summer when I was playing around I got a reading of 127MPH which I've never been able to reproduce. 117 once, but mostly 110-112 highest now. I was hitting into a net so I would hate to see where the ball would have gone, if I could find it.
  6. Just trying to fill up my posts so I can start one. As a 56 yo with multiple physical issues due to my years of carpentry, I tend to set up square with feet and hips but open with my shoulders. When I bring my shoulders back to square it causes tension in my lower back, due to three bad disks. What I want to know is why when my drives start to push or fade and I set up aiming left to compensate the darn ball goes straight . I guess for me to use what I have I have to wait until after the shot and decide I should have done this or that.
  7. Hi guys,I'm new on here and I'm a typiclal new golfer, three years 24 HC. I started with Callaway big berthas that went way too high, tried the callaway fusions that I didn't like, then went to x-20s. After using those irons for a couple of years I decided to try the x-20 tours. My usual shot with the fusions and x-20 from 180 in was a dead pull or hook. I figured I'd try the x-20 tours with DG S300s because of the low offset and unilex shafts in the others. I've only played once so far due to the weather but the difference in direction was immediate. I found them much easier to hit, actually hitting the ball first and taking a divot, but what impressed me the most was the ball went where my setup and swing said it should. So for this 24 HC the "tour" model seems to be the better answer. Thank God for Callaway preowned.
