  1. thanks for the input guys. the swing weights are also very close from set to set. the shafts on the hogans are a little flexier, and the heads are a little smaller. my friend's thinking is that small variations that i may not even notice (or completely in my head) could be causing me to swing differently... preventing me from really working on my consistency.
  2. i've recently become sort of a forged blade iron collector, and as a result, have a few sets that i like to play. they are all geometrically identical, and all have the same grips, but they have different shafts, and obviously different heads. i play just about the same regardless of the set, but a friend suggested that playing the differing irons all the time may be holding me back. thoughts?
  3. i've been surprised with how little info i can find on this. i just bought a set of '88 hogan apex redlines (with pins) which i'm reshafting. i'd really like to use something that looks like the original pin, just for aesthetics. there's got to be something out there. i've been pouring through mcmaster, but can't seem to find anything.
  4. bump - has anyone reshafted a junior putter? was it a junior specific shaft? is there a standard junior shaft tip diameter? i know it probably sounds stupid, but i really want to putt with this thing again!
  5. i'm trying to put a new longer shaft in a cool old hogan putter so i can use it with my second set. it's a hogan radial jr . putter i bought in like ~1995 with one of my first sets. it uses a thin shaft that i can't seem to find any info on. does anyone know if i can get a new shaft to fit this thing?
  6. i agree. the tour velvet cords are easily my favorites, and they can be found for cheap on ebay. just install them yourself - it's a quick and easy DIY. about 5 minutes per club, and $10 of supplies will be enough for you to regrip your set a few times. i put the new BCT cords on my irons a couple months ago for around $60 (10 clubs).
  7. this probably isn't the type of answer you were looking for, but i'm a big weight weenie, and will normally carry anywhere from 1 to 8 clubs when walking, which is about 90% of my rounds. (no bag at all if playing only one club, of course). i pretty much only use the full set when i'm on a cart. that said, i still haven't found a bag other than the hoofer that i really like. i've had a few of them through the years, and the small weight penalty is totally worth it in ease of use and durability if you ask me! i focus more on keeping a minimum amount of stuff in the bag. only the clubs i need for the particular course plus like 4 balls, 2 gloves, and a couple tees. i'm much happier to leave a club at home than carry a bag i don't like, or that i'll be fiddling with all round.
  8. sorry - i meant if titleist was still selling them direct - would i likely be able to order custom, or would they just be selling leftover standard wedges with the dynamic gold wedge... not crazy about that shaft, and it's way more expensive to buy a new one and change the shaft than it is to just order a custom club. edit: based on hokie2k5, it sounds like this is unfortunately a moot point. i guess i'll have to find one and change the shaft.
  9. thanks. i'll have to see about ordering direct from titleist. i can't seem to find one at any of the local golf shops, and picking my shaft would be a plus. if they sell them at all, is it safe to assume they'll still customize, or are they likely to only be selling remaining "off-the-shelf" wedges with stock shafts?
  10. i give endowment management advice to non-profits. not crazy about it, but it gives me the flexibility to play 9 pretty much any evening. not bad i suppose.
  11. slightly off-topic (sorry), but i dont have enough posts to start a thread, so i'll resurrect this one: has vokey shown any indication of bringing back non-spin-milled wedges? i'm thinking about replacing my 690MB PW with a 48* vokey with a nice shaft, but i'm worried that the spin-milled face will also exaggerate my lateral spin and make spray the ball on full-swing shots. the ~125 yd wedge is a shot i can't afford to lose, and i already put a ton of backspin on that shot. can anyone comment on hitting longer shots with a spin-milled wedge?
