  1. Ah, that was something I didn't think about. It makes since though since I moved my ball closer to my body. I played a round with a tour pro and at the time he said I had the ball too far away from my body and that was causing me to lose my balance. Maybe I adjusted the ball position too close to my body causing me to hit off the hosel? I am going to the range tomorrow so having an idea of what causes the problem will definitely help in working to resolve it. Thanks for the help. I need it..haha
  2. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  3. Ok, so I was going to the range today to work on my driving technique, but decided to warm up with my irons first since I usually hit them well. That is until today. For some reason on about half of my shots I would hit a low, off target (right), slice and could not figure out how to fix it. When I line up the club face is square, but after this happens and I put the club back down in front of me the face of the club has shifted and is pointing left. I am assuming this is causing the hard slice? What typically causes this type of shot? Could it be my grip is too loose and the club is shifting? It was just odd because my shots were either decent or a hard, low, off target slice. The funny thing is I went there for my driver and when I started swinging it I was dead straight and consistent.....go figure! JW
  4. Thanks for the input. I will work on shortening my backswing and slowing down my transition and see if that helps.
  5. I have before and I was a little off, so I probably need to do that again to see how far off I am now. I try and align my shoulders with the target and usually forget about my feet. Thanks Rexx
  6. Great input guys. One question though, is there any drills I can do to give myself a way to feel what the swing should be so that I know when I am using too much of my arms and hands?
  7. Could it be on my drive that I am shifting too much forward? Would that cause me to hit the ball before my club face is square?
  8. Ok, here is a couple of videos with me swinging the driver. The first video shows three hits with the balls going all over the place (first is slice, second is hook and third is low & to the left). The second video is a slow motion version of the first hit (slice). Help me out guys if you can. Note: Ball is on the inside of my left heel for each shot.
  9. uh oh..haha. Okay, so should I not try and keep my head down? Or should I just keep doing what is comfortable as long as I am getting good hits?
  10. I will work on my practice swing and keeping my head down. Thanks Golf Guru
  11. haha..thanks for the laugh before I go to bed.
  12. Here is a slow-motion video of my swing in case that will help any. Looking at the swing, is there something that is causing me to have the club pointing down my back instead of more horizontal to the ground?
  13. Right now I get pretty good distances and my accuracy isn't too far off. I would say my biggest problem with my irons is judging distances close to the green, which I am working on now. The main reason I posted this video is to see if my swing has any major flaws. I understand that as long as I am hitting it good then don't worry about it, but since I am fairly new to the game I thought if anything major was wrong then now would be a good time to try and correct it. I plan on making a video with my driver soon and I will post it. Thanks guys for the help.
  14. Yeah, I am hitting the ball pretty good, I just want to make sure my mechanics don't have any major flaws. Thanks again. I would love some more input though.
  15. 1. Yeah, I have a bad habit of just using the practice swing to loosen up, but I don't do the same swing when I hit the ball. 2. I would say my shoulder is probable pointing at the ball, not behind it. How far behind the ball should my left shoulder be pointing? 3. Is this a good thing? haha 4. I don't change my grip or have any fixes. Sorry for my ignorance but I am not real sure what you mean by "crossing over." Also, my ball flight with my irons is usually straight. I rarely have any fade or draw in my ball flight (except with driver, which is a different issue..ha). 5. Honestly this is the first time I have taken a video of myself, so I was unaware my club was pointing down my back. Is there a way to correct this? Thanks for the analysis.
  16. Here is a video of my swing using a 4 Iron. The ball seemed to hit good and straight but I want you guys to tell me if you see anything wrong (which I am sure there is something wrong ). Thanks
  17. Any good swing analysis apps Blackberry?
  18. Well staying relaxed payed off I think. I was able to play 9 holes today and I shot a 46, including a par and a birdie. Not great but that has been my best game so far this year. Thanks guys.
  19. Sounds good guys. I will give it a shot today and see how it goes. Either way being on the course is better than being at work.
  20. Great tips guys, I really appreciate it. I am playing today so I will just focus on a smooth easy swing (which usually goes farther then ones where I am tense)
  21. So when I play at the course I should probably just relax and focus on getting the mechanics right at the range?
  22. When I am constantly running through all of the motions in my head when swinging I tend to tense up to make sure I do everything right. However, I try and think about too much and end up topping the ball or turning my shoulders and hitting the ball left. On the other hand when I take a nice smooth practice swing and then step up to the ball and just relax I tend to hit the ball straighter and more accurately. My question: Is it more important to stay relaxed during the swing or to constantly think about the mechanics (which causes me to tense up)?
  23. Ok, I will try and get a video of my swing and post it. Thanks guys
  24. A lot of the times I am very inconsistent with my iron/driver/wood shots. Some will slice, some will draw and some will be straight but not where I was aiming. Will my control be better if I try and slow down my back swing? Then once I am more consistent speed it back up? Thanks in advance for any help.
