Congrats! Here is my first birdie experience.
Yesterday (21 June) I got my first birdie, it was on a short par 4 (231 yards) with water between the tee box and the green at the Country Club of Miami. I skipped this hole the first three times I played because I knew my drive would go into the water. My tee shot (245 yards) landed on the back side of the green in the rough. I used a 7 iron to do a bump and run that someone showed me a few years back which landed about 2 ½ feet from the cup. The green was on a right to left slant with a decent amount of break. I aimed to the right of the cup and gave it a nice tap and heard the beautiful sound of it dropping into the cup. Luckily my daughter was there with me. She said “Dad that was 3 hits, that’s a birdie, right?”
I hope this is my first of many. I get to play about twice a week so hopefully I get better quickly. I still haven't calculated my handycap but assume it is horrible but practice makes perfect.
