  2. Golf and tennis are very different sports from football and basketball. Individual vs. team for achievements. Imagine if Tiger never won a major because his team stunk (think Buffalo Bills). And the comment about having 125 player cards --in tennis, you don't win, you don't play--period. There are many tennis players out there that play 3-4 matches just to get into a major tournament.
  3. ROTFL Imagine it on a Sunday!
  4. I couldn't tell from your note if your friend was having a good time or not. Maybe he's not as excited about playing as you may think. As for following the rules, if you're not betting, enjoy the companionship, and drop the advice unless he asks. I do agree he needs to pick up his pace somehow. Sounds like he spends a lot of time with practice swings, etc.? Assuming you can only devote X hrs. per week to golf, mention to him you've been invited to play with the other guys, you think it can help your game which is one of your goals, and would that work for him? That should start the conversation so each of you can decide what you want out of the golf games you play.
  5. It reminded me of golfing in western Washington, what with Clarke changing out his rain pants three times! And it was annoying to adjust the color intensity each time Ricky Fowler was hitting.
  6. Nice to hear he was trying to help. I thought Phil was a class act on the 18th.
  7. If salt marks and that "unusual" smell follow you with your hat, I've found that washing them in the dishwasher works great. At Amazon.com key in "hat dishwasher" and see the plastic frames that keep your hat shaped as needed. My wife discovered this years ago when our daughter was playing competitive tennis in the South as a teenager.
  8. I played Harbour Pointe last week, and didn't notice the pebbles. That being said the commenters are right this has been the wettest winter in at least the last 10 years! It was a real challenge to find courses that didn't try to suck off your shoes in the fairway. Chalk it up as an "abnormal condition" and take relief next time. It's not normal. To beat the sloppy conditions, I recommend The Home Course in Dupont, and Mt. Si in North Bend. Chambers Bay in University Place drains well, too, but it will drain your wallet quickly unless you live in Pierce County.
