  1. Thanks a lot for the help guys, I am going to head to the range either today or tomorrow and use these suggestions and see what progress I can make. I have never really paid to much attention to my swing plane since I was first starting out so that very well may be the problem. I am also almost certain that I don't maintain the pressure between my left armpit and chest throughout my swing so I will be sure to work on that as well.
  2. I have always struggled driving the ball. I am just now getting to the point where i can consistently make solid contact and hit decent iron shots, but I still can't consistently drive the ball straight. My problem is that unless I consciously turn my hands over during my swing, I end up slicing the ball (Only with the driver). This conscious turning of my hands results in a pretty unpredictable flight pattern. I hit it decently part of the time, but I also sometimes slice it because I don't turn my hands over early enough, or hook it because I turn them over to much. I was wondering if it is normal to have to consciously do this, or if a good swing should result in the hands turning over naturally.
  3. So I'm headed over to Golf Galaxy today to look for a new putter. I was thinking of getting the taylormade daytona 1 ghost putter (I like the blade style putters best) and was wondering if any of you guys have it or have used it in the past and what you thought of it. The reviews seem to be generally positive. If anyone can suggest a different putter I might want to look at while I'm there, I'm open for suggestions.
  4. I have never been fitted for clubs before, and I wanted to get a set of Nike Victory Red irons for Christmas. I was wondering whether I could get these clubs fitted after Christmas even if I didnt get the clubs from the store. I wasn't sure if I needed to get them fitted right when I bought them or whether I could just walk in and get any clubs that I want fitted.
  5. So as we all know Christmas is coming up, and I am in need of some new irons. I currently have an old set of Mizuno blades that I used to originally start playing golf with (Not the easiest to learn with), and I want to move up in quality. I hit in the 90's consistently and I was looking for set that was forgiving enough, but no more than $300. I'm not sure if I can find that good of a deal but just wanted some input on what you guys thougt I should ask for for christmas.
  6. This is my second full year of golfing and I am currently lacking distance and consistency in my drives. I can only drive the ball about 200-210 yards, and when I try and hit the ball harder I end up slicing it into another fairway. Any idea about what I could do to get more distance off the tee? Any other comments are appreciated aswell.
  7. I currently have a no-name bag which is very heavy and uncomfortable to carry. I was looking into getting the Taylormade Pure-Lite stand bag, and was wondering if anyone else has this bag, and what they thought of it. I'm on a tight budget so if you guys have any other suggestions I would prefer that they be $100 or cheaper. The Golf Warehouse has this bag on sale for $99 currently.
  8. I appreciate the responses guys. I usually do tee up my irons just barely, so thanks for confirming that it is a good thing to do.
  9. I was wondering if it is normal to tee up iron shots on short holes where you would tee off with an iron. Most people who I have played with say "Well none of the pros do it!" but I figure if I can give myself a perfect lie I may as well take advantage of that opportunity any time it comes across. I was just curious about what you guys thought, and if any of you do this.
  10. Hey guys, This is my second year of golfing regularly, and I am planning on joining my high school team this fall. I was wondering how the scoring worked in a match between schools. Are you responsible for your own scorecard or for your opponents card? I know it may be different in different areas, but I was just wondering. This will be my first year of competitive golf so if you guys have any tips for me they would be greatloy appreciated. I'm still not that great, but am improving fast and hope to continue to improve my game.
  11. I am planning to join my high school golf team when the season starts in about a month, which is the reason that I was wondering if I should replace them before then. It will be the first year that I have played competitively at all. I can probably deal with them for one more year and get a nicer set though.
  12. I have been golfing for around 2 years now and am looking to replace my irons I currently have. I started out playing with Mizuno T-Zoid Pro II irons and am worried that due to them being blade irons, I am not playing to my full potential. I am still not very good and am currently taking lessons as well. I feel like I should replace these irons with a cavity back set, but I am not sure which irons to get. I am on quite a limited budget and can only afford to spend around 200 dollars. I'm not sure if I will even be able to find anything for this price, or if I should just stick it out with my current blade irons and deal with inconsistency until I can improve my swing. Thanks for any feedback.
  13. I wasn't around for Jack's prime, but I think that Tiger is the better golfer. If he can get his act together and win some more majors there certainly shouldn't be any doubt that Tiger is indeed a better golfer.
  14. I recently played on one of the easier courses in my area, and shot a 90. Not very good I know, but I have only been playing for a year and a half, so I was pretty happy with it.
  15. I played a hole that I usually have a lot of trouble with. It requires a long drive over a pond, and I hit the ball over 250 yards, easily clearing the pond and setting myself up for a nice second shot.
