Can't hit long irons at all... any tips?
No1CeltsFan replied to No1CeltsFan's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
yea the longer shaft definitly plays a factor. Where should the ball placement be? middle of my foot, towards the front foot or back foot? Thanks -
I am very comfortable with 6-PW, especially the 7/8 irons, but the 2-4 are just flat out brutal for me. I hit like 3-4 good shots out of every 10 at the most. It's extremely frustrating as you can imagine. First off, why are long irons so hard to hit compared to shorter irons. Secondly, are there any tips or sites you can recommend on reading up how to hit them better? Thanks alot

Who would/should you let teach you?
No1CeltsFan replied to No1CeltsFan's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yea you got some good points. It wasn't even 35$ + a bucket for an hour, it was just for the lesson w/no time. I mean we didnt really get in depth ya know. I said would you consider helping me, I got no problem paying. He said sure. I would assume wed go up to the range. Id buy a large bucket for myself and we'd go through each shot of the bucket. It could be 2 hours or whatever. I think Im gonna give it ago. What's the worse that can happen? I mean today w/2 adjustments to my iron game, he gave me immediate results. Cant ask for much more. Yea absolutely. Im definitly going to give it atleast 1 try and take it from there after that. -

if u dont mind CG, can I ask why you trusted the guy your letting teach you now? What made you say "OK he's good enough?" Did you just know his golf history and that spoke for itself? -

nah he does know the owner. It's just a small local shop. Hell Ive known the owner for years. I actually think he was there getting his sons club fixed. The way he was at the shop came across was wrong I am gonna edit the first post and be more clear. I didnt mean he was just there doing whatever. BTW, I offered to pay him. He never once offered to teach me for money. He came up to help me on his own, afterhearing some tips and noticing a difference immediately in my irons, I brought up him teaching me. -

Yes we did get along. Today he helped for free, but in general it would be 35$ + bucket of balls at the range where he would teach me. -
I have a question about who you would or should let teach you and help you out in your golf game. I just came back from indoor golf. Honestly, I didn't like it, but that's irrelevant. After the 3rd hole there was a guy hanging in the store who knows the owners. He was watching my swing and came over to me to offer some advice. Once he came over I switched it over to Driving Range, instead of the course. The Driving range aspect was absolutely phenomonal. I mean having it analyze every single shot and swing was beyond helpful. I mean it truly was impressive. Anyways back to the guy helping me. I don't know anything about him as a golfer other than he can drive the ball 280-320 every single time and it seems effort less and that he's been playing for 9 years. He is a school teacher regularly, so teaching in general comes easy to him. He gave me a bunch of tips about driving (ball placement, foot placement, hand placement at start, hand placement at top etc etc) and about iron game. After it was all said and done the driver is still brutal but that's expected. However, the few tips he gave me about irons were phenomonal. I mean he watched me swing the 8 iron a few times, gave me like 2 adjustments and I couldn't believe the improvements, mainly accuracy and hitting the ball cleanly at a much higher percentage. My question is should I ask about his handicap or not or anything else or should I not even care about that? I am a complete beginner, but it really came across as extremely knowledgable. I am tight on money, very tight. He said he enjoys teaching in general, hence being aschool teacher and offered to help me for 35$ + a bucket of balls at the range when we go. Of course I'd love to pay a few hundred for a "pro" but right now it's not possible. Thanks alot for all of your opinions before hand.

Revere - King Of Swing - 30$ per hour, regardless of how many people. Me and my buddy are gonna throw 15$ ea and go try it out. -
Just curious if anyone has played indoor golf? If so, what can I expect? Is it fun? I plan on going hopefully this afternoon for the first time, if not tomorrow morning.

What wedges should a beginner have in his bag?
No1CeltsFan replied to No1CeltsFan's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
your 100% rigth about the way the term Gap came about. I mean you could absolutely be right about AW and GW being the same. I mean I cant answer that because I just learned what the AW was lol. B ut in the game they are diff clubs. Either way I appreciate all the responses. Im going to go to PIAS and Golfer's Warehouse today to look at some GW's. -
tyvm! Never even heard of this site.

I am looking to buy a cheaply prices LH 9-Iron w/R-Flex. I got Adams 2-8 Irons, so an Adams would be great, but doesn't have to be that brand only.

i dont think it's the same as a Gap, because in Tiger Wood Golf 2010 it's a completely seperate club. I'm 99% sure in the game it goes AW, LW, SW, GW, PW -

thanks for all these answers guys. I'm glad I stumbled across this forum. I mean it's phenomonal. Much better to get back and forth between members, compared to reading an article and not being able to ask questions. -

I also might just upgrade my PW. The PW I got now is old. How old? Not sure I got it from a friend for free. I know it's not that good quality at all. I like the PW in general as a club to hit, so upgrading to a better one just might be the best option I have right now until I figure out which of the LW, GW and AW suits my game best. I smell a Golfer's Warehouse trip coming up in the next few days to try a few of each. -

I'm almost embarrassed to ask... but what exactly is the AW? I've googled it not 2 days ago to no avail. Thanks -
Frustration!!! Can't slow down!!
No1CeltsFan replied to rstyle's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
you just gotta do get something that makes you slow down. I mean like anything else in life it's not going to get fixed the first time out, it's going to happen over time. Maybe a month, maybe a year, but the bottom line is eventually it will get better. It might sound cliche, but "patience is a virtue". -
every single one was brand new except the 3 iron. Various flexs, but honeslty for 6$ I dont care about that lol. If you want to check the seller out DALLASGOLF is his EBay name. I mean he has nice lefty clubs and like I said VERY cheap. Also combines shipping for like 2$ per club, so shipping doesnt even cripple you. yes, it is friggen hard. Too hard!!!

minus the fact you hurt self that actually a funny story lol. That was the odd thing about my shot. I hit it perfectly. The only reason I even knew the club went flying was because all of a sudden the weight of club was cut in half lol. I still have no idea where the head went because I didn't have my glasses on. My friend said further than the ball but I dont trust him lol -

thanks I got my eye on and Adams Tight Lies IDEA A1 Lob Wedge for like 20-30$ on EBay. I got the SW and I like it. Just not 100% sure yet. Hopefully I get a few more opinions. -
I keep reading conflicting articles online about beginners and the wedges they should have in their bag. My questions really is should I have a lob and or gap wedge in the bag? Most articles agree that the Gap Wedge doesn't need to be in the bag, but the Lob Wedge is kind of 50/50. Hoping some of you guys can help me out better with why or why not I should buy 1 of the 2.
