  1. Day 5: Oct 2 Lesson followed by range time. Clubpath is in a good place…and I can really up my club speed without losing too much control. This is even translating into fairway woods & driver. I’m also increasingly able to call shots when I’ve left the face open (lessons are inside using Trackman, range is outdoors) - which feels exceptionally weird to do! Plan now is to mix-and-match practice shots: more controlled to get the clubpath right, then really turn it loose whilst trying to maintain the feels I understand/looking for.
  2. Day 4: Oct 1 Short takeaway drill session combined with some clubpath drills. It’s helped clarify a question I’ve got for my lesson tomorrow.
  3. Day 3: Sep 29 After a range day yesterday managed to get in 9 holes today. Few things to work on - I need to get more accurate with my iron play and I need to trust my golf swing off the tee. I don’t need a strong-ish grip any longer, I’m closing the clubface just fine. So trust it and execute.
  4. Day 2: Sep 26 Repeat of yesterday: Indoor drills working on takeaway & transition. Followed up by putting practice on a mat.
  5. Day 1: Sep 25 Stomach bug forced a training reset. No matter, back to work… Indoor drills working on takeaway & transition. Followed up by putting practice on a mat. Good to get on with it again.
  6. Day 90: Sep 22 Played 18 holes and steadily built a good score. A little inaccurate on approach play (but that’s being harsh) and a couple of questionable holes (back-to-back doubles) but otherwise all good. Got this thought process of “relax my forearms” - it’s not even a deliberate thought, just something that seems to be really helpful in delivering a good swing.
  7. Day 89: Sep 19 Basically a repeat of yesterday: Few minutes of drills at home, trying to keep the clubpath under control.
  8. Day 88: Sep 18 Few minutes of takeaway/transition drills at home, trying to keep the clubpath under control.
  9. Day 87: Sep 16 Golf lesson followed by range time. Really pleased with clubpath - it can certainly get away from me, but I can increasingly create a neutral path on demand. I highlighted my concerns about ball-striking; the message was to trust it and turn. Range time reinforced that that technique did work, resulting in a much crisper strike with increased ball speed. Focus now is to improve shaft lean to get better compression. Got a drill to help with that. But also need to keep drilling that clubpath!
  10. Day 86: Sep 15 Managed to squeeze in 9 holes. Decent enough short game/putting, rest was rather iffy at times. My conclusion at the moment is that because I’ve hit on-course targets this season, I’m almost lacking a “now what?” performance target. That’s creating lax concentration. Two plans: first, add more range time (and a bit less course time) to improve ball striking and general performance. Second, identify good on-course performance targets to aim for that are challenging but achievable.
  11. Day 85: Sep 14 Takeaway drills, trying to improve club position early in the backswing.
  12. Day 84: Sep 12 Played round of golf. Varying degrees of success off the tee - my return on the hole directly correlated with the quality of the tee shot. Short game/ putting remains in a generally good place and was more accurate on my approach shots.
  13. Day 82: Sep 10 Golf lesson, focusing on Continuing to improve my clubpath & clubface control. It’s getting there for sure - I can focus and deliver an accurate clubpath, but I leave the face open. So been working on over exaggerating the right moves, both during the lesson and later practicing into a net.
  14. Day 81: Sep 8 Another round of golf. Less pressure….and lo and behold I hole a bunch of putts. Stupid game! 🤣 My usual takeaway of becoming more accurate remains current, but it’s certainly improving - I’m missing in the right/safer places.
