Nice purchase I want one of those maybe next year

Also they outlawed clothesline hits so trying to go in with the arms itself could end up getting a defensive player penalized I think this is why they changed the rule so that if the defender is looking back at the ball on a play it isn't considered interference.

I have never, on any level of play from pewee to college participated in a defensive drill where you let the other player catch the ball. I can understand what your intent here is, but in my opinion it would not work. If you start to give up plays over the middle because they are shorter and you have the intent of bringing the player down in bounds you are setting yourself up to give up the big play. Say it is first and ten, short 2 yard pass over the middle. You would want your defense to allow the catch and try to bring the player down. Lets say you did get the tackle. Chances are the player gets another 2 yards before being brought down, and thats a conservative estimate. It is now, at best for you 2nd and six. Another short pass gets the Offense a first down, they also have the option of trying a run. In my opinion it is better to try to break up the pass and leave the offense with 2nd and 10. Now you have put them in an almost gaurenteed passing play and you can adjust your defensive call accordingly. In my opinion coaching to allow short passes in the 2 minute drill is overthinking the situation. This would only be exacerbated at the lower levels of play. Expecting a pewee or HS level player to make that type of snap decision is too much. If you say yourself that you don't expect your players to pull it off then why coach it?

Does anyone here pay to use this forum? The Mods can lock/delete any thread they want to, esp if those people are also owners. Don't like it here's some solutions. Start your own Golf forum. I am sure there are more than a few places on the internet where you can find people making up stories of having sex with cart girls, female golf pros, circus performers, etc etc. Join one of those forums. -
Since I only recently started playing my clubs are mostly used and I went through a few different ones figuring out what I liked. I like what I have now, and its given me ideas about what I want to purchase new in the future. The only new clubs I have are my wedges and putter.

Went to the store today just to look. Those Burner 2.0s look real nice in person. -
That, in my opinion, is an error in coaching. You shouldn't teach a defensive player to try to tackle a player going for a catch. You should teach the defensive player to attack the ball, try to get an interception or a tip. Not every coach is a good coach, esp in the peewee and HS ranks. I was lucky enough to have great coaches all through that time.

Yeah no one ever teaches a player to go airborne for a tackle. I was always taught to aim at the bellybutton and hit through the ballcarrier. You aim at the bellybutton but you are trying to hit the backbone if that makes sense. Going airborne for an offensive or defensive player only works in very specific situations and honestly its the most predictable thing a player cann do. Once you are airborne you can only move in that one direction.

You can't compare Rugby to Football. Both are different types of games played at different levels of exertion. Rugby is closer to soccer in that the plays develop organically and the action is close to constant. There are also very few open field runs as most of the time the action is rather centered around the ball, when the ball carrier is tackled it is usually in a closed space. Football is all set plays and moving players through open spaces, esp on offense. The tackles can occur in a closed space or out in the open. Therefore the hits are more violent. You can tackle a rugby player using your arms as it is ssually a tackle that occurs in a swarm of player and the runner is generally more upright when running. Football runningbacks/receivers run in a more crouched down position and usually have more space to maneuver. If you try to arm tackle a running back he will either bounce of or throw a quick juke so that you end up tackling air. There is no known way to form tackle a person where your head isn't in the lead. It sits on the top of your body, therefore it naturally is the first thing to make contact on most tackles. This is why the most important thing is to keep you neck in a bulled position, this compresses the vertebrae and keeps you from getting injured. Players get paralyzed when there neck is facing down on a hit because there vertebrae are not compressed. Harrison was not atempting to spear Cribbs or Massaquai, he did not throw his head at either player. His force carried his head through either player, he did not (like Merriweather) cock his head back and throw it into the offensive player. If Harrison would have attempted to slow himself up on the Massaquai hit chances are he would have ended up just as hurt or or more hurt than Massaquai. Has Harrison done some questionable things on the field, of course he has (the Todd Heap check on a spiked ball), but this weekend he did not. Defensive players are already at a distinct dissadvantage. The offense knows where they are going and when they intend to go there. To ask a defensive player to try to judge just how hard he needs to hit is ludicrous.

In the Merriweather hit you can clearly see him cock his head back and deliver a blow with his helmet. The Clark on Welker hit was in the same vein. Both were dirty. The Harrison hits were not like either of those though. Welker and Heap were not going to catch the ball, Massaquai was in the process of catching the ball. Arm Tackle = Missed Tackle

Brock couldn't go all gunghso takedowns against carwin because of the power Carwin has. Cain is a good striker, but his TKO come from punches in bunches. That should work more to Lesnar's advantage as he can focus more on his strength, which is wrestling. I see Lesnar securing a takedown within the first minutes of the fight and pulling off a powerful armbar. His BJJ under Comprido is making great advancements. The way he moved his hips and whipped his legs to setup the arm triangle on Carwin was a high level move. He already has exceptional top control and I think this fight he will show some more of his vastly improving BJJ game.

In neither case was the Harrison hits intentional, unlike the Merriweather on Heap hit. In the case of Cribbs he was held up by the first tacker and Harrisons momentum carried him through. That was 1/10 of a second away from being a beautiful tackle. In the Massaquia (sp) hit the receiver went down fumbling the ball, Harrison was already in his tackling position and again his momentum carried him through. In neither case was he leading with his head, thats why no penalty was given. I have no problem with him sayng his intention is to hurt the player he is tackling. Football HURTS, wether you are on the giving or receiving side of a tackle. HE clearly stated that his intention is not to INJURE. If people cannot make the distinction they should not be watching football. When I played football (elem, HS, College) my intention was to hit the other player as hard as I could, within the rules, to inflict as much damage as possible, regardless of if I was on defense or offense. There are cases when having your head as a tackler orientated to the middle of the offensive player is warrented. As long as you keep your neck bulled you cannot suffer any injury from doing that. There are many different ways to tackle that a good defensive player uses in different situations. If you are dealing with a RB who can juke you having your head oriented at his bellybutton gives you a better chance of making the tackle. The number one things to teach as far as form tackling is concerned is keeping your neck in a bulled position, wrap your arms and explode using your hips and back through the offensive player. Football has to be played at full speed. If they ask these defensive player to try and slowdown and assess every motion you will see WAY more player being injured on the defensive side.

I drink copious amounts of water pre/during/post workout. Helps with the creatine satuaration as well. I may look to incorporate a whey protein powder next month as well to see if it helps.

I like the natural sounds and quite of the course. I really wouldn't want to listen to anything while playing. In the gym I like breakcore like Venetian Snares or some old fugazi.

I started again a few months ago after 10-12 years of not playing

I might look into it, I think the GG close to me can do that.

What is the best way to tell what flex shaft I should have on my driver? I seem to hit my irons better and they have a S/R shaft which I believe is Stiff/Regular. The shots tend to go straighter whereas my driver shots tend to go left. The shaft on my driver is a Fujikura Gold. Would moving to a stiffer flex shaft help?
