  1. Agree with most points here. If you recently started, you have to condition yourself to hit a lot of balls. Some main pointers about going to the range I've found, try them, or don't. 1. Practice like you're playing. Take a few practice swings, and set up like you would on the course. It gets you into a good habit and muscle memory is better as well. You don't always have to do this, but if you do this, it should help you from getting too fatigued. 2. Focus on tempo and rhythm above all things. This way you're not just hitting balls mindlessly. 3. Start out with driver or longer clubs. This is for a couple reasons. First of all, when you go on the course, most courses start with a driver shot. Also, I think this loosens you up for the rest of your range session. If you are getting tired, it is easier to hit good short iron/wedge shots than long irons/woods. Good luck!
  2. I noticed the same things about my ball position, swaying and stance width when I actually saw it on video. I don't know how/when this started happening, but I tried to fix some of those things and my normal ball flight and impact is coming back. Thanks guys!
  3. A month ago I got a 17* hybrid to close the gap between my Driver and 3 iron. I hit it high and straight the first week I got it and it helped me to shoot a career best 76. Then I started to draw it and then the draw got bigger until it turned into a low sharp hook after I tried to fix it. About 2 weeks ago, this problem crept into my driver swing and now I hit the same low hook. It is only these two clubs that I am struggling with as of now. I tried a few things like making my strong grip more neutral and even weak to get rid of the hook, but it causes me to slice it and it's really uncomfortable since I've always had a strong grip. I saw my pro for a lesson and he tried to get me to emphasize me getting the feel of taking my backswing and downswing more outside outside and keeping the face open. Any tips or drills would be very much appreciated! Thanks!
  4. I would say that when you feel comfortable with your natural ball flight and that you believe it will be consistent. No sense in trying different ball flights when you aren't consistent with your current one. Wait till you feel like no matter what new things you try, you can go back to your natural, normal swing.
  5. Shot an 85. 44 on the front and 41 on the back. Was on fire on the back 9. I had 1 bogey on 18 and had 7 pars. Unfortunately I had a quad on a par 5 on the back...
  6. Just graduated from the University of Washington with a Business degree. Going to start work in public accounting in January. Nothing but golf for the rest of the year for me. Playing about 4~5 times a week right now :)
  7. I actually have the same problem with my driver and hybrid. I used to hit my driver straight/slight draw about 275-300 yards for about a year and then suddenly lost that swing and it's been about 2 weeks now. Same with you, my irons are fine with a slight draw. I had a lesson a few days ago from my pro and he told me I was coming in too inside on my downswing and recommended that I exaggerate going outside on my backswing/downswing. He also said to try and hold the face open and try to slice the ball. Once you slice the ball, you're supposed to relax and swing. Holding the face open helps me get the ball more up in the air, as well. This seems like the opposite of what your pro told you... So far, the result have been mixed, but my ball is starting to fly higher and not hook as severely. I try and control my tempo a little better as well. Let me know if that helps at all. Good luck!
