  1. Thanks everybody, Really nice to see so many responses to my post. I did pick up a copy of Dave Pelz Short Game Bible, so far I'm really enjoying it. Also checking out some pitching videos on youtube. I think going to the park to practice is a great idea, I plan to do that more frequently. Take care, Jason
  2. thanks for the replies, appreciate it. I've been told that the chip and pitch shots can be hit similar to the putting stroke, however I've also heard that you should rotate your lower body some with the ball. any comments on dos and donts? Thank you.
  3. Hello, My long game is OK, putting is OK, however that 2nd or 3rd shot to get on the green is killing me. When I practice at home, eventually I find a rhythm and touch. When I play on the course though, I freeze up and find myself either hitting the ball incredibly short, mishitting, or hitting it way too far. Thanks for any tips, Jason
  4. Hi Pavespawn, I was supposed to be on deck for this year as a co-leader, however depending on work I may not be able to do it. I have two boys, 5 and 7, the seven year old was in it last year, I thought it was pretty neat (I was not in the Scouts previously). We did win the pine car derby last year, that was a really great moment for our family (first trophy for my son - first trophy for me too come to think of it). Have a good day Jason
  5. Hi All, 2nd post here at Sandtrap. Beer is good. I'm also a big fan of Octoberfest, my personal favorite is Spaten Octoberfest. Regarding some of my other faves, they're dependent on the format: Heineken Keg Can (small) Peroni bottle Sierra on tap any pale ale in a cask Guinness from the draught Dog Fish Ale 60 minute (bottle or tap) Take care Jason
  6. Hi Matt, First post here, I quit cigs 3 years ago after 17 years. My tips: - focus on your breathing instead of your mind. anytime you want a cig, breath some fresh air into your lungs instead of thick black carcinogenic smoke. - have a glass of water instead of a cigarette. - do some exercise (especially cardio - you will feel your lungs again) - bkoguy07 had the best tip - "man up". just don't smoke. don't buy em, don't lift em to your mouth, don't light em, don't inhale. if you can sit through a tatoo or make it through severe physical pain, you can make it through not smoking. mind over matter. It took me about seven or eight tries to quit - keep quitting til it sticks. Once it sticks, don't touch cigs. Best to you on your quest, Jason
