  1. I recently traded in my Ping G2 for a Lynx Predator Ti, but didn't really pay attention to the sound of the Lynx when i demo'd it in Golfsmith. Once i got in on the course though, it sounded like i was hitting a fungo bat against a steel pole! I was a little put-off at first, but the performance of the club has definitely made me care less about the sound. I still get just as much distance as the G2, but now i get very little sidespin and i even get the bonus of not having to yell "fore!" at all after a tee shot b/c everyone is already looking my way due to the fungomatic.
  2. Shot a 93 yesterday at a local muni. A couple of snowmen kept it from being a really good day. Don't really like the course since it's typically in terrible shape, but the air show is in town and the airfield is just over the fence from the course. Wasn't as focused as usual with all the F-16's and A-10's flying by at min altitude :)
  3. Driving - 7 Approach - 5 Short Game - 7 Sand - 4 Putting - 6 Course Management - 6 Driving and chipping have really been saving me lately, but my approach shots are still a crap shoot. Gotta figure out a way to hit my other irons the way i hit my 49* wedge -- with that baby i'm always able to find the green.
  4. It's typically a bad tee shot that does me in, but I also know that my course management could use some work. I've been doing a better job lately of getting myself into position to use my wedges since i have them pretty dialed in. One thing that has hurt me is that i didn't have a club i could hit between the driver and 3h, which left a pretty big gap (205-250yds). I just got a new Driver, 3 wood, & 5 wood, so that will definitely help with the yardage gap and will provide some options off the tee if my new driver starts acting like my old one :)
  5. Shot another 95 today, this time at Bay Forest GC (LaPorte). Missed several 10 footers for birdie. Finally signed up to make Bay Forest my home course, so i'll have an "official" handicap soon :) I plan on playing 18 again this weekend and might leave work early Tues to play 36 at another local course. (Might as well get all the golf I can right now since the wife and kid are out of town!)
  6. There are apparently some apps coming in the future that do just that: http://www.plumamazing.com/ - scorecard app for iphone 3G http://www.itinerantsoftware.com/products - golf GPS rangefinder app for iphone 3G Not sure how well these apps will work, but it's at least a step in the right direction...
  7. Shot 95 today at Timber Creek GC (Houston). Would've been much better, but got tired and went all Tin Cup on the last 3 holes (+10 on those 3). Made some nice long putts even though the greens were bumpy from recent aeration.
  8. I hear that man. That was not cool
  9. I think that's more of an insult to Stevie than to Lori I bet you if someone lined him up right, he'd have two putted at least one of those holes instead of blowing it by each time like Lori did.
  10. I feel bad for Paula too, but i think that she could benefit from a caddy that helps her make better decisions. That second shot at 9 where she just saw Lewis go long over the green and then does the same thing -- her caddie should've made sure she missed anywhere but long. There was also a chip shot later on the 10th where she tried to go through a tree and hit it -- she was lucky the ball didn't carem off the tree and into the hazard. A good caddie would've had her hit the middle of the green where the tree was out of play and then still have a shot at birdie. My 2 cents anyway... Oh yeah, i thought she was smokin' hot today :)
  11. I was using a Tour Edge mallet, which worked pretty well considering its cheapness, but I always wanted to move up to a nice blade since that's what Tiger and other really great putters use. I recently went out and got the Taylormade Rossa Classic Imola 8 -- just fell in love with the simplicity of the club and the 'click' of the ball when it comes off the face. Maybe one day I'll step up to a Scotty, but for now I'm perfectly content with my choice.
  12. Agreed, that's one ugly swing, not that mine looks good or anything You're missing the point -- Christina doesn't need any help (in her looks or her golf game), it's the other two that need all the help they can get. Especially when one shanks a drive OB with virtually no pressure on her at that point and the other relies on her husband to read her putts for her.
  13. I hate that Liz got sent home, now the only reason I have to watch is Christina :) Who else wishes they could combine Tina and Courtney into one uberchick?
  14. It's too hot here in Houston to play in slacks, so I usually play in cargo shorts and a collared shirt. I save the t-shirts for the range or yard work...
  15. Got another new guy here. I'm a GNC Flight Controller for the Space Shuttle Program here in Houston, TX.
