  1. I usually just go to the range when I feel somethings wrong with my swing that I need to fix. I've gotten a lot better from just playing. If I do go its just a small bucket to warm up before playing.
  2. It all depends on who I'm playing with. When I'll play with my friends who don't play near as much as me I'll joke around and talk it up which usually results in me not shooting good. I take it serious and like quiet when I play with friends who shoot near me.
  3. Hahah that's quite the title there. No shame in using your 3 wood instead of Driver. I actually find my self doing that sometimes when my woods on and my driver is not. If your local club has a short range or a practice green work on that. If you can master 100 yds and in, you'll be in good shape even if your drives are not the straightest. I watched playing with the pros the other day (Jeff Ogilvy) and one of the tips he gave was practice chipping and your short pitches often because it teaches you very solid contact.
  4. Yesterday, struggling early on, but on a 251 Par 4, hit green with my 3 wood. Blew the eagle putt but I wont complain about a birdie lol.
  5. Thanks guys, I'll try all these out. So when I pull the ball left, am I swinging from outside to inside like a slice but I'm just not cutting across adding the spin for the slice? I seem to recall that my right arm was not very close to my body.
  6. Hey guys I just recently changed up my grip and swing and had a little difficulty out today. I was pullin my 3 wood to the left. I had good distance probably about 240-250yds but my ball would fly about probably 15+ feet away from the fairway. I know have a neutral grip whereas before I kept my hands more rolled left resulting in a slight fade. I think that my swing was a little too inside today. Do you guys have any drills for my backswing so I can differentiate between too inside and to outside. My swing just feels a bit awkward since Im still tryin to get used to a new grip.
  7. First Make sure your setting up and gripping everything correctly. If you want some good explanations go to videojug.com. He really explains grips and technique well. Second Practice! Practice! Practice! I've become a good putter but it was through hundreds of putts that I was able to learn how to play slopes, speed, and distance. Just keep playing and don't rush into putts, take time and look around the whole green and look at how it changes.
  8. Try making your swing a bit steeper and see what happens. I used to have this problem too, I'd find it weird i wouldn't divot with my 3 or 4i. I found that I wasn't shifting my weight forward much during my downswing so I felt that really worked for me. But I don't divot all the time with my short irons and still hit very straight and long shots.
  9. Hitting low or high shots can be pretty easy it just depends on where you set up your ball. In your situation with the tree you'd wanna punch the ball out. So just play the ball way back in your stance. (close to your right foot). Assuming the branches are very low as you said you might wanna hit was as low lofted club as possible. Just remember to keep your hands forward so the club face has a really low angle. Now for High shots you wanna do the opposite. Practice around at the range with ball positions either toward your left foot (high) or your right foot (low).
