Yesterday I played 18 holes at George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park, MA (a suburban neighborhood of Boston).
On the 435 yard, par 4, dogleg left tenth hole, I hit the longest and best drive of my life. There are markers on each hole (200, 150, and 100 yards) that tell you how far you have remaining to the green. At around the 200 yard marker begins a hill that carries down to the front of the green.
My drive was a perfect draw that ended up about 10 yards in front of the 150 yard marker in the middle of the fairway. It was at least a 290 yard drive. I usually hit my driver an average of 250 on a good day.
Since the hole was downhill I used my 9-iron for my second shot and landed it within 15 feet of the pin and got a par for the hole.
