  1. all three clubs you mention seem to be in same class of irons - game improvement irons...they all seem pretty similar for what they are designed to do....why don't you try players irons if you want a set to grow into???
  2. I have had my R7 TPs for about 2 years and have been cleaning them with soap/water in a bucket almost weekly and have yet to see it rust
  3. I switched to the R9 after using the Titleist 905 R for 3 years and currently have regretted it thus far. I think it's more forgiving but seems shorter overall. I am not too thrilled about the stock shaft and it's difficult to change out the shaft except buying a new one thru Taylormade for a couple of hundred dollars; I am going to use it for a few more months before I totally give up on it and move onto either 909 D3 or Ping G10
  4. I have been playing R7 TPs for about 2 years....they are pretty good; some feel, lots of forgiveness and looks like a blade at address....if you are a pretty good ballstriker I would give them a try; previous irons I have used include Mizuno MP32, Titleist 735CM
  5. I too have had good experience with TGW ...buying the sale golf shoes.... I think the prices on Golfsmith, Edwin Watts, Golf Galaxy are not as good... the only other two sites I have used are rockbottomgolf and gofl discount.... I would go to the local pro shop...just picked up another pair of ECCO shoes for $99 (retail $159)
  6. So what is your recommendation IACAS??? Are you honestly saying that it's ok for hacks to play with blades over cavity backs; I am not talking about the hack that eventually becomes a low handi player over time (like yourself) but the typical hack that you see on a golf course...most people don't achieve the golf nirvana you do whether it's from talent or practice; Why do you think most people play cavity backs over blades???
  7. I think if you are low handicap golfer you should use blades but if someone is struggling to break 100 it makes no sense to use blades the fact that it worked for you (IACAS) doesn't apply to most golfers (N=1 is not enough) It's true that professional golfers are also using less blades and more cavity backs...at that level they can play whatever they want!!!
  8. I use 3 wedges PW (48) - SW (54) and LW (58)...I think it is better to get comfortable with 3 wedges (ie half, 3/4 and full wedge shots)... I would drop your 3 iron unless you can pure it consistently....3 hybrid is so much easier than the 3 iron (used to carry 3 iron until about 6 months ago)... It's important to have your clubs checked in terms of loft/lie b/c you might be surprised how off they are before you make your decision....
  9. I love my Taylormade RAC TP satin wedges....lot better than the Mizuno MP wedges which I used for about 3 years.....
  10. I have also switched to TM TP Red balls and Bridgestone 330S balls; I think they are equally good as the Titleist ProV1x but can find it significantly cheaper $5-10 per dozen
  11. I agree ...if you can't hit your driver past 150 yds it isn't the driver ... I thought you were saying you were hitting to about the 150 yard marker (ie 250 off the tee on a typical par 4 400 yards).... how far do you hit your driver???? spare me the 90 mph swing doesnt correlate with the 5 iron 195 90 mph usw translates to regular flex so your 5 iron probably goes about 170 at most
  12. have used both and currently using TM R7 TP irons; your inconsistencies are more likely from the graphite shafts than the difference b/w cast and forged; forged irons feel much better esp the mizuno; but they also seem easier to damage; I thought I would only use forged after playing mizuno mp32 and titleist 735cm but honestly I think the R7 TPs are so much easier to use when your game is a little "off"; no difference in ability to work the ball;
  13. 20 handicap to forged blades is a BIG move...... with all your pure shots why is it you are not scoring in the 70s??? I would take an intermediate step to MP60/57 or Titleist 755/735 before u make the jump to the real blades.... everyone thinks they are the exception to the rule of "bogey golfer using blades" but I think you should seriously think twice before making the move...
  14. love the r7 TPs previously played the 735Cm and MP-32 although not forged these are so much easier to hit .... the 735 felt a bit harsh although I liked the combo set the cast irons seem lot more durable but certainly not as much in the feel dept...
  15. played RAC OS2 b4 which were pretty good but R7 TPs are so much better.... depends what u r looking for though ...... r7 TPs good for low handicap (
