Yesterday morning I went to visit my parents for the weekend because my mother had just had surgery. Well my little brother was there at their home so we decided to go play yesterday. We went and played in a 25 - 30 mph wind at 45 degrees F and I played some pretty good golf. First course was par 72, can't remember the slope rating, but its almost a links style course. I think it was origninally suppose to be one. Anyways, I shot an 80 (First 9, had 3 bogeys and second nine had a double and three bogeys). The wind was much worse on on the back nine. But I was hitting solid woods and irons. I chipping pretty good. Putting was off. I think I 30 putts that round. But all and all not bad considering the conditions. We went and checked on mom, ate some lunch and then decided to go play this other course that is closer to my mothers house. Alot more trees, and slicker greens with good slope. I shot an 82 (Both nines had 3 bogeys and a double). I was alittle POed about the doubles but all and all not a bad round for me. The only thing was on the last hole I hit a house. Didn't hurt it but scared me. Now I have just recently replaced most of the woods in my bag. As soon as I hit that drive, I started second guessing my self. I thought about it most of the night last night. Hell, this morning I was freakin out so bad that I actually went to range prior to playing. The day started out ok. I got through 7 holes at 4 over and then blew up. Tripled number 8 and after the other ten holes I ended up 23 over for the 18.

Now, I got a few things from playing this weekend.
1. I tried a 58 degree wedge instead of a 56 and 60 and that helped my game around green. And the fact that I bump and runnin the ball close to hole on both days.
2. It might have been because I was tired, but ultimately I just let myself get beat mentally and I know thats why I put up a 95 today. I was so worried about taking a my new driver, three wood, or hybrid on shots that required them that I wouldn't let myself relax and play my game. I think thats what makes me maddest. I think I'll feel more comfortable once I take them to range and played afew more times with them
3. I'm pretty sure the reason for my inconsistency today was because I was letting my right knee break on my back swing and then rushed to get through the ball. So I'm also gonna take that into consideration and possibly get a lesson if I can't correct it on the range.

Bottomline, I've only played afew times this year and my scores have been 79,80, 82, and 95 so I'm hoping that was just a bad round and after a few trips to range I can correct it.

Did anyone blow up this weekend?

yeahhhh... shot a 20 over 91 on a pretty easy track.

I WAS using a new set of irons, but I only hit 2/14 fairways, and 2 greens. I also "flubbed" 3 chip shots. That's just not ok.

Bright side was I putted pretty well!

Next time out will be better.

I didn't blow up today because I didn't play today, but I absolutely shit the bed yesterday. Popping up drives, fat iron shots, skulling almost every chip. The only thing I had going for me was putting and a stinger 3 wood. Worst round in years and hopefully that'll be my worst round for years to come.

I got really wild off the tee yesterday and shot 85 - hopefully a driving range session before today's round will cure this. You are not alone.

I feel ya alcorn.

I was down playing in the Madison/Hanover area. I live right next to Salm but I don't really like it. I'll usually try to iron wood a few times a year, but I'm thinking since I like Saddlebrook and its $20 for all the golf you can hit with a cart after 6 pm I may start playing there once or twice a week. I've played one course out around brownsburg but I can't remember what it was called. It was afew miles north of brownsburg (between there and highway 865.

But yeah. The wind was definately brutal Friday but I've played worse. I've been thinkin about what happened yesterday. Just kinda goin over it in my head and figured out what to work on. 1. Take my ass to the range and work on targeting and distances with my irons and work with my new woods and hybrid and see if I can't get them under control. 2. Work on my putting. I lost probably 5 or 6 strokes yesterday because I tried to finesse 4 foot putts. I should be ramming those home. 3. Keep working on chipping. 4. Just get out there and play. anyways guys. Thanks for reading my rant.

    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.

    • Yes, because you have lifted to like 120° without bending the left elbow. So when you turn and the left elbow bends… it bends in such a way that you then lower your left humerus and pull the club around you.
