Havent tried, but I'm using a GS75 steel shaft and its GOLF-TASTIC!!! not quite the distance of graphite, but its accurate like you wouldn't believe. High ball trajectory.

blades are supposed to give you "controll," but if you can't controll the ball using blade, why use them? Your obviously playing with the wrong set in the blades if you are having trouble with getting GIR, but have no trouble with cavity-backs. Go with the cavity-backs.

I didn't like playing for a while too, but I was not going to give up that easily. I found myself hitting at least 2 bukets a day, every day. I tried a drill using two balls from the link Q.Q.Quillume googled for me earlier. It works quite well. I'm going to add the "box in front of ball" drill to my practice. I also found that taking back the club at a steeper angle helped get the club in at a steeper angle of attack (that's what the drills are trying to make you do). Keeping this in mind helped the most. Sure sound like good advice to me... I'll drink to that.

I dont realy hit cuts unless I set up for one. Most of the time my ball flight is right to left. I believe I may have an extreamly inside to outside swing path. I tend to hold the angle of the shaft right before impact, a la Ben Hogan. I will definatly try recording my swing. I have done so actually, but with an inferior camera. so everything was a blurr. What's the minimum fps (frames per sec.) required to be able to effectivly analyse my swing? I know people tend to dart away when they hear the S word. So I greatly appreciate all the input I have recieved so far. Thanks again for the tips, and concern. I hope I work it out soon too. got a class tornament next week.

After trying some of the things mentioned in that article, I was able to controll my sh**k. But it* still pops back out, specially after I crank out a long one with my driver. When I go driver to wedge, my easy approach with a wedge becomes a nightmare... And like lamebums, I tend to "kill" my shots... force of habbit. Perhaps that is contributing to the Shhhhhh.... if not the cause. somthing to think about at the practice range.. Watching the Masters... GO TIGER GO!!!!

Got out on the course yesterday. Hit my longest drive to date @ 270 with my newly shafted driver. Kranked out a bucket of 85 balls with the driver. So far, no signs of damage or weakening of the shaft. Thanks again guys

I've played Adams Idea, Callaway X, Ping G5 hybrids with stock shafts. I think they all exellent clubs, but with the Adams being the best of the 3. But the BEST hybrid I've played is the SMT Advocet. I shafted mine with a GS75 s200, wich is too whippy for my taste. Even so, this club is absolutly awsome. Unbelievable distance (mostly carry) and playability, very workable. With one single 23 deg hybrid has taken the place of my 5 wood, 3~5 irons. And by gripping to the lowest part of the grip with a smooth 1/2 swing I have a consistant Mid/low trajectory shot to 150yards, which I used to use a 6 or 7 iron. Full shots will fly 200+ yards carry off the tee, 185 carry off the deck. I highly recommend this club. I have taken +/- 5 strokes off my score since adding this club to my bag.

Awsome! Thanks, everybody for the input. Now I know the how and the why. After inspecting the thickness of the shaft, I desided to sand down it down to fit. From the looks of the shaft after resizing, it appears to still have a good margin of material from the hollow inside to the mating surface to the hosel. Hopfully it will hold. If it breaks... I'll still have a suitable shaft for a 7 or 5 wood. BTW the shaft in question is a UST super 47 lite stiff. fingers crossed...

I believe it has to help the consistancy and predictability in a set of clubs. But obviously its not going to magically cure swing faults. I'm sure you can feel at least a slight difference swinging and hitting balls, if not a difference in shot dispersion. (At least thats what I keep telling myself )

I you want a perfect club for your swing, I don't think an off the rack club is going to do it. Might I sugest having one custom built? If you don't mind component clubs, I highly recommend the SMT line of driver heads. Theyve won a number of long drive championships and have an awsome reputation. I have never seen, heard, or read any complaints about them or their products. On top of that, they have lifetime warranty on all their club heads! Thats just unheard of. Mate the head to a fitted shaft to your swing. You will have one solid driver. I call this club my "magic stick" Balls just explode off the face of this baby. Super consistant, considering the saft I'm using which is to whippy for my swing. When I Kill it, 200+ yards carry. Gripping to the lowest point of the grip, I can consistanly hit a high flier to 150 yds using a smooth 3/4 swing. High ball, Low ball, cut, and draw can be easily done. Mind you, I started playing golf in april, 2006 and have a hadicap of 25. Just to give an idea of how playable this thing is. Enough boasting about my magic stick... Anyways..., they make some good stuff over there. Definatly worth a try. I will be building a 455 driver and a 19 deg avocet in the future. Once i have enough extra cash. I'm sure they will help you select the right driver for your game if you contact their service department. edit: BTW my average Driver carry is 235 yds. 250 w/roll.

It's basically a metal flanged tube with 2 free rotating ball bearings pressed into each end. This part holds the shaft butt while the spine tool is clamped in a vise or attached to a solid base. That's exactly the problem... can't find anybody near by to bore out my hosel. I have access to a drill press, but no head vise to secure it properly.

I feel the same way about the game as Mt.Hip. It is because I never play as well as I KNOW I can play. Never shot that low score that I KNOW I can shoot. Never smash the ball as long as I know I can drive. This DRIVES ME NUTS!!! This keeps me going back to the golf course and practice range. I even learned to build my own clubs because I KNOW off the shelf clubs just dont fit me as they should. Some call it insanity, I call it passion....and insanity. I love the game because for the time you are playing, that is all that matters in the world. And when at the range, all that matters is curing my swing-faults and dialing in that 5-yard draw. I praise and curse at the same time, those drunk scottish fellas who desided to make a game out of hitting a tiny little ball in a tiny little gopher hole 300+ yards away. Insanity indeed... -FOOOOOOORE!!!

What if I shot a lower score? I'm have trouble finding someone to rebore my .335 hosel to .350. I have a 460 ti componet clubhead. Launcher ti clone. I bought the .350 shafts thinking they would fit withourt measuring. Pulled the shaft... oops. Not as close of a clone as I thought. Any advice? I have some drill bits the correct size. Would carfull use of a hand drill work? Or would I be just asking for trouble?

I've got a major problem shanking the ball. Especially pressure shots. The more I try to correct it, it seems, the worse I shank it. I would probably shank my driver, if it was possible(heel shots). Any tips on fixing a shank.

I dont understand how you can have an effective golf swing if you dont have a wrist cock in your backwsing. Must be a wierd looking swing. I usualy slow my swing when hitting into wind. Speed is adjusted according to intensity of the wind. I find it much more consistant than trying to punch it low by moving the ball back in my stance. As for my driver I will kill it everytime unless there is water or if its realy windy. If the conditions are as I stated above, then I would use a smooth swing while thinking "Ernie Els..." in my mind. Otherwise... BOMB & GOUGE BABY!!!

If you don't mind the square head. I have tested the SUMO2 and the Callaway back to back. The NIKE had got to be the straightest, most forgiving club I have ever tried. Coupled with the 55 gram shaft, LOOONG is all I can say. Sounds loud, but it might be because I was swinging it much faster than I usually swing. I feel comfortable killing every shot with 100% of my power, because the clubface is super wide. Much wider than the Callaway. even mis-hits go straight. I didnt try to work the ball with it. I imagine it would be dificult to work the ball. If you want to work the ball I'd bet the Callaway would be much easier than the NIKE. Only complaint is the price.

YES! callie c-groove, 35". but I wouldnt mind if it was 34". Looks nice, cool looing c-groove that rolls the ball very well. Rolls better than my teardrop putter. I highly recoment any c-grooved putter heads.
