  1. Erik's analysis:
  2. So the other day I started a conversation with iacas about rate of closure. I was trying to pick his brain on what caused a faster rate of closure, what high rate of closure would do, etc. Its something that I'm about to start working on and was trying gain a little more knowledge before I go at it. Luckily for me, Erik did one better and actually analyzed my swing. Hope you guys enjoy. Me 4-5 months before I started converting to S&T;: Me in October I have lots to learn and lots to work on. It would probably be going faster if I was working with someone, but its a pretty valuable experience in my opinion.
  3. So you believe the above to be true? This wasn't a contest, it was a marketing stunt. End of story. Just another reason not to support TGC in my opinion.
  4. Clearly the votes didn't matter though. As much as I don't like his teaching, one of the contestants had a lot more votes than everyone else and we won't be seeing him on TGC.
  5. I hear this a lot. In fact, before I understood the system I used to say that it made sense for mid-short irons, but I couldn't understand how it worked for longer clubs. It comes from a lack of understanding or misunderstanding about the steepness of the swing. A lot of people think they are using the system just because they stay centered or come in steeper, but the reality is that they aren't. Once you understand the pieces that help shallow out the club (and start doing it), you will see the true beauty with the system is in the longer clubs.
  6. My favorite
  7. Its not an address thing. Spine extension is a movement during the backswing. Its what our spine has to do to keep our head in position (vertically). Its like going from your setup position to standing up without taking the bend out of your knees. Once you blend that with the rotation and lean of the spine the head stays in position. If one of those happens faster than the other the head will move, so the end goal is to sync them up.
  8. 1. I like something small better (ie: tees) because you can be more specific with where you want the pressure, but yes thats the drill. 2. Yes. Once you get the pressure in your armpits the hands will go more around than up. Your hands will finish more even with the shoulders. You can take a look at someone like Grant Waite or Charlie Wi on youtube for a comparison. 3. Yea, the hips should be sliding towards the target. Add pressure on the left foot as your taking your backswing and the hip movement will be a lot easier. You don't want a sudden shove of the hips towards the target. 4. -- vs \ The one on the left is flat and the one on the right is steep. You want to push your left shoulder down rather than across. However, it is kind of hard to tell. It could be that your shoulder turn is fine and the lifting of your arms makes it look more flat. If I had to guess though I would say its a little flat.
  9. The first thing I'd work on is extension of the spine during the backswing. By the time you get to the top you don't have much room to swing.
  10. You lose connection almost immediately. At the top the hands are high and the arms are off the body. From there it looks like you don't have enough lateral movement. The combination of high hands/disconnection plus a turn to start the downswing is a bad combo. It throws everything over plane. You should try and keep the pressure points in your armpits intact (tee drill would fix that). You can't exactly see the lateral movement, or lack thereof, from the DTL view, but it looks pretty apparent to me. I would do the stop and go drill where you are working on pressing the left foot into the ground to get the hips to start moving left. That should get the hips moving better and help with synchronizing everything. EDIT* Shoulder turn is a little flat as well.
  11. Sounds good. I meant to take advantage of the same offer before, but kept forgetting.
  12. As was stated before, this whole argument started on another forum (I don't know the rules and I'm new so I won't name it.) He, s2s, gave his opinion about something and I disagreed. Next thing I know its going on in 4 different threads on 2 different forums... all with the same result I might add. Was just jokingly saying sorry for the frustration... but seriously, sorry.
  13. I've been meaning to get one of these for the longest time. Love the concept and the simplicity.
  14. I apologize for this spilling over into this forum. I kind of kept it going, when I should have let it die, on the other forum. Just thought I'd say sorry. I'll try to start contributing more over here to make up for the frustration I have caused for some of you.
