  1. I agree with El Chaparral. I found Santa Clara to be nice and easy, Santana was also nice but its a bit of a drive up the hills. I'm sure most courses in the area is good. If you contact "Sunshine Golf" down there they can give you a good deal. I've used them once and a buddy of mine use them all the time. http://www.sunshine-golf.co.uk/golf-courses/courses.asp
  2. Hi and welcome! I'm just a few days in before you and have as you been a reader for a long time. Its a good forum! Looking like Tiger might help with the ladies but might not help you score any lower if its not the swing they refer to :) Any plans on how to reach your interesting goals?
  3. The best post ever! :D
  4. The best post ever! :D
  5. Thanks for a question that makes sense =) As a beginner I can say that I kept the driver at home in the beginning but after 4-5 months and i felt like i could controll the irons i got it out again. At that point I had to change my swing to be able to use the driver and it messed up my irons. Not sure what the best way to go about it is but I would advise you to use the full range of clubs including the driver at the range but not take it out while playing before you feel you have control of it. In the very beginning I wouldn't use it at all as I gave my FT-5 to a friend of mine to try the first time he was at the range and he managed to hit the ball with the hosel and the hosel broke so its now in the trunk of my car and replaced by an used Nike Ignite i picked up.
  6. I was watching the Deutsche bank championship from last year this weekend. On the day that Hoffman won the reporters mention when talking about Hoffman that they watched him drive a number of balls of the deck that morning. Do some of the pro's do this when they practise or could this be a trick to shake of some error in his swing that mornig? To pull the shot off, would you move the ball closer to the middle i guess?
  7. I started playing in the fall of 2010 and we start in Norway at 54hcp (heard that is different from country to country) and went down to 38 in two rounds. I didn't get the chance to play and official round again due to winter. My goal for 2011 is to go from 38 to 20 in hcp and I need to improve my ball striking to get there. Not sure if I'll make it but anyways, that’s my goal.
  8. I play because I still cant get the hang of it ;)
  9. I liked Tigers "how long is this show" comment.. they played for a looong time to be a talkshow. I think Tiger is as good as you can expect in these situations, he's a golfer not a talkshow host. I'm buying in to the new Tiger and I respect him as a golfer and a man that's gone through the rough. A comment on the side; I have never tried any of these types of games where your movement is reflected to the screen, can they give you a real feel? Can someone that has never played golf do just as good as a low hcp on their first couple of tries?
  10. Hei Zeph! I saw your swing a few days ago and felt like I had seen that view before :D I live a bit more vest, in Stavanger. I have taken some lessons from a friend of mine. I had lessons during the "green card training" but that didn't do much for me. My buddy used to be in the pluss and won a few smaller tournaments in the US, he's about 3,4 now as he doesn't play as serious anymore. Everytime he helps me out I move a bit closer to where I need to be but I'll often change something and develop a new dumb error a few weeks later. My shanking is not that bad last week and this week, I only had two out of a bucket yesterday so I'm getting there just in time to pick up some other bad habit :p My plan was to get some training from an instructor in the area but I haven't been able to find one thats active before now and I dont want to change too much before my trip so i'll save the lessons for next month. A week in Spain would have been perfect. We fly down on Thurday next week and back on Sunday.
  11. I do some indoor biking when my whife is out for the evening :D Not all that often anymore but I used to be very hooked and attended a few races.. Golf has taken over as my new drug these days. Thinking about going back to my bike closer to summer but it can go both ways. Don't have time for both.
  12. I use a black Golden Bear Golden Touch glove these days as its thicker and its cold. I have been using a few different FJ gloves before and like them, i'll switch back when it gest a bit warmer. I used a rain glove earlier this winter on my right hand when it was minus degrees outside but i'm not a fan of rain gloves even if it rains.
  13. Hi, I'm a beginner from Norway, started playing last fall and during the winter we don't get that much days for golf in Norway :p I got my set on a trip to Houston like 8 years ago and enjoyed hitting some balls outside the house and sometimes on the driving range but not more than a few times a year. After I started early September, I've been hooked and as long as its not snow I'm at the range two times a week. I've changed by swing more times than I have been on a course and have a serious problem with reading and watching too much instruction videos. I had a decent swing a while back and hate myself for changing it, its very frustrating (shanks, poor contact and all over the place). Still, love the game :D I'm stressed because in a week I'm going to Spain with two buddies for 3 days of golf and my game is way off. Tin Cup fan but not a big caddyshack fan (dont hate me)..
