Golf swing analysis for smartphones
Sai-Jin replied to The_Pharaoh's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
V1 is great. But the iPhone can't capture true frame by frame, I have used this for my own swing and it doesn't capture some of the points of my swing that I want to see. -
Can't we perhaps shave off like an old club and make it identical to the tourstriker?
-
Can an incomplete back swing (due to fatigue of hips) cause slices / push slice? Also what is the right way for you guys after impact? Do you rotate to the left with your hips or you feel like your club goes more vertical?
-
I think that if you want to improve your game and drop your 20+ handicap, learn a more controlled swing, learn your irons, learn your short game then putting. If you want to do a long drive contest and that's what matters, then by all means do what you wanna do. I played with this kid once and he drives at full force all the time... 280-290 yards... into the water on the left or the fairway on the right. His short game stinks, his putting was so so. But he acts all huffy and puffy, at the end of the round, his score was very high. I hit my ball at personal record of 327yds. But that's once in a while when everything "feels" perfect. I average 287yds. However I'd have been happy at 275-280 yds as long as I can place my balls in the fairway at a good position for my next iron shot. Right now my approach shot / iron play is most important to me. Heck, I'll even be happy with a 265yds drive as long as I position it perfectly. So think about your golf strategy, then decide wisely and maturely.

So I went and actually hit tons of balls on Saturday, a lot more than I'm used to. well, the ache is gone, it feels just a tad stiffer at the end of the day, but looks like it's going away now. Maybe I should stop practicing like I did and just get my techniques to show up naturally as a by product of a good swing.

You may want to post a face on view video btw, That'll help the more experienced members here to look at it more.

Looking for a good lag drill
Sai-Jin replied to UnderdogGolf's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I'm working on this too, much more than before and what I do personally is just hold the "L" until I see that my hands pass the ball and get to around left inner thigh. Then I ground the club, take a back swing and does the same. 2-3 times, then I strike the ball. My problem is a slight cupped wrist and I try to keep it flat. But that's because I have a more upright back swing. But yea, I think people call that "pumping" drill? -
ugh... it will go away right? It's just an inflamed tendon and it'll heal?

I love my MP68, and I don't want the new MP69 ... Is there a way I can buy it cheap now? I can't spend another $600 on it and hopefully the price will drop even further?

Hello, This set was used ONCE for a round and was purchased last Novembre for a full retail cost of $1000 + Tax. I bought this set mainly as back up, for when my main Mizuno set needs a touch up and I ended up never using this set at all. Shaft is KBS Stiff and the rest is standard specs. Pretty much no flaw and the only scratch you'll see is on the bounce, which is very light. I never used this set on hard or sandy surfaces. I'm very anal about my belongings and I take really good care of them. Selling them to help me with my financial situation for 1/2 the cost I paid for + shipping to you. Will also include the original Taylormade Box they came in. Sorry about the low Q photo. I took the photo with my phone at night since I have no camera. The white / reflection in the photo won't be visible on the clubs. Just bad lighting. Please PM me with questions if you are interested. Sale is final. **Will Trade for Brand New Mizuno MP68 . Preferably project X 6.0 shaft, if not, it's ok.**

I hope you are right. I don't work on my grip strength much and when I do it's the same place I feel tension when I'm in the gym. I played 9 after 4 days not doing anything, It felt better, but it's not gone completely yet. Thanks!

Im looking for a brand new set of Mizuno mp68 , preferably with project x 6.0 I can buy it or trade you my r9tp set as well. Please email me if you have these clubs Thanks

Hmm it's not on the elbow, rather on my forearm muscle. I feel it when my left forearm rotates 180 degress. IE: if you stretch your arm out knuckles pointing up and elbow poiting left, the ache or soreness is on the top "bigger" muscle
-
So I normally release rather later after my follow through and recently I started to practice my follow through / release in my golf swing. I almost immediately start to feel ache in my forearm, but just my left arm. I can feel the top of my forearm being stiff when I twist it. Is this normal for a golfer who just started to focus on learning how to release properly by having crossed hands? I hope this is just one of those "never" used muscle that suddenly is being used.
-
Thanks for sharing. I notice that I lose my lag when I come too fast from the top. Anyone has advice for slowing it down? I don't understand that "let gravity" take over and let the arms just drop.
-
I have started to focus on improving my game by actually consciously using lag. But I noticed that the longer the club such as 4 iron, hybrid, woods, it becomes harder to maintain that lag until my shaft is parallel to the ground. It feels as if the club wants to go and release sooner before that point and I hit it fat. Anyone has had that before? For me, it just take extra effort / muscle to hold that L until my hands passed the ball.
-
I'm having fat issues with my New 3 Hybrid too, the shaft is about 1.5 inch shorter than my 3Wood. So it's still quite long. That being said, still try to hit it like a 5i?

I managed to get someone to tape me again, here they are: The range this time is not flat, I think it has like a 30 degree angle upwards. I put the distances from the video based on the marker on the range, so I'm not sure if I'm just a bit tired thus lost some distance or if it's that 30 degree angle of the range. Iron used: MP68 7i Distance around 175yds + inc roll. Carry was around 155-160 I think Driver: R11 TP Distance around 280yds+ inc roll. Carry was around 250-260yds. All approximate. Lastly, the above are my divots after around 20 balls. Starting from right to left. So 2 days ago I changed my right hand grip and #3PP has been allowing me to square the club face much more often. But when I try to push / straighten my right arm, I ended up hooking the ball. Another thing I'm trying to work on is my lag. I'm not sure if I have enough lag on both the videos? Please advice. PS: I know my head moves down on top of back swing and jets straight up on down swing.... didn't feel it at all.

Mizuno MP-69 irons-pic inside
Sai-Jin replied to motteler621's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I saw the full pics at the Mizuno forums and to me it looks just like my mp68 But the bottom seems a tiny bit deeper. Mp68 looks nicer IMHO. I'm thinking of buying a backup set of mp68 once the mp69 is released. You guys got any ideas if I can still get it from Mizuno or will they not make it anymore? http://www.mizunoforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3314&start;=0 -
Well, I have decided to go with my personal ball placement that feels right to me. That has fixed most of the problems. Now I met a Tour pro the other day and he offered to advise me, which I accepted and he ended up teaching me for 20 minutes. The one thing he changed on me is my trigger finger pressure and placement. Plus he told me to gradually add more and more lag / hand closer to left thigh on impact. And he told me to keep practicing with 7i only at the range. So today I had the chance to go to the range and applied the trigger finger pressure. The result out of 40 balls is that I made a decently sized rectangular divot. My driving has also improved as I now manage to feel more consistent squaring off club face. Now the question is... if I hit my irons right everytime, should the divot size increase as in, it adds up little by little or should I have been able to put the ball at the exact same place and make the divot at the exact same spot, thus through out however many balls, the divot is only about the size of a dollar bill? I'm going to post my iron shot video for you to see, Eric, when I go to the range again next.

Just thought I'd share my personal experience here when I thin the ball which I don't see anyone ever post this. recently I developed an alignment issue. What happened is that on address the moment I pull my right leg back, instead of pulling it back to the right and squared to the other foot, I pull it back slightly... which resulted in a closed stance and the ball moved forward 2-3 balls. The closed stance wasn't big, so it wasn't noticeable for me and I was so frustrated why I'm hitting all my balls thin, toed, skulled and fat. So I made sure my stance is squared relative to the ball and ever since I errored much less. Hope this helps.
-
Is the ball placement in this vid about right? Or is it too much centered for most of us? I'm just wondering since it feels like my ball is too much forward on my driver...
-
It's been a while. Life hasn't been easy for me so I stopped playing for a few weeks now, but decided to go to the range today to let stress off. So I have been striking the ball well will my irons, but I noticed that after 30+ balls or so I thin or toe shot everything. I noticed I got a little tired and thus I think that what happened is I start to stand closer to the ball and I unintentionally position my balls too much to the front. I don't know how this happened, but does this make sense to you guys? Normally I'm able to see it when my shaft / club is right there in the middle of my body and the ball just left of it.
-
Erik, I hear you, and that's what I thought too... I'm looking for a downswing trigger that can put me into that perfect posture you showed me... I made the "my swing" thread, and so far, that's the best I swing for the time being... So again, just looking for something so that I can improve my head and legs

what do you think of this:
