  2. Not gonna lie.. I'm jealous...
  3. Welcome to the forum. I also live in Arlington Heights. Where do you like to play?
  4. Yeah, I definetly need to get more flexible in my back. I went to the range yesterday and my back got VERY sore after swinging. I am trying to turn too much for how little flexibility I have right now. Going to look at getting that book tomorrow!
  5. Thanks for the tip, I will check out that book.
  6. I have a severe shank/slice problem also and I am pretty sure I have all four of those problems you mentioned. I was reading this and I after every one, I was saying to myself, "That sounds like me..."
  7. Quote: Yeah I plan on taking lessons. My dad has not taken lessons in years and I got like an hour lesson from one of the people who gives lessons at golf galaxy when I was trying out the clubs and she made me hit the ball a lot better so I might just go back there. I have to wait and see though, I have some school stuff to finish up that is keeping me away from the driving range...
  8. Thank you everyone for the feedback. And I am looking for more flexibility in my core. I feel like I cannot rotate through my swing so I am trying to just power through with my arms.
  9. I am not the most flexible person in the world, and I was wondering if anyone had any exersizes to help me. Thank you.
  10. Well I went and got a set of clubs tonight as my graduation present. I went and tried the two clubs liked the most and I have to say I liked the Callaways the best. So tonight I got a set of Callaway X-20 irons, a Taylor Made Burner Driver (used), and a Callaway bag. My step dad gave me a putter he got for free from somewhere, he says its good though. Thank you again for all the input from everyone.
  11. Thank you for all the responses. Shindig, I will definetly get fitted once I pick which clubs I want. Also, thank you everyone for the information, I will have to go back when I have some free time and swing both the ones I liked the best again and decide which I feel most comfortable swinging.
  12. Hello everyone, I just graduated from college and I have recently decided that I want to take up golfing. I have played 1 round and gone to the range a few times; I suck, but that is expected. So the story is, my mom and step-dad are giving me a $500 gift card to get some irons to start playing. I went to golf galaxy tonight and swung some clubs for about an hour and I just don't know which ones to pick. There are two that I liked the most and they are marked with an asterisk below. I just want some honest opinions from people on which clubs they like and if they are worth the money. Clubs I tried out: Cobra S3 - $399 *Callaway X20 - $399 Adams (part of a complete set) - $299 for whole set with drivers and bag Taylor Made Burner - $499 *Ping G10 - $499 Thanks for the information and opinions all.
  13. Thanks for all the responses! I am hoping to get out as much as possible, but it is hard to go right now because I am just finishing up college and I have no money haha.
  14. Shorts, I don't even like wearing long pants when its cold out.
  15. Hello All, Like the title says, I am new to golf (been once in my life last week). I had decided this past winter that I wanted to start and I got the chance to go out with one of my friends. I played absolutely terrible and I still loved every minute of it. I have a lot to work on and I have been finding some good information posted on this forum, that's why I joined. If anyone has some insight to where there are great tips and pointers for beginners, I would love the shove in the right direction. Thanks for listening!
