Let me say first that I play ready golf and rarely will people be waiting for me to play..... That said....I hear tons of bitching about slow play. I wonder how many of you guys are the ones that like to get out in a two some and fire golf balls up my ass all day because I'm playing a 4 1/2 hour round instead of a 3 hour speed golf session. While I play at local courses a lot and I'm often on a limited time frame, I don't show up expecting to be at the course from my tee time and back to my car in exactly four hours. This is unreasonable. And often I play out of town and spend anywhere from $80-150 for a round of golf. When golf costs that much you are often paying for the view as much as for the golf. I'm not endorsing six hour rounds, but I think that some of us need to take a chill pill and enjoy the time on the course. 4.5 to 5 hours should be expected at a nice course on the weekend. Far too many people end up stressed out and pissed off over the amount of time it takes to complete a round. Why not enjoy the view. Enjoy the company. Drink a beer. Is an extra hour on the golf course really that bad??? If so, your wife must be a lot hotter than mine.

I travel to Birmingham at least 2-3 times a year to play golf. I have friends in TN and we usually meet halfway to hang out and play golf for a couple of days. I'm going again in about a month or so and I'm looking for course recommendations and even more importantly want to know if there are any courses we should purposely avoid. In the past I have played: Highland Park Eagle Point Ballantrae Oxmoor Valley - Short and Valley Course We have played Highland Park more than once as we enjoyed it, but the last few times we played the greens were in pretty bad shape. Eagle Point was expensive, jam-packed, and we were involved in two seperate altercations so we won't likely be back. Ballantrae and Oxmoor Valley were pretty nice, but just looking to try something new. We like to keep it under the $70 mark. Any input from area golfers is greatly appreciated.

Six different courses so far this year. Will be seven by next Monday. Have 3 or 4 more long weekends planned for the year, so that number should jump to somewhere between 15 and 20 by year's end. I just started taking golf oriented trips last summer/fall and have played 10 different courses in 4 different states (not counting my home courses) since then. It's nice to know a course and feel comfortable with a shot, but to me there's nothing better than playing a new course for the first time. Just visited the Birmingham, AL area last month and played at Oxmoor Valley (Robert Trent Jones Trail) and also at a pretty decent course called Ballantrae.

I can't compare it to the clubs you've mentioned, but if cost is a concern I will tell you that I've been very happy with the MacGregor V-Foil. You can likely find one for under $50 at this point. I've been happy with the stock shaft, but even if you wanted to reshaft you would probably still come in under the price point of some of the other options out there.

I can't remember a more exciting finish. I had just mentioned to my wife how unbelievable it would be if Mahan hit it inside of Jay again. That was one of the most clutch shots I've ever seen. I was pulling for Jay to make the putt, but I didn't think it was going to happen. The guy was probably still in shock after hitting two fantastic golf shots just to watch his opponent better him both times.

I play by myself more than I play with friends. I usually try to hit soft spots in the schedule, but I'll also to show up and get paired up sometimes. I've never had much of a problem playing with strangers. I've just joined the local muni and will be playing 3-4 mornings a week. I'll be on my own at first, but I'm not thinking they are going to let a single off every morning so I'll probably get paired up and hopefully find a regular group.

I have balls. And tees. And a towel. And that would be it. Have never understood loading the bag with a bunch of junk that I'll never use. But that's just me.

I just played with two guys that were convinced I must be hitting it 270-280 since I was outdriving them. My very best drive, with roll, was just short of 240. They'd been telling me for weeks that driving was the best part of their game and that they both averaged about 260 off the tee. I love it. Most don't have a clue.

I feel it's my duty in life to trash the r5. And that's saying a lot because I've loved every other TM product I've ever owned. Could've just been me, but I couldn't hit it well to save my life. I blame the TM MAS Shaft. Probably would've been nice reshafted with an Adila NV65.

Yeah...i love those motivational trips to the range. Don't worry about it. We've all been there. Some (myself included) more than others. I've played plenty of decent rounds after hacking it up at the range the day or morning before a round. The worst thing you could do tomorrow would be to worry about it and make a tentative swing. Just remember to commit to the shot and swing away as you have in the past. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I've had my son out to 3 different courses without any issue. I have seen some of the nicer courses that won't allow children below 10 to play without prior pro approval. The courses that I have been to have allowed him to ride along for free without any complaint. I only allow him to hit short shots and putt around the green if it's during the week and the course is completely empty.

I have to chime in here. I owned and absolutely hated an r5. Worst $200 I ever spent. I'm sure the clubhead is fine, but the stock TM shaft is crap in my opinion. My swing speed is pretty mediocre and the regular flex shaft felt like a spaghetti noodle. Just something to keep in mind - You may have to reshaft if you go the r5 route. My apologies to any current r5 owners who believe the club is spectacular....
