  2. When I say refused I mean I asked and they refused. I asked twice do you mind if I play through and was told "we're doing fine" and "wait your turn". Tell you what though next time I go out I'll walk and you can carry my bag. When it's 100+ outside I'm taking a cart and anyone who thinks otherwise can kiss my A$$. I'll walk when its low 90's upper 80's and below but right now we're in the middle of summer.
  3. 106 today.
  4. Played the slowest game of my life today due to a walking foursome in front of me. I was by myself in a power cart and they refused to let me play through.
  5. Thats pretty much exactly what my pro shop told me. I think I might see if I can pick one up.
  6. I guess its not really a 3 wood then. Mine is a 13* HT. If I was to get a driver it would probably be a 10*. I guess my best bet is to go to a demo day and demo one and see if theres a big difference. Unless I run across a killer deal. LOL.
  7. I doubt it will ever happen again but I hope that I can learn to hit the club consistently to be close but on sunday July 3rd on 17, I teed off with my 3 wood like I always do (i've never been about to hit a normal driver) and hit it 280 straight down the center of the fairway. The hole plays 375 and I was 5 yards past the 100 yard marker. Everything just felt perfect on this swing from my tempo to my grip. This was my 3rd time out in 2 weeks since I started playing again after a 6 year break. I've always used a 3 wood to drive and when I went to my local pro shop and found a 13* Diablo driver to complete my set I had to have it. Since then though I haven't really been happy with the distance. On average I've been around 220 yards with it but hardly any roll. So my local pro told me to pick up a driver and just practice with it at the range until I feel comfotable enough to have it in my bag. I guess my question is was this a fluke and I should get a lower lofted driver if I want more Distance, or should I just learn to hit my 3 wood more consistently to get more distance. In my defense I thought 220 was going to be the most I could get from the 3 wood until I hit this drive.
  8. 105 with 1 par being my best hole. I did have a 280 yard drive with my 3 wood though on 17. Will probably never hit it that far and straight again but I was proud.
  9. Ever think to read my whole post and see that I said maybe its just in my area, and that I was referenceing to the courses I play.
  10. I don't see what the big deal is between white tees in blues tees. Maybe its just in my area but the difference on the courses I've played is 10 yards at most. Before I stopped playing 6 years ago I played from both tees and my scores were never much different, sometimes better on the blues, sometimes not. I usally just play from whatever tees my group is playing from. To come on here though and tell someone that their score doesn't really count because its not the blue tees or to get a real HC from the blue tees is just plain idiotic.
  11. Who says? It doesn't matter what tees he plays from. He may play from the whites every round and breaking 80 would still be an accomplishment for him.
  12. Yeah I've shot in the 110-120 area before in 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I expected today to be a 3 hour game and it turned into 4 1/2.
  13. Haven't played in 6 years. Shot 119 Friday and 107 today.
  14. I had a twosome in front of me today that on multiable holes I had to wait around 10 mins to tee off. One of the two was ok. The other didn't walk he strolled to and from the green and to and from his cart. They would tee off and leave just as I approched the box so they never let me play through. I caught up to them on 18 and the stroller looks at me and says " I hope you don't think we were playing slow, it was the group in front of us". I replied back " really? I haven't seen anyone in front of you all day". He just smirked and walked off. Don't get me wrong I don't mind slow play due to ability, we all have to start somewhere. This guy was just taking his sweet time each shot when he know faster players were behind him.
  15. WOW you guys sure do bash the Diablo's. I happen to like the way they look and play. To each his own.
  16. My bad I just added everything up and realized I spent a little more then I thought. Everything totaled $523.29 when added up. Accidently left a couple clubs out when adding this morning. LOL.
  17. They are all brand new not a scratch on them and came in factory wrapped packaging. I got them in yesterday afternoon and took them to my local pro shop right away to get them all authenticated. Every club came back as genuine. All were bought from different sources, irons from one place, driver from another, 3 wood from yet another and so on. I just kept shopping around until I found the best price. Each club had its on serial # except the iron set had one serial # for the whole set. All numbers checked out.
  18. Just received my new clubs and I'm pretty stoked. Just need the weather to be better so I can use them. I ended up picking up a brand new Diablo set of Irons 5-PW, Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 3 hybrid, and 4 hybrid on ebay for around $523.29. Then sold my old Hawkeye VFT's for $220 and my old woods for $120. Needless to say I didn't have to pay much and got a brand new set of clubs I love.
  19. Just the standard Diablo's. Killer deal on Ebay. Yeah I'm sure some days I'll want more distance but I'm pretty happy with what I've been able to hit.
  20. Think you for the reply. I went in today and had my swing speed looked at by another store. They gave me a diablo 6 iron to hit since thats what I'll be playing with. Results came back at 86mph.
  21. I bought my first set of clubs back in 97. A set of no name used irons for $40. After getting real heavy into the game I upgraded to a set of Callaway Hawkeye VFT graphite shafted irons that I paid $1200 for in 2002. Now after being out of the game for the last 6 years and browseing around one of our local stores I see a set of Callaway Diablo Edge irons for $599 5-PW. Then tonight playing around on Ebay I bought the same set for $250 new. I just bought my Fiance a complete set of Adams tight lies plus for $400 to. I was pleasently surprised as I was expecting to pay more along the lines of my VFT's. Has Callaway dropped their prices that much or did I just pay too much back in 2002?
  22. Got into golf back in 97 and played a few years with a used set of no name clubs I bought for $40 . In 2002 I picked up a set of Callaway Hawkeye VFT's for $1200. When getting fitted the store at the time told me I needed Graphite shafts. Clubs came in and I instantly dropped about 10 strokes off my game. I gave up golf for awhile and just recently decided to get back into it. Talking to one of the pros at the pro shop the other day he asked why I was playing with graphite shafts. I told him while getting fitted thats what I was told I needed. He explained to me that graphite shafts were normally for players with slower swing speeds and had me hit a couple balls with a Diablo Edge steel shafted Iron. The Diablo felt great and I hit it really well while at the same time being told I had a very fast swing speed and should consider having my clubs reshafted with iron shafts. I asked him why the other store sold me graphite shafted clubs if I didn't need them and he said to be honest probably "because they are more expensive and you didn't know any better". He said I probably paid about $400 too much for them. Being somewhat knew to the game still I was wondering if this was true or if this was just a sales tactic. Granted he didn't try to sell me anything just said I should think about it. At the same time he never told me my swing speed other then it was very fast.
  23. No but after posting I started wondering if their 300 net was really 300. I never thought I hit that far. If I didn't go last night I would have answered 250-260.
  24. Went to the range for the first time in years today. Haven't been golfing in about 5 years. Bought a small bucket off balls, pulled out my driver and first swing straight as can be off the 300 net. Wow ok lucky hit (I could never hit my driver). Next ball off the 300 net again. Long story short I averaged around 270-280 with about 4 out of 15 hitting the 300 net. Then I pull out my 3 wood. 3 out of 10 off the 300 net with the rest going about the same 270-280. Then the 5 wood. 2 out of 10 off the 300 net with the rest around 240-250 Now i'm thinking their 300 net isn't really 300 or my swing is jacked. I shouldn't be hitting those clubs (the 3 and 5) the same as my driver right?
