  1. i did not mean to offend anyone most of my friends also have hybrids, and do clubfitting
  2. Fantastic feedback from sandtrappers! I was a little surprised about how people felt about hybrids and girly headcovers. However, I can appreciate that we are all different, and that times have changed. Men have become more girly in general which is also evident from today's fashion and habits. Not too far from now in the future i guess we will all look and dress the same, boys and girls I regularly travel to singapore fro example and there it is already quite hard sometimes to tell the difference between men and women, as they all wear the same clothes and jewellery, continuosly look in the mirror, talk and walk the same way also. For now i will put these together with clubfitting as the 3 biggest no-no's for real men, here are my top 5: 1) Clubfitting (possibly the biggest BS invented this century) 2) Hybrids 3) Furry animal headcovers 4) Any club with a non functional feature 5) Starbucks 6) Converse sneakers I wish all sandtrappers a great festive season. I love reading this forum and thanks for this great resource.
  3. oh i am now a little confused. i will on it, and then reassess sandtrappers' inputs
  4. Hello all sandtrappers , I would just like to know what you all think of men playing hybrids . When you see a hybrid in a man's bag do you think he is a bit of a 'lesser' man? A bit of a whimp, if I may say so . Also what about furry animal headcovers ? Would you think lesser of someone when he has those. What if he has the hybrids and the headcovers? I welcome all opinions, and may I also use this opportunity to wish you all a very merry xmas and a fabulous new year with many birdies , and may it be another year where we will be so fortunate to be able to play this great game
  5. brilliant golf. both bubba and webb showing lots of bottle. bubba showing his class with that shot from the bunker.
  6. maybe i spoke too soon. c'on bubba son
  7. Bubba will get better and better and Im sure we will see him win more often. I think the reason why it has taken him some time to being in contention more often is simple because the game that he plays is much harder to master than the game of your traditional pro. The shots that he hits and the way he approaches a hole always meant that its going to take him longer to win, but I can assure you he has much more potential to improve than most other players Assuming bubba wins today he will jump to number 10, possible number 9 in the world rankings , and that will put him one decent win away from being a real challenger for the number 1 rank . And I have no question that bubba wins today, webb simpson is bound to pooooopoooooo his pants. Go on bubba son
  8. Hello Ernesto , I am sorry, the last thing I want to do is to be known as a lier or to give you high blood pressure I will not talk about my driver distances anymore as I really dont want sandtrappers to think that I am talking rubbedydooo Peace and love
  9. belly putatoes I can just imagine if somebody pulled out a belly putatoe at my middle of nowhere golf club in South Africa where I grew up Folks would be giraffing their arses off and most of them probably wouldnt know what it is. You would get so much stick, probably even more than you would for listening to Bon Jovi or wearing socks with yer sandles It just aint golf Im afraid
  10. Hello Kennem Oh deary deary me. Common problem, but easy peasy to fixers Kieran has a good point, but I find that if you have a higher handicap, then the problem with a hook like that is often related not with the swingpath, but instead with the lie angle of your club. (Because of lie angle is not correct it acts the same as an open or closed cubfaced). So i will say that its probably - 1) Your club lie angle is not steep enough, coupled with 2) an open clubface (NOT CLOSED) - that is why your ball go straight (because the lie angle and open clubface combine to give a square clubface), but then the spins is applied and you hook it like that. OK. NOT TOO WORRY. This is going to fix your hook. Try this a few times and Im sure it will help you. Take your normal setup, and just step 1 or 2 inches closer to the ball. And lift your back up a bit so that the sole is flat on the ground. You might feel that this will promote even a bigger hook, but fear not, it will fixers your hookers. Seee yaaa
  11. Hello all, Thank you for the kind comments . Some sandtrappers have made some strange remarks which I dont fully understand but I guess they were just having a giraffe . I am a lover of life, and I believe through a strong community we can all help each other and learn from each other and make the world a better place. Lets all be happy together and share in the beauty of life, the beauty of golf, and all other thing beautifiul and good . About my driver distance in the above videos - My swing looks very fluid and slowish from the back and maybe its a bit hard to judge but I can assure you that those are not 240 yard swing, those are probably closer to 310 yard swing, but I will try to post some bigger and more clear videos, friends . I love all of you, and hope all of you have a great time on the golf course this weekend! And let us all remember how very lucky we are to be able to be outside and play golf. Seeya
  12. Hello Friends, So i went to the driving range yesterdau and my friend took a video of my swing with his blackerberry I used my friend's R7 driver with a stiff Aldila shaft, NDS? i think . This is about an 80% swing for me without loading up with the legs because the driving range is a bit short and there is a carpark on the other side of the net there. Anyways, here is my swing and I just want to post this to show you my chicken wing technique! But the video is really a bit pooopooo , so please excusers! And then here you can see the chicken wing: I just have to say one more thing about the chicken wing technique. Naturally the chicken wing provides an upward vertical force which wont help you much to gain forward power. Therefore, we use the upward force of the chicken wing to provide the upward power needed to get the ball in the air with less spin, which frees up all of our forward power movements to only use on a sweeping driving motion. This way anybody can hit 350 yard drives with a little practise Thank you all for watching
  13. Hello Saijin , Actually it is not that hard to hit a 360 yard drive, and I will share with you a secret that allowed me to increase my distance . I use the so called ' chicken wing ' technique with my driver. I do not use it with my other clubs but only with a driver. I must tell you though, when looking at this kind of swing, most people with tell you that it is completely wrong . And it is a bit wrong, you should only use it if you really want to increase your distance. The idea is simple, as you know we combine all the moving forces/parts of the body simultaneously to increase the power of the forward vector. There is however one part/movement of the body that is not used in the conventional golf swing, one that is thought to be wrong, but, it is another movement and has potential power. It is the left shoulder and elbow, when you lift the left shoulder up during impact, to make a kind of chicken wing , it will give you more power. It is almost exactly the same as what we do when we try to keep the face of the club open like when playing from thick grass or dont want the clubface to close. Only this time you combine the chicken wing with a closed clubface. no no no people will say - but you must challenge the conventional always My friend has a blackerberry and he said he will film me when we go to the driving range tonight. Then I can show you the chicken wing . My handphone does not have a camera, and my company took away my old blackerberry when they had to let me go two months ago (Dont feel bad for me though because they were numpties anyway ). Also my friend, do not ever be afraid to experiment on the range. If anybody is having a giraffe at you, then just have a giraffe with them. Let them giraffe all they want to - because if you do not experiment then you cannot get better. I have tried many things on the range, like the old Coke bottle on the left arm, etc... Some were poooopooo , but some things have really helped me. I will post my chicken wing later. Bye for now
  14. Hi all, Thanks so much for the great advice, phew , I am a big fan of the Sand Trap but never expected people would be so helpful. It's good to know that there are still people out there who does not mind giving free advice and to help others. The world needs more golfers I think maybe I gave some of you the wrong impression with my driver distance, I do not hit every single drive 360 yards , but I feel that if i have an open fairway, with nice hard grass, and I tee up a new players ball and go at it hard, then most of the time, I will get those distances. Of course you can only hot those shots on a few holes over 18 holes. My driver is very very straight, it has been for a few years. I was a pretty long driver in school, and then, 4 years ago I lived in Taiwan and started training really hard in the gym. Also going to the driving range was the only golf I was exposed to at that time and I only had a driver. It became something of a routine for me to go to the range every evening and just hit balls. My disrances somehow just kept increasing as I got stronger and it feels like I'm still getting better. As I say, I'm not a great golfer, I cant really put well as I have a problem with one eye - its a little tiny bit skewed to one side so I struggle a bit with perception, but now Im getting better after practise. Ive just been hitting so many drives I think that I could probably hit 8 out of 10 down the middle with a blindfold on It's good to know that you all are saying that drivers should be under warranty. I live in Malaysia and maybe they have different policies here, however, the shop I bought from last time seemed to have very friendly owners and it looked more like the real deal, not just a little shop but actually people who honor warranties. Yeep yeep yooray Thank you for the recommendations on the ADAMS, and the GEEK golf smt drivers and those ones. I will definitely have a look (wonder if they deliver in Malaysia) Thank you so much for all yoru kind words and suggestions Lol, I just love smilies, after the driving range they are my favorites, the world is so dull and full of hate sometimes , I think smilies help to make it a better place. I will see if I can post a video of my swing at the soonest, maybe tomorrow. Thanks again guys!
  15. Hi all, I am so desperate and thus I am posting here and hoping somebody could give me some tips or anything that i can try. I have broken 5 drivers in the last 12 months and have been spending a fortune. I am quite a long hitter, I'd say probably longer than your average tour pro. I dont really have any problem carrying 300 yards. On a course with decent fairways I often hit 370/380 yard drives. (I wont go into my short game though ) I have to admit that it's been quite nice to get new drivers all the time but its gotta stop! I have had two R7s, one old Cobra SZ, then I cracked a new TaylorMade Burner, and then I bought a brand new Titleist D2 and cracked it yesterday. Have taken 2 back to the store but they say that they cant replace it. Though the store where I got the D2 from gave me 50% discount on a new driver that I bought yesterday, and I bought a new i15 Ping. I have kept the same shaft with all of them and just been replcing the heads. The shaft I use is a KongKe xx flex (it's a small private shaftmaker where I live doubt you guys will have heard of it). They have all cracked in different areas, mostly on the crown just above the face, though the D2 seemed to have cracked at 2 places at the same time, at the back of the crown and the front. Anyways, so my question is - what can i do to prevent another driver from cracking? My drives are generally very straight and I hit my driver very very well (I practise it a lot! ) I'm afraid if I break my new i15 i will feel like pooopooo Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks all!
