  1. 2 strange but similar incidents. On the tee box of a par 3, 6 year old nephew is standing 20 ft to the front right. Hit a ton of dirt and ball jumps off sideways directly towards nephew. He is practicing swinging his driver and hits the ball midflight before the driver could hit him in the head and kill him. Dad is about to hit a shot over water towards the green. I'm in front of him in a cart. I decide to get out 3 seconds before he swings. he hits his ball sideways and it goes in the cart directly where I was sitting. Other than that, the usual: ball skipping off water onto green, skull a bunker shot that hits the flag and falls in, dad hits shot out of bounds towards street and ball hits street lamp and bounces back onto the green, ball off of a electrical wire, water spout, tree limbs, other people, etc. BTW, it has never taken me 11 shots to hit out of the trees.
  2. classic #2 bent 4 degrees flat
  3. well, the Blackberry didn't kill the GPS market, so Apple's version of the Blackberry won't kill the GPS market either.
  4. so, I go into Edwin Watts today and they had the 58 in all three bounces. I really liked the 12 the best. Just love the grind on that wedge. Before I go check out I see they have some demo bags full of clubs. I look in there and see a brand new callaway x-forged 58.10 c-grind. It was freakin' awesome. Hit it great, and it looked like I was the first person to pick it up. $79.99. Thanks for all the help. I'll come back after this weekend and let everyone know how I like it on the course. Gonna try to get out and do some chipping with it before then if the rain will stop long enough.
  5. as far as consistency, i'm just looking at the shafts. I'm not too worried about getting all of the same brand wedge, or getting callaway wedges to match my irons. I think I'm going to go with the Vokey SM 58 and see how i like it. I haven't really heard anyone that doesn't like them, so I think they'll be fine. Still waiting for a store around here to get the 58 in all three bounces so I can try them out.
  6. stay under 90 for atleast 50% of my rounds. break 80 atleast once. never lose to my dad or brother again.
  7. agreed 100%. Unless the tour players are using some Vokey that is hand forgeed by Miura or something like that.
  8. I started playing golf in the summer of 2007. My goal for this past year was to break 90. I shot 87 on Wednesday to meet my goal.
  9. I'd use the word different. They are constructed differently. And, the casting process has become so good that there are many golfers, including scores of professional golfers, who cannot even tell the difference between forged and cast clubs when they hit them without knowing which is which. I can tell that you are a forged junky and believe that it is the perfect way of life, so I'll end this argument. Please get back to discussing wedges.
  10. As a player that uses X20 tours which are cast, how would this affect me? I see that you play forged irons, but I don't. Plus, I think the cast = inconsistency comment is completely false.
  11. anyone who has hit the x-forged and spin-milled, which one feels softer? also, which one gets more spin? This is killing me. I'm starting to lean towards the x-forged now..is it really that much softer than other wedges?
  12. I really want to get a vokey. But, no stores in Baton Rouge have gotten them in yet. I really would like to hit them first so I can compare the different bounces for the 58. I also wish that they'd send some with different shafts, but that doesn't happen very often.
  13. well, I like the 54.12. My boss gave me the 50.11 that someone else gave him and I don't like it at all. I also struggle with consistent distances on fuller shots with the cg12s. And, I've heard that the SMs are better with that. But, that's the reason I'm asking, to get feedback. If I liked the cg12s a lot I probably would just get one of those. But, I don't love them. As far as consistency, I'm really looking to get consistent shafts throughout my irons to my wedges, atleast with flex. The standard wedge flex isn't cutting it for me. Thanks for the suggestion. I am thinking about getting one SP and seeing how I like it. If I don't like it anymore than the CG12s, then I'm probably going to try out the X-Forged Callaway wedges. Then, after that it'll be something else. But, I really think that between Cleveland, Callaway, and Titleist I should be able to find something I like; then I can match my wedges with that.
  14. So, I'm looking at making a few changes to my set. I got some x20 tours about a month ago with project x flighted 6.0 shafts, 3-PW. I also have a cg12 50, 54, and I'm planning on getting one of the new spin-milled vokeys in 58 to finish out my set of wedges. I am planning on either getting sensicore or pro-soft inserts and adding those when I regrip my clubs in the next coming months. A couple of questions for suggestions: 1. Suggestions on sensicore or pro-soft, or neither. though, I'm pretty sold on doing this because my elbow has been flaring up where I have tendinitis. Other suggestions to help this would be helpful also. 2. Suggestions on bounce for the vokey wedge. I have a pretty digger-ish swing and I'm really liking the look of the 12 bounce. But, I'm not sure how it'll perform. What kind of suggestions can you make for that? 3. Lastly, now that I've got rifle shafts in irons, I want them in my wedges to. I've been looking at the rifle spinner wedge shafts and the project x flighted shafts. What suggestions between those two (differences, similarities, etc.) can you make? Also, should I get the 6.0 flex to match my other irons or should I get a different flex? Thanks for the suggestions. I realize that the best thing to do is hit every option and use the one I like the best. I'm really just looking for some feedback by people that have used these tools and/or have shared in this decision making process at some point.
  15. I got some barely used X-20 Tours, 3-PW, Rifle Flighted 6.0 shafts for $335 a few weeks back. I love them. I also got my white hot xg #5 brand new for $89. And, I get ProV1s for $10/dozen whenever I want.
