Works for me.. ty for the correction.. I was in a hurry to post.. In any case, having fellow PGA tour members believe you are juicing isn't good.. This coming after the Galea drama, then Tiger saying he's clean and the knee is good, but we all know he had a problem with Ambien and Vicodin.. Which is a contradiction in itself.. Sorry, there are just too many things that don't add up.. And I'm sure people will argue about Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens juicing or not.. Both deny it, but I think most suspect it.. Apparently enough that Gillette and Buick told Tiger, "bye bye"..
-
Yeah.. Believe what you want.. and I'll do the same.. Interesting that SI did a poll on this topic, and 71 touring PGA pro's believe Tiger is juicing.. So I guess I'm the only one that questions it.. LOL I know.. next thing I'll hear is that those 71 PGA pro's are all jealous .. lol

This trend of reduced rounds has been going on for 10 years.. back when unemployment was 5%.. And as I have already said previously, the economy is only one variable in the problem.. but if so many wish to bury their heads in the sand.. BTW .. Phil M is in the golf business too, and he is well aware of the issues in this industry and he agrees and has pointed it out.. (which I'm sure the PGA didn't like that outburst)
-
And the facts still remain, regardless what agenda you wish to push.. Courses are closing at record rates and rounds are dropping each year.. Your stance of more accessible is even more disturbing considering less people are golfing per year.. Wake up, smell the coffee.. Things are not getting better for golf.. Rumor has it that the networks are planning on cutting back their TV contract with the PGA in 2012.. However, that is just a rumor at this point..
-
Uh hu.. maybe you should read up on the facts.. Anthony Galea pleaded GUILTY last month July 2011 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/06/anthony-galea-pleads-guilty-drugs_n_891672.html Where there is smoke, there is fire.. but if you want to be in denial.. oh well, nothing I can do about that..

You talk about quality Euro events.. Is Tiger entered into them at this time? NO.. So lets wait and see what he actually (if any) he plays in and what he does.. Instead of giving him the win already like you just did.. Have a great day.. I have steaks to cook now
-
Are you that much of a fanboy to not detect sarcasm? lmao C'mon people.. Have you checked the dates on when the Austrian Open is? Same weekend as the Tour championship.. Like Tiger will have any real challenge there.. It'll be interesting to see what scrub events he signs up for..
-
Simply.. The same reason why I will NEVER consider Barry Bonds or Mark McGwire as home run champions.. I will have to support and agree with what Gary Player said back in 2007, "Whether it's HGH, whether it's Creatine or whether it's steroids, I know for a fact that some golfers are doing it." Can we say unlicensed Canadian doctor Anthony Galea?

I agree Bubba.. However, as one poster mentioned, the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup are more like All-Star publicity events then they are real competitions.. A ton of politics comes into play, and it's all about ratings and money then it is about the sport and winning.. Maybe it's why we have such a hard time beating the Euro's.. But this is a weaker field with the international and we normally win, so I guess we can afford to toss in some 2nd stingers.. LOL You know it's a social fun event when one of your Cpt Assistants is Michael Jordon!.. However, I know that Freddie and Mike are good personal friends.. I am a little curious tho about the comment Fred made that Tiger has to play more? Play what events?
-
Wish I could agree with you on that.. however the numbers show otherwise.. Various golf organizations such as the National Golf Foundation (NGF), that love to keep numbers are showing more golf course closings then openings since the turn of the century.. Less rounds played per year.. I think only 2 years of the last 10 shows a gain of less then 1%, whereas losses have been as high as 5% or more.. Even Phil M. made mention of this in last weeks press coverage.. I'm sure some of it is economic reasons, some poor course designs (penal architecture), and genre change in entertainment.. Maybe in Erie, PA things are different, but here in NE Ohio and elsewhere, golfing is taking a hard hit :( Here is a snippet I found online: The golf mecca of Myrtle Beach, S.C., lost 21 courses and more than 2,000 golf-industry jobs as rounds plummeted 22 percent last year, according to the Myrtle Beach Golf Association .

Looks to be a beautiful course,, but OUCH @ $200 plus caddie.. I sometimes wonder if this isn't a factor why we see such a significant drop in rounds played per year.. With the economy the way it is, the golf industry is hurting.. I would love to move away from golf being labeled as the "rich man" sport, and get back to it being a public event for everyone (especially kids) It will be interesting to see how Pinehurst makes their transition, which I whole heartly support..

I've about had it with my aging Taylor Made R5 8.5 Stiff.. The launch angle is too high, or I get way to much draw when I go with a more aggressive grip or stance.. It's the only club in the bag that gives me fits.. I hate to mess with my swing JUST for one club.. So.... I'm looking at going with a new driver that has adjustable settings.. How does the new Titleist 910 series stack up against the rest.?? I'm looking for first hand experience.. Any help would be great..
-
I would say it depends on the use of the handicap score you are gathering.. If you are only using it for personal reasons, then what you are doing is just fine.. I would do the same.. A lot of casual leagues and fun events use more unofficial means, such as what you're doing while tossing in the 80% ruling.. Then you get more detail with that by limiting you holes to nothing more then a double bogey (USGA system), then toss in your index and slope stuff to get a more accurate number.. Good luck
-
I so need to start figuring out what is wrong with my driver.. LOL and to remember to warm up before hitting #1.. Only hit 1 fairway on the front 9 for a 37, and hit 3 fairways on the back 9 for a 35.. I'm happy, but that has been my trend the last month of play.. Struggle on the out nine and shoot par or better on the in nine.. The driver is the key.. :(
-
But is ok to call someone a hater because they don't praise Tiger.. INTERESTING??? Plus.. I'm not attacking anyone for their option.. Ya'll are attacking ME because I have one different then yours.. WOW..
-
You have to love immature fanboys that take things personal when people you don't praise their "OPINIONS".. Now I have one poster saying I"m racist because Tiger isn't on my list.. OMG.. really dude? I don't like Obama either.. However I think Dr J and Michale Jordon were great for basketball.. But I dislike LeBron James..... Figure that one out..... BTW.. I wouldn't say LeBron is on my basketball dream team either.. I'm done with this post, and IF you administrator continue with your biases views I'll have to question your ability to be a true golf PROFESSIONAL.. :)

No kidding.. Does Erik even know the difference between a driver and putter? The jury is still out on Gary, but he's seems to always let Erik run the show.. As for Hollie, OK she's good eye candy, but clueless to golf.. The morning drive just doesn't strike me as a good morning show promoting the golf industry and profession golf as a whole.. I seldom watch it because of the biased agendas..

I said nothing about personal lives.. I said there are other factors I use other then total numbers.. One could easily make the case that Bobby Jones in the short time he was in golf is the greatest ever.. But we'll never know.. The only good Tiger has done for golf is increase the TV ratings and purse winnings.. I'm sure you being a golf pro know the facts that there are more course closings and less rounds played the last 5 years then EVER.. Tiger has NOT brought more golfers onto the course.. Tiger is a good ambassador to TV sports golf and ratings, but he is not a good one for the general public golf industry.. In MY opinion.. Heck, I'm not even a personal fan of Arnie, but I give him credit where I think it's due.. I personally believe Seve in his prime would beat Tiger, just like Duval and Vijay did, but that is just an opinion for the fantasy league.. This thread is like naming your all time best college quarterbacks.. Opinions galore, none are right or wrong..
-
WOW.. you leave Tiger's name off the list and the fanboys go nuts.. geeesh.. I'll stick with my dream team.. Those players IN their prime I'd put against anyone else's and feel happy.. No need to get bent because I don't blindly follow the Tiger worship train.. Hell.. David Duval and Vijay in their prime smacked Tiger around to be #1 in the world.. Problem they have was health issues.. I have my opinion and you have yours :) We won't even discuss what benefits a Canadian doctor can do ..

The Pro V1 has a softer feel and higher spin rate then the Pro V1x.. I normally use the Pro V1x because of less spin and lower ball flight.. However, I usually only use the Pro V1x when I'm playing in mid season form.. In the spring when I'm trying to knock the rust off my aching bones, I like the NXT tour as an affordable cheaper back up.. The only significant difference I notice is the spin I get off wedge shots, or chips.. The Pro V1x will dance a lot more then the NXT tour around the greens..

Beer or Milk? What Would You Do If You Won a Major?
ThominOH replied to Tyler Ryne's topic in Golf Talk
OK.. The beer I can go with.. It was a long hot day, and I'm sure I would have a thirst to quench.. BUT... Where's the pizza? -
If I could make up my dream team of 5.. I would go with: 1) Jack Nicklaus 2) Sam Snead 3) Ben Hogan 4) Arnold Palmer 5) Tom Watson Alt back-up, Walter Hagen Of course my decision was based on years of play, character and more.. Being a great golfer is more then just shooting a number.. IMO
-
Not sure I agree with that.. Remember that Dufner put his tee shot in the water on 15, while Bradley is teeing off on 16.. There was no pressure of the Keegan birdies to come.. Heck, Jason was in the middle of the fairway on 16 with a 4 stroke lead when Keegan made his birdie.. Even after that.. It's now a 3 stroke lead.. No reason to panic.. All Jason had to do was aim middle of green and take your pars and run..
-
YES.. the final 4 finishing holes played a total of 1.5 over par for the week.. give or take a couple tenths.. Jason played them 3 over in 4 holes.. It doesn't matter that Keegan birdied 2 of the holes or not.. Keegan was 1 over par for the final 4 holes.. Lets just call a club a club.. Jason fell under pressure of a major.. ESPECIALLY since all his tee shots were in the fairway.. Having hit 4 of 4 in fairways coming down the stretch, only to walk away at 3 over par, is.. well.. unimpressive..
-
oops sorry oh mighty teacher.. I normally never proofread my post.. It wasn't the first, and it won't be the last.. LOL As for that birdie putt.. It wasn't a hard putt at all, one that should of been made 9 out of 10 times.. "So many birdies"?? Keegan made 2, along with a TRIPLE bogey.. How is that pressing? Did you forget Jason launched his tee shot into the water with a huge lead.. That is just simple choking and he imploded from there on.. Have a great day.. As for the accounting.. I should of put it this way.. his 4 bogeys in the last 7 holes was his undoing.. The birdie on the 3rd playoff hole was a non factor.
