  1. my best shot of the week actually turned out to be the best shot of my 30 years of existence! i was playing in a league match thursday night at my home course on the par 5 2nd hole. hooked my drive a little but got a good break leaving me with about 195-200 to the hole. pulled out the taylormade dual rescue 22* and and hit a pure draw headed toward the right side of the green. the ball landed just short and with the right to left spin, rolled and rolled and rolled all the way to the back left pin placement and dropped in on what looked like the last turn for a double eagle!!! i was stunned. never before had one of those, nor a hole in one or even a eagle on a par 4 there! it's going to be hard for me to top that one ever again! but i am still enjoying it!
  2. so i just got my new R9 i've been patiently waiting on for over a week now, and what did i do before i even got a chance to swing it? that's right, i somehow managed to strip the screw while adjusting the loft/lie by removing the head from the shaft. as i was screwing it back down, i was waiting for the "click," but instead it got really tight, and the next thing i new, it stripped. anyone else managed to do this or heard of it happening to anyone else??
  3. I have been "getting it back" recently by scoring well, but not from striking the ball as well as I would prefer. I am about a 2-3 handicap when I am on my game. I am currently a 6 because I usually shut it down for the Winter and gear up again around March or April. So when I started back this year I had a 1 handicap and couldn't play to it to save my life, got a few 77, 78, and 79's posted and came up to a 6 by trading them out for some 70-74's from last year. Keep in mind, I play on a very playable wide-open course that plays 6400 yards. I struggle to break 80 when I am playing well and take my game on the road! Anyways, I shot even par 72 last Sunday, but I noticed nearly every time I got a wedge, 9-iron, or 8-iron in my hand I was jerking it a bit. When I stood back to look at my divot it was either right on target or just a shade right of the pin where I prefer to line up because I play a draw. Any suggestions on what I may be doing?
  4. today, july 30...i got home from work with about an hour left of daylight. i live on my local golf course in which i am a memeber, and loaded up my cart and went out to practice a couple of holes. i played a few holes, and just before dark, i went out to the 100 yard marker on number 7 and dropped 10 balls in the fairway. pulled out my 52* cleveland and hit a few wedges in at the pin. it was so dark, i couldn't see where my ball was landing from 100 yards away. on my 10th and final shot, i saw it leave and knew it would be close. then i heard it clip the pin! i rode up to the green and started counting balls as i got closer. i counted 9 balls, and i knew then it was in the hole. i walked up, and low and behold, the ball mark was 2 ft. directly behind the hole, and the ball was in the cup. too bad it wasn't a true hole-out eagle, even though that's where my tee- shot usually ends up on the short par 4...
  5. ummmmmm, no ban on any usga conforming equipment. if you think they give you an advantage, go out on your local putting green and try to 2-putt from 30-40 feet consistantly with a belly/long putter. not easy...
  6. sunday july 29, i shot an even par 72 (35 - 37) on my home course. it only plays around 6300 yards and is in great shape to shoot a low number. i birdied the par 5 11th to get to 2 under before stumbling coming in with bogeys on 12, 16 and 17. a birdie on 18 got me back to even. i struck the ball well, with exception of 16 and 17, missed a putt on 12 inside of 3 feet to save par. my highlight of the day was my tee shot on the 165 yd par 3 3rd hole in which i hit the top of the flag stick on the fly. granted it ended up 15 feet behind the hole and i lipped my birdie attempt. all in all, it was a pretty good round, and helped build my confidence for my upcoming member-guest tournament in 2 weeks.
  7. thanks man! i swear that wasn't there earlier...
  8. i played in a cga event several years back at tanglewood, and i felt like i had never played golf before. i left there with such a bad taste in my mouth because i played so poorly and couldn't figure out why the course is rated so highly amongst nc courses. best i can remember, we played the back tees, and i am not very long off the tee, so i had 3, 4 & 5 irons in to nearly every green. i hit the ball low at the time (i have since gotten better and can get the ball up), but i had so much trouble because it seemed like there were front bunkers on the majority of the holes. so naturally i found most of them hitting low burners. i would like to give it another shot sometime now that i feel i am a little better golfer. where else do you play at? any nc gems out there that i don't know about?
  9. hello all. i am new here. i am a member at piney point golf club in norwood, nc where i am a 3 handicap and try to play as much golf as possible. i really enjoy reading all of the posts here, but i have a quick question...i noticed how a lot of people have a "signature" or "quote" at the end of their messages like "what's in the bag." i'm sure it's not something that's typed every time a message is posted, so i am wondering how to go about setting that up? i looked all in the settings and i can't figure it out. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance! any north carolina golfers out there? where do you play at?
  10. of the pinehurst tracks, i've only played #4 & 5. they are both nice, but on the lower end. you can't go wrong at pinehurst. by the way, i'm new here...how do you create a "signature" (like listing "what's in the bag") and not have to type it out every time. thanks
